Joshua 23
1 And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.
E aconteceu, passados muitos dias depois que o SENHOR deu repouso a Israel de todos os seus inimigos ao redor, que Josué, sendo velho, e cheio de dias,
2 And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:
Chamou a todo Israel, a seus anciãos, a seus príncipes, a seus juízes e a seus oficiais, e disse-lhes: Eu sou já velho e cheio de dias:
3 And all of you have seen all that the LORD your God has done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that has fought for you.
E vós vistes tudo o que o SENHOR vosso Deus fez com todas estas nações em vossa presença; porque o SENHOR vosso Deus lutou por vós.
4 Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
Eis que vos reparti por sorteio, em herança para vossas tribos, estas nações, tanto as destruídas como as que ficam, desde o Jordão até o grande mar até onde o sol se põe.
5 And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and all of you shall possess their land, as the LORD your God has promised unto you.
E o SENHOR vosso Deus as expulsará de diante de vós, e as lançará de vossa presença: e vós possuireis suas terras, como o SENHOR vosso Deus vos disse.
6 Be all of you therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that all of you turn not aside from it to the right hand or to the left;
Esforçai-vos, pois, muito a guardar e fazer tudo o que está escrito no livro da lei de Moisés, sem apartar-vos dele nem à direita nem à esquerda;
7 That all of you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
Que quando entrardes a estas nações que restaram convosco, não façais menção nem jureis pelo nome de seus deuses, nem os sirvais, nem vos inclineis a eles:
8 But cleave unto the LORD your God, as all of you have done unto this day.
Mas ao SENHOR vosso Deus vos achegareis, como fizestes até hoje;
9 For the LORD has driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man has been able to stand before you unto this day.
Pois o SENHOR expulsou diante de vós grandes e fortes nações, e até hoje ninguém há podido resistir diante de vosso rosto.
10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fights for you, as he has promised you.
Um homem de vós perseguirá a mil: porque o SENHOR vosso Deus luta por vós, como ele vos disse.
11 Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that all of you love the LORD your God.
Portanto, cuidai muito por vossas almas, que ameis ao SENHOR vosso Deus.
12 Else if all of you do in any way go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
Porque se vos apartardes, e vos achegardes ao que resta daquelas nações que restaram convosco, e se estabelecerdes com elas matrimônios, e entrardes a elas, e elas a vós;
13 Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until all of you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.
Sabei que o SENHOR vosso Deus não expulsará mais estas nações diante de vós; antes vos serão por laço, e por tropeço, e por açoite para vossos lados, e por espinhos para vossos olhos, até que pereçais desta boa terra que o SENHOR vosso Deus vos deu.
14 And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and all of you know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spoke concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing has failed thereof.
E eis que eu estou para entrar hoje pelo caminho de toda a terra: reconhecei, pois, com todo o vosso coração e com toda vossa alma, que não se perdeu uma palavra de todas a boas palavras que o SENHOR vosso Deus disse de vós; todas vieram até vós, nenhuma delas se perdeu.
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.
Mas será, que quando veio sobre vós toda palavra boa que o SENHOR vosso Deus vos havia dito, assim também o SENHOR trará sobre vós toda palavra má, até destruir-vos de sobre a boa terra que o SENHOR vosso Deus vos deu;
16 When all of you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and all of you shall perish quickly from off the good land which he has given unto you.
Quando transgredirdes o pacto do SENHOR vosso Deus que ele vos mandou, indo e honrando deuses alheios, e inclinando-vos a eles. E o furor do SENHOR se inflamará contra vós, e logo perecereis desta boa terra que ele vos deu.
