< John 4 >

1 When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
Vafalisayu vayuwini kuvya Yesu avi mukupata vawuliwa vamahele na kuvabatiza kuliku Yohani.
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
Ndi chakaka kuvya Yesu mwene abatiza lepi, nambu vawuliwa vaki ndi vevabatizayi vandu.
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
Hinu Yesu peagayuwini genago, akawuka ku Yudea na kuwuya ku Galilaya.
4 And he must essentially go through Samaria.
Mulugendu lwenulo yamganili kuvedukila kumulima wa Samaliya.
5 Then comes he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
Yavili ngati lukumbi lwa muhi.
7 There comes a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus says unto her, Give me to drink.
Kangi, akabwela mdala mmonga mkolonjinji wa ku Samaliya kunega manji. Yesu akamjovela, “Nipelayi manji ninywayi.”
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.)
Lukumbi lwenulo vawuliwa vaki vahambili kumuji kugula chakulya.
9 Then says the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that you, being a Jew, ask drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Uhotola wuli kuniyupa manji?” Muni Vayawudi na Vasamaliya katu vitama lepi pamonga.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water.
Yesu akamyangula, “Ngati kuvya umanyayi chindu chechiwusiwa na Chapanga ndi yani mweakukujovela, ‘nipelayi manji ninywai,’ Ngawamali, kumuyupa manji gegileta wumi.”
11 The woman says unto him, Sir, you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then have you that living water?
12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Wu, veve ukujikita wa mkulu kuliku dadi witu Yakobo? Mwene ndi mweatipelili chiliva ichi, mwene na vana vaki pamonga na mifuya yaki vanywayi manji ga chiliva ichi.”
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again:
Yesu akamyangula, “Yoyoha mweinywa manji aga yati ivya na njota kavili.
14 But whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman says unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come here to draw.
Mdala mwenuyo akamjovela, “Bambu, unipela manji genago muni nikotoka kuvya na njota kavili na nikotoka kubwela penapa kunega manji.”
16 Jesus says unto her, Go, call your husband, and come here.
Yesu akamjovela, “Uhamba ukamkemela mngwana waku, ubwela nayu penapa.”
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband:
Mdala yula akayangula, “Nene nangali mgosi.” Yesu akamjovela “Uyangwili chakaka, wangali mgosi.
18 For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly.
Muni wavi na vagosi mhanu, na mgosi mweutama nayu hinu mgosi waku lepi. Penapo ujovili chakaka.”
19 The woman says unto him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
Mdala yula akamjovela, “Bambu, niwona kuvya veve wa mlota wa Chapanga.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and all of you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Vagogo vitu vamufugamila Chapanga kuchitumbi ichi, nambu nyenye mwijova kuvya pandu pa kumuyupila Chapanga ndi ku Yelusalemu.”
21 Jesus says unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when all of you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Yesu akamjovela “Unisadika chenijova lwalabwela lukumbi nakumfugamila Dadi, panani ya chitumbi amala ku Yelusalemu kula.
22 All of you worship all of you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
Nyenye Vasamaliya mukumfugamila yula mwangammanya, nambu tete tikumfugamila yula mwetimumanyili, ndava muni usangula wihuma kwa Vayawudi.
23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit (pneuma) and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.
Nambu lukumbi lubwela, kangi lumali kubwela ndi vala vandu vevakumfugamila kwa uchakaka, yati vamfugamila Dadi mukulongoswa na Mpungu Msopi na chakaka. Muni dadi akuvagana vandu vamfugamila chenicho.
24 God is a Spirit: (pneuma) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (pneuma) and in truth.
Chapanga ndi Mpungu na vandu vevamfugamila yikuvagana vamfugamila Dadi mukulongoswa na Mpungu Msopi na kuumanya uchakaka.”
25 The woman says unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he has come, he will tell us all things.
Mdala yula akamjovela, “Nimanyili kuvya Msangula mweikemiwa Kilisitu ibwela. Peibwela yati akutimanyisa tete kila chindu.”
26 Jesus says unto her, I that speak unto you am he.
Yesu akamjovela, “Nene mwenilongela na veve ndi mwene.”
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her?
Bahapo vawuliwa vaki vakawuya, na kukangasa neju pavamuweni ilongela na mdala. Nambu kawaka mundu mweajovili, “Ugana kyani?” Amala, “Ndava kyani wilongela na mdala?”
