< Matthew 25 >
1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
yā daśa kanyāḥ pradīpān gr̥hlatyō varaṁ sākṣāt karttuṁ bahiritāḥ, tābhistadā svargīyarājyasya sādr̥śyaṁ bhaviṣyati|
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
tāsāṁ kanyānāṁ madhyē pañca sudhiyaḥ pañca durdhiya āsan|
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
yā durdhiyastāḥ pradīpān saṅgē gr̥hītvā tailaṁ na jagr̥huḥ,
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
kintu sudhiyaḥ pradīpān pātrēṇa tailañca jagr̥huḥ|
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
anantaraṁ varē vilambitē tāḥ sarvvā nidrāviṣṭā nidrāṁ jagmuḥ|
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go all of you out to meet him.
anantaram arddharātrē paśyata vara āgacchati, taṁ sākṣāt karttuṁ bahiryātēti janaravāt
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
tāḥ sarvvāḥ kanyā utthāya pradīpān āsādayituṁ ārabhanta|
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
tatō durdhiyaḥ sudhiya ūcuḥ, kiñcit tailaṁ datta, pradīpā asmākaṁ nirvvāṇāḥ|
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go all of you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
kintu sudhiyaḥ pratyavadan, dattē yuṣmānasmāṁśca prati tailaṁ nyūnībhavēt, tasmād vikrētr̥ṇāṁ samīpaṁ gatvā svārthaṁ tailaṁ krīṇīta|
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
tadā tāsu krētuṁ gatāsu vara ājagāma, tatō yāḥ sajjitā āsan, tāstēna sākaṁ vivāhīyaṁ vēśma praviviśuḥ|
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
anantaraṁ dvārē ruddhē aparāḥ kanyā āgatya jagaduḥ, hē prabhō, hē prabhō, asmān prati dvāraṁ mōcaya|
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
kintu sa uktavān, tathyaṁ vadāmi, yuṣmānahaṁ na vēdmi|
13 Watch therefore, for all of you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.
atō jāgrataḥ santastiṣṭhata, manujasutaḥ kasmin dinē kasmin daṇḍē vāgamiṣyati, tad yuṣmābhi rna jñāyatē|
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
aparaṁ sa ētādr̥śaḥ kasyacit puṁsastulyaḥ, yō dūradēśaṁ prati yātrākālē nijadāsān āhūya tēṣāṁ svasvasāmarthyānurūpam
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and immediately took his journey.
ēkasmin mudrāṇāṁ pañca pōṭalikāḥ anyasmiṁśca dvē pōṭalikē aparasmiṁśca pōṭalikaikām itthaṁ pratijanaṁ samarpya svayaṁ pravāsaṁ gatavān|
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
anantaraṁ yō dāsaḥ pañca pōṭalikāḥ labdhavān, sa gatvā vāṇijyaṁ vidhāya tā dviguṇīcakāra|
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
yaśca dāsō dvē pōṭalikē alabhata, sōpi tā mudrā dviguṇīcakāra|
18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
kintu yō dāsa ēkāṁ pōṭalikāṁ labdhavān, sa gatvā bhūmiṁ khanitvā tanmadhyē nijaprabhōstā mudrā gōpayāñcakāra|
19 After a long time the lord of those servants comes, and reckons (logos) with them.
tadanantaraṁ bahutithē kālē gatē tēṣāṁ dāsānāṁ prabhurāgatya tairdāsaiḥ samaṁ gaṇayāñcakāra|
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, you delivered unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
tadānīṁ yaḥ pañca pōṭalikāḥ prāptavān sa tā dviguṇīkr̥tamudrā ānīya jagāda; hē prabhō, bhavatā mayi pañca pōṭalikāḥ samarpitāḥ, paśyatu, tā mayā dviguṇīkr̥tāḥ|
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, you good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.
tadānīṁ tasya prabhustamuvāca, hē uttama viśvāsya dāsa, tvaṁ dhanyōsi, stōkēna viśvāsyō jātaḥ, tasmāt tvāṁ bahuvittādhipaṁ karōmi, tvaṁ svaprabhōḥ sukhasya bhāgī bhava|
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, you delivered unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
tatō yēna dvē pōṭalikē labdhē sōpyāgatya jagāda, hē prabhō, bhavatā mayi dvē pōṭalikē samarpitē, paśyatu tē mayā dviguṇīkr̥tē|
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.
tēna tasya prabhustamavōcat, hē uttama viśvāsya dāsa, tvaṁ dhanyōsi, stōkēna viśvāsyō jātaḥ, tasmāt tvāṁ bahudraviṇādhipaṁ karōmi, tvaṁ nijaprabhōḥ sukhasya bhāgī bhava|
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew you that you are an hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered:
anantaraṁ ya ēkāṁ pōṭalikāṁ labdhavān, sa ētya kathitavān, hē prabhō, tvāṁ kaṭhinanaraṁ jñātavān, tvayā yatra nōptaṁ, tatraiva kr̥tyatē, yatra ca na kīrṇaṁ, tatraiva saṁgr̥hyatē|
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the earth: lo, there you have that is yours.
