< Job 14 >
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
“Ènìyàn tí a bí nínú obìnrin, ọlọ́jọ́ díẹ̀ ni, ó sì kún fún ìpọ́njú.
2 He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down: he flees also as a shadow, and continues not.
Ó jáde wá bí ìtànná ewéko, a sì ké e lulẹ̀; ó sì ń fò lọ bí òjìji, kò sì dúró pẹ́.
3 And does you open your eyes upon such an one, and bring me into judgment with you?
Ìwọ sì ń síjú rẹ wò irú èyí ni? Ìwọ sì mú mi wá sínú ìdájọ́ pẹ̀lú rẹ?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
Ta ni ó lè mú ohun mímọ́ láti inú àìmọ́ jáde wá? Kò sí ẹnìkan!
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with you, you have appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Ǹjẹ́ a ti pinnu ọjọ́ rẹ̀, iye oṣù rẹ̀ ń bẹ ní ọwọ́ rẹ, ìwọ ti pààlà rẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ní òun kò le kọjá rẹ̀.
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as a worker, his day.
Yípadà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, kí ó lè sinmi, títí yóò fi pé ọjọ́ rẹ̀ bí alágbàṣe.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
“Nítorí pé ìrètí wà fún igi, bí a bá ké e lulẹ̀, pé yóò sì tún sọ, àti pé ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ tuntun kì yóò gbẹ.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Bí gbòǹgbò rẹ̀ tilẹ̀ di ogbó nínú ilẹ̀, tí kùkùté rẹ̀ si kú ni ilẹ̀,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
síbẹ̀ nígbà tí ó bá gbóòórùn omi, yóò sọ, yóò sì yọ ẹ̀ka jáde bí irúgbìn.
10 But man dies, and wastes away: yea, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?
Ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn kú, a sì dàánù, àní ènìyàn jọ̀wọ́ ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́: Òun kò sì sí mọ́.
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decays and dries up:
“Bí omi ti í tán nínú ipa odò, àti bí odò ṣì tí í fà tí sì gbẹ,
12 So man lies down, and rises not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ènìyàn dùbúlẹ̀ tí kò sì dìde mọ́; títí ọ̀run kì yóò fi sí mọ́, wọ́n kì yóò jí, a kì yóò jí wọn kúrò lójú oorun wọn.
13 O that you would hide me in the grave, that you would keep me secret, until your wrath be past, that you would appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol )
“Háà! ìwọ ìbá fi mí pamọ́ ní ipò òkú, kí ìwọ kí ó fi mí pamọ́ ní ìkọ̀kọ̀, títí ìbínú rẹ yóò fi rékọjá, ìwọ ìbá lànà ìgbà kan sílẹ̀ fún mi, kí ó si rántí mi! (Sheol )
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Bí ènìyàn bá kú yóò sì tún yè bí? Gbogbo ọjọ́ ìgbà tí a là sílẹ̀ fún mi ni èmi dúró dè, títí àmúdọ̀tún mi yóò fi dé.
15 You shall call, and I will answer you: you will have a desire to the work of your hands.
Ìwọ ìbá pè, èmi ìbá sì dá ọ lóhùn; ìwọ ó sì ní ìfẹ́ sì iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ.
16 For now you number my steps: do you not watch over my sin?
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí ìwọ ń kaye ìṣísẹ̀ mi; ìwọ kò fa ọwọ́ rẹ kúrò nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mi?
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and you sew up mine iniquity.
A fi èdìdì di ìrékọjá mi sínú àpò, ìwọ sì rán àìṣedéédéé mi pọ̀.
18 And surely the mountains falling comes to nothing, and the rock is removed out of his place.
“Àti nítòótọ́ òkè ńlá tí ó ṣubú, ó dasán, a sì ṣí àpáta kúrò ní ipò rẹ̀.
19 The waters wear the stones: you wash away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and you destroys the hope of man.
Omi a máa yinrin òkúta, ìwọ a sì mú omi sàn bo ohun tí ó hù jáde lórí ilẹ̀, ìwọ sì sọ ìrètí ènìyàn dí òfo.
20 You prevail for ever against him, and he passes: you change his countenance, and send him away.
Ìwọ ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀ láéláé, òun sì kọjá lọ! Ìwọ pa awọ ojú rẹ̀ dà, o sì rán an lọ kúrò.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knows it not; and they are brought low, but he perceives it not of them.
Àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ bọ́ sí ipò ọlá, òun kò sì mọ̀; wọ́n sì rẹ̀ sílẹ̀, òun kò sì kíyèsi i lára wọn.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹran-ara rẹ̀ ni yóò rí ìrora ọkàn rẹ̀ ni yóò sì máa ní ìbìnújẹ́ nínú rẹ̀.”