28 The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the city, and says to the men,
Hinu, mdala yula akachileka chihulu chaki palapala na kuhamba kumuji na kuvajovela vandu,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
“Mbwela mukamlola mundu mweanijovili mambu goha genikitili! Wu, yihotoleka kuvya ndi Kilisitu Msangula?”
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
Vandu vakawuka kumuji na kumuhambila Yesu.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
Lukumbi lwenulo vawuliwa vaki vamyupili neju Yesu, “Muwula, ulyayi chakulya.”
32 But he said unto them, I have food to eat that all of you know not of.
Nambu Yesu akavajovela, “Nene nivii nachu chakulya chemwangachimanya nyenye.”
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has any man brought him ought to eat?
Vawuliwa vaki vakakotana vene kwa vene, “Wu, avi mundu mweamletili chakulya?”
34 Jesus says unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Yesu akavajovela, “Chakulya changu ndi kuhenga geigana yula mweanitumili na kumalakisa lihengu laki.
35 Say not all of you, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Nyenye mwijova, ‘Yakona miheyi mcheche ndu na lukumbi lwa kubena yati lubwela!’ Nambu nene nikuvajovela, myinula mihu ginu mlola migunda, mabenu gakangili giganikiwa kubenwa!
36 And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying (logos) true, One sows, and another reaps.
Vandu pevijova kuvya ‘Mundu mmonga imija na mundu yungi ibena, luhumu ulu ndi chakaka.’
38 I sent you to reap that whereon all of you bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and all of you are entered into their labours.
Nene navatumili nyenye mkabena changali lihengu, vangi vahengili lihengu, nambu nyenye mupatili utangatila ndava ya lihengu lavi.”
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying (logos) of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
Vasamaliya vamahele pachijiji chila vamsadiki Yesu ndava ya malovi geajovili mau yula, “Anijovili mambu goha genihengili.”
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
Vasamaliya vamhambili Yesu vakamuyupa neju atama navu, namwene akatama navu magono gavili.
41 And many more believed because of his own word; (logos)
Vandu vamahele, vamsadiki Yesu ndava ya malovi gaki.
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Vakamjovela mdala yula, “Tete tisadika, nambu lepi ndava ya malovi gaku, muni tavete tiyuwini na timanyili kuvya mwenuyu ndi chakaka Msangula wa vandu va pamulima.”
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
Pagamaliki magono gavili, Yesu akawuka penapo, akahamba ku Galilaya.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
Muni Yesu mwene ajovili hotohoto kuvya, “Mlota wa Chapanga nakuyidakiliwa pamulima waki.”
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
Hinu peahikili ku Galilaya, Vagalilaya vamahele vampokili. Ndava vagawene goha geahengili ku Yelusalemu, muni navene vavi kukoko kumselebuko wa Pasaka.
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
Chilongosi yula peayuwini kuvya Yesu ahumili ku Yudea na kuhika ku Galilaya, akamhambila na kumuyupa ahamba akamlamisa mwana waki mweavi mulung'olelu.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except all of you see signs and wonders, all of you will not believe.
Yesu akamjovela, “Nyenye changalola ulangisu na gachinamtiti katu mwisadika lepi!”
49 The nobleman says unto him, Sir, come down before my child die.
Yula chilongosi akamjovela, “Bambu, chondi tihamba kwakona mwana vangu kufwa.”
50 Jesus says unto him, Go your way; your son lives. And the man believed the word (logos) that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
Yesu akamjovela, “Uhambayi, mwana waku yati ilama.” Mundu yula akasadika malovi ga Yesu, akahamba.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Your son lives.
Peavi akona munjila akakonganeka na vatumisi vaki, vakamjovela kuvya mwana waku alamili!
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Mwene akavakota lukumbi msongolo pealamili, vene vakamyangula, “Golo saa saba ya muhi, utamu wamuhumili.”
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Your son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Dadi yula akamanya kuvya lwavi lukumbi lulolo, Yesu peamjovili “Mwana waku yati ilama.” Penapo mwene pamonga na valongo vaki vakamsadika Yesu.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Wenuwu wavi ulangisu wa kukangasa weahengili Yesu peawukili ku Yudea kuhamba ku Galilaya.
