< John 10 >

1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
Truly, truly, I say unto you, the one coming not in through the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbing up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
And the one coming in through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the gate keeper opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear His voice: and he calls His own sheep by name, and leads them out.
4 And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
When He may put out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow Him: because they know his voice:
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
but they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him: because they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This parable spoke Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spoke unto them.
He spoke this parable to them: but they did not know what things He was speaking to them.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
Then Jesus said, Truly, truly, I say unto you, that I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
All so many as came were thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
I am the door: if any one may enter in through me, he shall be saved; he shall go in and come out, and find pasture.
10 The thief comes not, but in order to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The thief does not come, but that he may steal, and slay, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
12 But he that is a worker, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and left the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.
The hireling, and the one not being the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees away, and the wolf seizes and scatters them:
13 The worker flees, because he is a worker, and cares not for the sheep.
because he is a hireling and there is not a care to him for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
I am the Good Shepherd; I know mine, and mine know me,
15 As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father; and I lay down My soul for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: and it behooves me to bring them and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore does my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Therefore my Father loves Me, because I lay down my soul, that I may take it again.
18 No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and power to receive it again. I received this commandment from my Father.
19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. (logos)
Again there was a schism among the Jews on account of these words.
20 And many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why hear all of you him?
Then many of them were saying, He has a demon, and is gone mad; why do you hear Him? Others were saying,
21 Others said, These are not the words (rhema) of him that has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
These are not the words of a demonized man. Whether is a demon able to open the eyes of the blind?
22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
And it was the feast of dedication in Jerusalem: and it was winter;
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's porch.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you be the Christ, tell us plainly.
Then the Jews surrounded Him, and said to Him, How long do you take away our soul?
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and all of you believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
If thou art the Christ, tell us openly. Jesus responded, I told you, and you do not believe: the works which I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me.
26 But all of you believe not, because all of you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
The Father, who has given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of the hand of the Father.
30 I and my Father are one.
I and the Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Again the Jews took up stones, that they might stone Him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do all of you stone me?
Jesus responded to them, I have shown unto you many beautiful works from the Father; on account of which of these do you stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.
The Jews responded to Him, We do not stone Thee for good work, but for blasphemy; because Thou, being a man, art making Thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, All of you are gods?
And Jesus responded to them, Is it not written in your law, that I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word (logos) of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture is not able to be broken),
36 Say all of you of him, whom the Father has sanctified, and sent into the world, You blaspheme; because I said, I am the Son of God?
whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, do you say; Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though all of you believe not me, believe the works: that all of you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
If I do, believe not me, believe the works: that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.
39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
They sought again to take Him: and He passed out of their hand.
40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
And again He departed beyond the Jordan into the place where John was first baptizing; and remained there:
41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spoke of this man were true.
and many came to Hint, and said, that John indeed did no miracle; but all things so many as John spoke concerning this One are true.
42 And many believed on him there.
And many believed on Him there.