atōhaṁ saśaṅkaḥ san gatvā tava mudrā bhūmadhyē saṁgōpya sthāpitavān, paśya, tava yat tadēva gr̥hāṇa|
26 His lord answered and said unto him, You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not scattered:
tadā tasya prabhuḥ pratyavadat rē duṣṭālasa dāsa, yatrāhaṁ na vapāmi, tatra chinadmi, yatra ca na kirāmi, tatrēva saṁgr̥hlāmīti cēdajānāstarhi
27 You ought therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with interest.
vaṇikṣu mama vittārpaṇaṁ tavōcitamāsīt, yēnāhamāgatya vr̥dvyā sākaṁ mūlamudrāḥ prāpsyam|
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which has ten talents.
atōsmāt tāṁ pōṭalikām ādāya yasya daśa pōṭalikāḥ santi tasminnarpayata|
29 For unto every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has.
yēna vardvyatē tasminnaivārpiṣyatē, tasyaiva ca bāhulyaṁ bhaviṣyati, kintu yēna na vardvyatē, tasyāntikē yat kiñcana tiṣṭhati, tadapi punarnēṣyatē|
30 And cast all of you the useless servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
aparaṁ yūyaṁ tamakarmmaṇyaṁ dāsaṁ nītvā yatra sthānē krandanaṁ dantagharṣaṇañca vidyētē, tasmin bahirbhūtatamasi nikṣipata|
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
yadā manujasutaḥ pavitradūtān saṅginaḥ kr̥tvā nijaprabhāvēnāgatya nijatējōmayē siṁhāsanē nivēkṣyati,
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:
tadā tatsammukhē sarvvajātīyā janā saṁmēliṣyanti| tatō mēṣapālakō yathā chāgēbhyō'vīn pr̥thak karōti tathā sōpyēkasmādanyam itthaṁ tān pr̥thaka kr̥tvāvīn
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
dakṣiṇē chāgāṁśca vāmē sthāpayiṣyati|
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, all of you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
tataḥ paraṁ rājā dakṣiṇasthitān mānavān vadiṣyati, āgacchata mattātasyānugrahabhājanāni, yuṣmatkr̥ta ā jagadārambhat yad rājyam āsāditaṁ tadadhikuruta|
35 For I was an hungered, and all of you gave me food: I was thirsty, and all of you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and all of you took me in:
yatō bubhukṣitāya mahyaṁ bhōjyam adatta, pipāsitāya pēyamadatta, vidēśinaṁ māṁ svasthānamanayata,
36 Naked, and all of you clothed me: I was sick, and all of you visited me: I was in prison, and all of you came unto me.
vastrahīnaṁ māṁ vasanaṁ paryyadhāpayata, pīḍītaṁ māṁ draṣṭumāgacchata, kārāsthañca māṁ vīkṣituma āgacchata|
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an hungered, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink?
tadā dhārmmikāḥ prativadiṣyanti, hē prabhō, kadā tvāṁ kṣudhitaṁ vīkṣya vayamabhōjayāma? vā pipāsitaṁ vīkṣya apāyayāma?
38 When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you?
kadā vā tvāṁ vidēśinaṁ vilōkya svasthānamanayāma? kadā vā tvāṁ nagnaṁ vīkṣya vasanaṁ paryyadhāpayāma?
39 Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came unto you?
kadā vā tvāṁ pīḍitaṁ kārāsthañca vīkṣya tvadantikamagacchāma?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as all of you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, all of you have done it unto me.
tadānīṁ rājā tān prativadiṣyati, yuṣmānahaṁ satyaṁ vadāmi, mamaitēṣāṁ bhrātr̥ṇāṁ madhyē kañcanaikaṁ kṣudratamaṁ prati yad akuruta, tanmāṁ pratyakuruta|
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, all of you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (aiōnios )
paścāt sa vāmasthitān janān vadiṣyati, rē śāpagrastāḥ sarvvē, śaitānē tasya dūtēbhyaśca yō'nantavahnirāsādita āstē, yūyaṁ madantikāt tamagniṁ gacchata| (aiōnios )
42 For I was an hungered, and all of you gave me no food: I was thirsty, and all of you gave me no drink:
yatō kṣudhitāya mahyamāhāraṁ nādatta, pipāsitāya mahyaṁ pēyaṁ nādatta,
43 I was a stranger, and all of you took me not in: naked, and all of you clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and all of you visited me not.
vidēśinaṁ māṁ svasthānaṁ nānayata, vasanahīnaṁ māṁ vasanaṁ na paryyadhāpayata, pīḍitaṁ kārāsthañca māṁ vīkṣituṁ nāgacchata|
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an hungered, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto you?
tadā tē prativadiṣyanti, hē prabhō, kadā tvāṁ kṣudhitaṁ vā pipāsitaṁ vā vidēśinaṁ vā nagnaṁ vā pīḍitaṁ vā kārāsthaṁ vīkṣya tvāṁ nāsēvāmahi?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as all of you did it not to one of the least of these, all of you did it not to me.
tadā sa tān vadiṣyati, tathyamahaṁ yuṣmān bravīmi, yuṣmābhirēṣāṁ kañcana kṣōdiṣṭhaṁ prati yannākāri, tanmāṁ pratyēva nākāri|
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (aiōnios )
