Nahum 1
1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
Revelação sobre Nínive. Livro da visão de Naum o elcosita.
2 God is jealous, and the LORD revenges; the LORD revenges, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserves wrath for his enemies.
O SENHOR é Deus zeloso e vingador; o SENHOR é vingador e furioso; o SENHOR se vinga de seus adversários, e que guarda [ira] contra seus inimigos.
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
O SENHOR é tardio para se irar, porém grande em poder; e não terá [ao culpado] por inocente. O SENHOR caminha entre a tempestade e o turbilhão, e as nuvens são o pó de seus pés.
4 He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers: Bashan languishes, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languishes.
Ele repreende o mar, e o faz secar; e deixa secos todos os rios. Basã e o Carmelo se definham, e a flor do Líbano murcha.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
Os montes tremem diante dele, e os morros se derretem; e a terra se abala em sua presença, e o mundo, e todos os que nele habitam.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
Quem pode subsistir diante de seu furor? E quem pode persistir diante do ardor de sua ira? Seu furor se derrama como fogo, e as rochas se partem diante dele.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him.
O SENHOR é bom, é fortaleza no dia da angústia; ele conhece os que nele confiam.
8 But with a surpassing flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Mas com inundação impetuosa ele acabará com Nínive, e perseguirá seus inimigos até às trevas.
9 What do all of you imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
O que vós tramais contra o SENHOR, ele mesmo destruirá; a angústia não se levantará duas vezes.
10 For while they be folded together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Mesmo estando entretecidos como espinhos, e embriagados como beberrões, eles serão consumidos como a palha seca.
11 There is one come out of you, that imagines evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
De ti saiu um que trama o mal contra o SENHOR, um conselheiro maligno.
12 Thus says the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
Assim diz o SENHOR: Ainda que sejam prósperos, e muitos em número, mesmo assim eles serão exterminados, e passarão. Eu te afligi, [Judá], porém não te afligirei mais.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds in two.
Mas agora quebrarei seu jugo de sobre ti, e romperei tuas amarras.
14 And the LORD has given a commandment concerning you, that no more of your name be sown: out of the house of your gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make your grave; for you are vile.
Porém contra ti, [assírio], o SENHOR mandou que nunca mais seja gerado alguém de teu nome; da casa de teu deus arrancarei as imagens de escultura e de fundição. Farei para ti um sepulcro, porque tu és desprezível.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that brings good tidings, that publishes peace! O Judah, keep your solemn feasts, perform your vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through you; he is utterly cut off.
Eis que sobre os montes estão os pés daquele que anuncia boas novas, do que faz ouvir a paz. Celebra tuas festas, Judá; cumpre os teus votos, porque nunca mais o maligno passará por ti; ele foi exterminado por completo.
