John 5
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Después de esto llegó una fiesta de los judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
Hay en Jerusalén, junto a la ( puerta ) de las Ovejas una piscina llamada en hebreo Betesda, que tiene cinco pórticos.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Allí estaban tendidos una cantidad de enfermos, ciegos, cojos, paralíticos, que aguardaban que el agua se agitase. [
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
Porque un ángel bajaba de tiempo en tiempo y agitaba el agua; y el primero que entraba después del movimiento del agua, quedaba sano de su mal, cualquiera que este fuese].
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
Y estaba allí un hombre, enfermo desde hacía treinta y ocho años.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he says unto him, Will you be made whole?
Jesús, viéndolo tendido y sabiendo que estaba enfermo hacía mucho tiempo, le dijo: “¿Quieres ser sanado?”
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steps down before me.
El enfermo le respondió: “Señor, yo no tengo a nadie que me meta en la piscina cuando el agua se agita; mientras yo voy, otro baja antes que yo”.
8 Jesus says unto him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk.
Díjole Jesús: “Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda”.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
Al punto quedó sanado, tomó su camilla, y se puso a andar. Ahora bien, aquel día era sábado:
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.
Dijeron, pues, los judíos al hombre curado: “Es sábado; no te es lícito llevar tu camilla”.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up your bed, and walk.
Él les respondió: “El que me sanó, me dijo: Toma tu camilla y anda”.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto you, Take up your bed, and walk?
Le preguntaron: “¿Quién es el que te dijo: Toma tu camilla y anda?”
13 And he that was healed know not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
El hombre sanado no lo sabía, porque Jesús se había retirado a causa del gentío que había en aquel lugar.
14 Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto you.
Después de esto lo encontró Jesús en el Templo y le dijo: “Mira que ya estás sano; no peques más, para que no te suceda algo peor”.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
Fuese el hombre y dijo a los judíos que el que lo había sanado era Jesús.
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
Por este motivo atacaban los judíos a Jesús, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.
Él les respondió: “Mi Padre continúa obrando, y Yo obro también”.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Con lo cual los judíos buscaban todavía más hacerlo morir, no solamente porque no observaba el sábado, sino porque llamaba a Dios su padre, igualándose de este modo a Dios.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things whatsoever he does, these also does the Son likewise.
Entonces Jesús respondió y les dijo: “En verdad, en verdad, os digo, el Hijo no puede por Sí mismo hacer nada, sino lo que ve hacer al Padre; pero lo que Este hace, el Hijo lo hace igualmente.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does: and he will show him greater works than these, that all of you may marvel.
Pues el Padre ama al Hijo y le muestra todo lo que Él hace; y le mostrará aún cosas más grandes que estas, para asombro vuestro.
21 For as the Father raises up the dead, and replenishes life to them; even so the Son gives life to whom he will.
Como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les devuelve la vida, así también el Hijo devuelve la vida a quien quiere.
22 For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son:
Y el Padre no juzga a nadie, sino que ha dado todo el juicio al Hijo,
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent him.
a fin de que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. Quien no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que lo ha enviado.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, (logos) and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (aiōnios g166)
En verdad, en verdad, os digo: El que escucha mi palabra y cree a Aquel que me envió, tiene vida eterna y no viene a juicio, sino que ha pasado ya de la muerte a la vida. (aiōnios g166)
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
En verdad, en verdad, os digo, vendrá el tiempo, y ya estamos en él, en que los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y aquellos que la oyeren, revivirán.
26 For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Porque así como el Padre tiene la vida en Sí mismo, ha dado también al Hijo el tener la vida en Sí mismo.
27 And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
Le ha dado también el poder de juzgar, porque es Hijo del hombre.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
No os asombre esto, porque vendrá el tiempo en que todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz;
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
y saldrán los que hayan hecho el bien, para resurrección de vida; y los que hayan hecho el mal, para resurrección de juicio.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which has sent me.
Por Mí mismo Yo no puedo hacer nada. Juzgo según lo que oigo, y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
Si Yo doy testimonio de Mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero.
32 There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true.
Pero otro es el que da testimonio de Mí, y sé que el testimonio que da acerca de Mí es verdadero.
33 All of you sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
Vosotros enviasteis legados a Juan, y él dio testimonio a la verdad.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that all of you might be saved.
Pero no es que de un hombre reciba Yo testimonio, sino que digo esto para vuestra salvación.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and all of you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
Él era antorcha que ardía y brillaba, y vosotros quisisteis regocijaros un momento a su luz.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father has given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent me.
Pero el testimonio que Yo tengo es mayor que el de Juan, porque las obras que el Padre me ha dado para llevar a cabo, y que precisamente Yo realizo, dan testimonio de Mí, que es el Padre quien me ha enviado.
37 And the Father himself, which has sent me, has borne witness of me. All of you have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
El Padre que me envió, dio testimonio de Mí. Y vosotros ni habéis jamás oído su voz, ni visto su semblante,
38 And all of you have not his word (logos) abiding in you: for whom he has sent, him all of you believe not.
ni tampoco tenéis su palabra morando en vosotros, puesto que no creéis a quien Él envió.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them all of you think all of you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (aiōnios g166)
Escudriñad las Escrituras, ya que pensáis tener en ellas la vida eterna: son ellas las que dan testimonio de Mí, (aiōnios g166)
40 And all of you will not come to me, that all of you might have life.
¡y vosotros no queréis venir a Mí para tener vida!
41 I receive not honour from men.
Gloria de los hombres no recibo,
42 But I know you, that all of you have not the love (agape) of God in you.
sino que os conozco ( y sé ) que no tenéis en vosotros el amor de Dios.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and all of you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him all of you will receive.
Yo he venido en el nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibís; si otro viniere en su propio nombre, ¡a ese lo recibiréis!
44 How can all of you believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that comes from God only?
¿Cómo podéis vosotros creer, si admitís alabanza los unos de los otros, y la gloria que viene del único Dios no la buscáis?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom all of you trust.
No penséis que soy Yo quien os va a acusar delante del Padre. Vuestro acusador es Moisés, en quien habéis puesto vuestra esperanza.
46 For had all of you believed Moses, all of you would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
Si creyeseis a Moisés, me creeríais también a Mí, pues de Mí escribió Él.
47 But if all of you believe not his writings, how shall all of you believe my words? (rhema)
Pero si no creéis a sus escritos, ¿cómo creeréis a mis palabras?”
