< Jeremiah 5 >

1 Run all of you back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if all of you can find a man, if there be any that executes judgment, that seeks the truth; and I will pardon it.
“Wuothi e yore mag Jerusalem duto, rang koni gi koni kiparo, kendo kimanyo kuondege duto. Kinyalo yudo kata mana ngʼato achiel, ma ja-ratiro kendo madwaro adiera, to abiro ngʼwonone dala maduongʼni.
2 And though they say, The LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.
Kata obedo ni gisingore niya, ‘Akwongʼora gi nying Jehova Nyasaye mangima,’ pod gikwongʼore mar miriambo.”
3 O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? you have stricken them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
Yaye Jehova Nyasaye, donge wengeni manyo adiera? Ne igoyogi, to ne ok giwinjo rem; ne ikidhogi matindo tindo, to ne ok gilokore. Negimiyo wengegi obedo matek moloyo kidi mi gitamore hulo richogi.
4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.
To ne aparo ni, “Magi gin mana joma odhier; kendo gifuwo; nimar ok gingʼeyo yor Jehova Nyasaye kod dwaro mar Nyasachgi.
5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
Omiyo anadhi ir jotelo kendo awuo kodgi; adiera gingʼeyo yor Jehova Nyasaye, kod dwaro mar Nyasachgi.” To gi chuny achiel gin bende negituro jok, kendo gichodo rateke.
6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goes out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
Emomiyo sibuor moa e bungu nomonjgi, ondiek moa e thim nokidhgi, kwach noliwgi but miechgi mondo okidh matindo tindo, ngʼato angʼata manohedhre wuok oko, nimar ngʼanyo margi duongʼ kendo gisebaro nyadi mangʼeny.
7 How shall I pardon you for this? your children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.
Angʼo ma dimi awenu richou? Nyithindu osejwangʼa, kendo osekwongʼore gi nyiseche ma ok nyiseche. Asemiyogi gigo duto magidwaro, kata kamano giterore kendo gipongʼo ute ochode.
8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.
Jogo oowre gi gombo, gichalo farese moyiengʼ, ma gombo ohewo ka moro, ka moro kuomgi gombo mana chi ngʼat machielo.
9 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Donge dakumgi kuom ma?” Donge onego akel kum ne oganda machalo kama?
10 Go all of you up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.
Dhi e puothege mag mzabibu kendo ichadhgi, to kik ikethgi chuth. Lwer bedene, nimar jogi ok gin mek Jehova Nyasaye.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, says the LORD.
Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Od Israel kod od Juda ok osebedona jo-ratiro chutho.”
12 They have lied concerning the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
Giseriambo kuom Jehova Nyasaye; kagiwacho, “Onge gima obiro timo! Ok wanahinyre; ok wanane ligangla kata kech.
13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
Jonabi chalo mana yamo kendo wach onge eigi; omiyo we gima giwacho otimre ne gin giwegi.”
14 Wherefore thus says the LORD God of hosts, Because all of you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
Emomiyo ma e gima Jehova Nyasaye, Nyasaye Maratego wacho: “Nikech ji osewacho wechegi, abiro keto wechega manie dhogi mach, to jogi nobed yien maliel.”
15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, says the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you know not, neither understand what they say.
Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “Yaye od Israel, akelo oganda moa mabor mondo oked kodu, gin oganda machon kendo man-gi sinani, jogo ma ok ungʼe dhogi, bende wechegi ok unyal winjo tiendgi.
16 Their quiver is as an open tomb, they are all mighty men.
Gigegi mitingʼoe asere chalo gi liel ma dhoge oyawore; giduto gin jolweny maroteke.
17 And they shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat: they shall eat up your flocks and your herds: they shall eat up your vines and your fig trees: they shall impoverish your fenced cities, wherein you trusted, with the sword.
Giniyak chambu kod chiembu, ginitiek yawuotu gi nyiu; kendo ginineg jambu kod dhou, bende giniketh yiende mzabibu mau kod yiende mag ngʼopeu. Miechu madongo mochiel gohinga motegno mugeno kuomgi nokethi gi ligangla.”
18 Nevertheless in those days, says the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
Jehova Nyasaye wacho niya, “To kata bende e ndalogo, ok anatieku chuth.
19 And it shall come to pass, when all of you shall say, Wherefore does the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shall you answer them, Like all of you have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall all of you serve strangers in a land that is not your's.
To ka ji openjo ni, ‘Angʼo momiyo Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachwa osetimonwa ma?’ Wachnegiuru ni, ‘Kaka usejwangʼa kendo usetiyone nyiseche mag pinje mamoko ei pinyu uwegi, omiyo koro ubiro tiyone ogendini mamoko ei piny ma ok maru.’
20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
“Land ma ne od Jakobo kendo go milomeno ne Juda:
21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
Winj ma, un jogo mofuwo kendo onge wigi, joma nigi wengegi to ok nen, joma nigi it to ok winj wach:
22 Fear all of you not me? says the LORD: will all of you not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Donge onego umiya luor?” Jehova Nyasaye owacho. “Donge dutetni e nyim wangʼa? Ne aketo kuoyo obedo kiewo mar nam, ragengʼ manyaka chiengʼ ma ok onyal kalo. Apaka nyalo gingore, to ok ginyal kalo; ginyalo ruto, to ok ginyal kalo dhi loka kocha.
23 But this people has a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
To jogi wigi tek kendo chunygi bor koda omiyo gisebaro mi giweya.
24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserves unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Ok giwach e kindgi giwegi, ‘Mad waluor Jehova Nyasaye ma Nyasachwa, mamiyowa kodh chwiri kod kodh opon e kinde mowinjore, ma singonwa gadiera jumbe mag keyo.’
25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you.
Timbeu maricho osetamou nwangʼo gigi; richou osetamou neno maber.
26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
“E dier joga nitiere joma timbegi mono ma buto ka jogo machiko winy, kendo kaka jogo maketo obadho mar mako ji.
27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and becoming rich.
Kaka ute mopongʼ gi winy, e kaka utegi bende opongʼ gi wuondruok; gisebedo jo-mwandu, kendo joma nigi teko mangʼeny,
28 They are becoming fat, they shine: yea, they pass over the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
kendo gisebedo machwe kendo dendgi leny. Timbegi mamono onge giko; ok gikony nyithi kiye mondo olo bura, bende ok gikony joma odhier e ratiro mag-gi,
29 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
donge dakumgi kuom ma?” Jehova Nyasaye owacho. “Donge dakel kum mara kuom oganda machalo kama?
30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
“Gima lich kendo mabwogo ji osetimore e piny:
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will all of you do in the end thereof?
Jonabi koro miriambo, jodolo tiyo gi tekogi giwegi, kendo joga ohero mana gik ma kamago. To en angʼo ma ibiro timo e ndalo mogik?
