< Jeremiah 38 >

1 Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying,
Hahoi, Mattan capa Shephatiah, Pashhur capa Gedaliah, Shelemiah capa Jukal hoi Malkhijah capa Pashur tinaw ni, tami moikapap koe Jeremiah ni,
2 Thus says the LORD, He that remains in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goes forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.
BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, hete khopui dawk kaawm rae hah tahloi, takang hoi lacik hoi a due awh han. Hatei, Khaldean taminaw koe ka kâhmoun e tami teh a hring han. A hringnae teh ahnimouh koe poe e phu lah ao vaih a hring han.
3 Thus says the LORD, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, which shall take it.
4 Therefore the princes said unto the king, We plead to you, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakens the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.
Hatdawkvah, kahrawikungnaw ni siangpahrang koevah pahren lahoi hete tami heh thei e lah awm naseh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, ahni ni ahnimouh koe hettelah lawk a dei teh, hete khopui thung e taran ka tuk hane naw hoi taminaw tha a youn sak. Hete tami ni taminaw hawi nahane tawng laipalah thoenae doeh a tawng telah ati awh.
5 Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you.
Siangpahrang Zedekiah ni khenhaw! ahni teh nangmae kut dawk poe lah ao toe nahoehmaw. Bangkongtetpawiteh, siangpahrang ni na ngai awh hoeh e ouk sak thai boihoeh telah a ti.
6 Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.
Jeremiah a ceikhai awh teh, ramveng rapan thung kaawm e siangpahrang capa Malkhijah talai rahim tangkom dawk a tâkhawng awh. Jeremiah teh tangkom thung tangdong dawk a pabo awh teh, tangdong dawk ao.
7 Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, one of the eunuchs which was in the king's house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the dungeon; the king then sitting in the gate of Benjamin;
Ethiopia tami siangpahrang im ouk kaawm boi e, Ebedmelek ni Jeremiah talai thung tangkom dawk a ta tie hah a la thai. Hatnavah siangpahrang teh Benjamin longkha koe a la tahung.
8 Ebedmelech went forth out of the king's house, and spoke to the king saying,
Ebedmelek teh siangpahrang im hoi a tâco teh, siangpahrang koevah,
9 My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
ka bawipa siangpahrang, hete taminaw ni profet Jeremiah talai thung tangkom dawk pabo e hah kalenpounge yonnae a sak awh e doeh. Vonhlam hoi a onae hmuen koe a due yawkaw han doeh, bangkongtetpawiteh, khopui thung vaiyei awm hoeh toe telah a ti.
10 Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from behind thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die.
Hahoi siangpahrang ni Ethiopia tami Ebedmelek hah kâ a poe teh hi hoi tami 30 touh hoi cet awh nateh, talai thung tangkom dawk a due hoehnahlan profet Jeremiah teh lat awh telah kâ a poe.
11 So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.
Hottelah Ebedmelek ni tami a ceikhai teh, siangpahrang hnopai tanae im rahim a kâen teh angki karuem tâkhawng e hoi hnikapon hah a la teh, tangkom thung Jeremiah koe rui hoi a pabo pouh.

13 So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the dungeon: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
Jeremiah teh talai thung tangkom dawk hoi rui hoi a rasa awh. Hottelah, Jeremiah teh ramvengnaw e rapan thung ka saw lah ao.
14 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will ask you a thing; hide nothing from me.
15 Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto you, will you not surely put me to death? and if I give you counsel, will you not hearken unto me?
16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD lives, that made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men that seek your life.
Siangpahrang Zedekiah ni, BAWIPA ka hringnae kasakkung a hring e patetlah na thet mahoeh, nang na ka thet hane naw hai na poe mahoeh, telah arulahoi thoe a kâbo.
17 Then said Jeremiah unto Zedekiah, Thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If you will assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon's princes, then your soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with fire; and you shall live, and your house:
Hat toteh, Jeremiah ni BAWIPA Isarel Cathut ransahu BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, Babilon siangpahrang kahrawikungnaw koe na kâhmoun awh pawiteh, na hringnae a hlout han, hete khopui hai hmai kang mahoeh, nama hoi na imthungnaw hai na hring awh han.
18 But if you will not go forth to the king of Babylon's princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape out of their hand.
Hatei, Babilon siangpahrang kahrawikungnaw koe na kâhmoun awh hoehpawiteh, hete khopui heh Khaldean taminaw kut dawk poe lah ao han, hmaisawi awh vaiteh, ahnimae kut dawk hoi na hlout awh roeroe mahoeh telah atipouh.
19 And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.
20 But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver you. Obey, I plead to you, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto you: so it shall be well unto you, and your soul shall live.
21 But if you refuse to go forth, this is the word that the LORD has showed me:
Hatei, na kâhmoun hoehpawiteh, hethateh BAWIPA e lawk ni na hmusak e doeh.
22 And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon's princes, and those women shall say, Your friends have set you on, and have prevailed against you: your feet are sunk in the mire, and they are turned away back.
Khenhaw! Judah siangpahrang im dawk kaawm e napuinaw pueng Babilon siangpahrangnaw koevah, ceikhai lah ao vaiteh, hote napuinaw niyah, na hui kahawinaw ni na dum awh teh na tâ awh toe, na khok hah tangdong dawk a mang tahma vah koung na cei takhai awh han, telah ati awh han.
23 So they shall bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans: and you shall not escape out of their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.
Na yu na canaw hah Khaldean taminaw koe a ceikhai awh vaiteh, a kut dawk hoi na tâcawtkhai mahoeh toe. Babilon siangpahrang kut dawk man e lah na o vaiteh, nang kecu dawk hete khopui hmaisawi awh han telah atipouh.
24 Then said Zedekiah unto Jeremiah, Let no man know of these words, and you shall not die.
Zedekiah ni Jeremiah koevah, hete lawk apinihai thai hanh naseh, telah pawiteh na dout mahoeh telah atipouh.
25 But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come unto you, and say unto you, Declare unto us now what you have said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put you to death; also what the king said unto you:
Hatei, kahrawikungnaw ni a kâpato roi e hah a thai awh. Nang koe a tho awh teh, siangpahrang na dei e hoi siangpahrang ni nang koe a dei e hai na dei pouh haw, kaimouh koe banghai pâphat hanh, na thet awh mahoeh, telah tet awh pawiteh,
26 Then you shall say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Jonathan's house, to die there.
Ahnimouh koevah Jonathan im lah na ban sak nateh, hawvah ka due hoeh nahane lah doeh siangpahrang koe ka kâhei, telah na ti pouh han telah atipouh.
27 Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
Hahoi, Jeremiah koe a tho awh toteh kahrawikungnaw ni a pacei awh. Siangpahrang ni kâ a poe e patetlah a dei pouh. Hat toteh, bout pacei awh hoeh toe. Bangkongtetpawiteh, pouknae hah panuek awh hoeh.
