Jeremiah 31
1 At the same time, says the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
En aquel tiempo, dice Yahvé, seré Yo el Dios de todas las tribus de Israel, y ellas serán mi pueblo.
2 Thus says the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
Así dice Yahvé: Halló gracia en el desierto el pueblo que se libró de la espada; Israel llegó a su descanso.
3 The LORD has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.
Desde lejos se me apareció Yahvé (diciendo): “Con amor eterno te he amado, por eso no dejé de compadecerte.
4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin of Israel: you shall again be adorned with your timbrels, and shall go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
De nuevo te edificaré, y quedarás edificada, virgen de Israel; todavía te adornarás con tus tamboriles y saldrás a alegres danzas.
5 You shall yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
Todavía plantarás viñas sobre los montes de Samaria; plantarán los plantadores y se gozarán.
6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise all of you, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
Porque tiempo vendrá en que los atalayas clamarán sobre los montes de Efraím: «¡Levantaos y subamos a Sión, a Yahvé, nuestro Dios!»
7 For thus says the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish all of you, praise all of you, and say, O LORD, save your people, the remnant of Israel.
Porque así dice Yahvé: Cantad con alegría loores a Jacob, exaltad porque es el primero de los pueblos, pregonad, cantad y exclamad: «¡Yahvé, salva a tu pueblo, el resto de Israel!»
8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that labors with child together: a great company shall return thither.
He aquí que Yo los traeré de la tierra del Norte, y los recogeré de los extremos de la tierra; entre ellos también al ciego y al cojo, a la mujer que está encinta, como a aquella que da a luz. Grande será la muchedumbre de los que volverán aquí.
9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
Vendrán llorando, pero Yo los conduciré con misericordia; los guiaré a corrientes de agua, por un camino recto donde no tropezarán, porque Yo soy Padre para Israel, y Efraím es mi primogénito.”
10 Hear the word of the LORD, O all of you nations, and declare it in the isles far off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock.
Escuchad la palabra de Yahvé, naciones, anunciadla a las islas remotas, y decid: “El que dispersó a Israel, lo recoge, y lo guarda como el pastor a su rebaño.”
11 For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
Porque Yahvé ha rescatado a Jacob, lo ha librado del poder de uno que era más fuerte que él.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
Vendrán y exaltarán sobre las alturas de Sión, y concurrirán a los bienes de Yahvé, al trigo, al vino, al aceite, a las crías de ovejas y de vacas; y será su alma como jardín regado, y no padecerán ya necesidades.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
Entonces las doncellas, danzando en coro, se regocijarán, y los jóvenes a una con los ancianos; pues Yo trocaré su duelo en alegría, los consolaré, y los llenaré de gozo en cambio de su dolor.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD.
Saciaré de grosura el alma de los sacerdotes, y mi pueblo se hartará de mis bienes”, dice Yahvé.
15 Thus says the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
Así dice Yahvé: “Se oye una voz en Ramá, gemidos y llanto amargo. Es Raquel que llora a sus hijos, rehúsa consolarse de la suerte de sus hijos que ya no existen”.
16 Thus says the LORD; Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
Así dice Yahvé: Cese tu voz de llorar, y tus ojos de derramar lágrimas, pues será recompensada tu pena —oráculo de Yahvé—, volverán del país del enemigo.
17 And there is hope in your end, says the LORD, that your children shall come again to their own border.
Hay esperanza para tus días postreros —oráculo de Yahvé—, pues tus hijos volverán a su tierra.
18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock is not accustomed to the yoke: turn you me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD my God.
He oído con atención a Efraím que así se lamentaba: “Tú me has castigado, y yo cual indómito novillo he sido corregido. ¡Conviérteme y yo me convertiré! pues Tú eres Yahvé, mi Dios.
19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I stroke upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.
Porque después de mi defección, me he arrepentido, y después de volver en mí, me azoté el muslo; estoy avergonzado y confuso, pues llevo el oprobio de mi juventud.”
20 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spoke against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, says the LORD.
¿No es Efraím para Mí un hijo querido, un niño predilecto? pues cuanto más hablo contra él, con tanto mayor cariño lo recuerdo; por eso se conmueven por él mis entrañas, no puedo dejar de apiadarme de él, dice Yahvé.
21 Set you up guideposts, make you high heaps: set your heart toward the highway, even the way which you went: return, O virgin of Israel, return to these your cities.
Plántate hitos, asienta jalones, pon tu atención en el camino, el camino por donde fuiste. ¡Vuelve, virgen de Israel, regresa a estas tus ciudades!
22 How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? for the LORD has created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.
¿Hasta cuándo andas errando, hija infiel? pues Yahvé ha hecho una cosa nueva sobre la tierra: la mujer rodeará al varón.
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless you, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.
Así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: “Otra vez al tornar Yo su cautiverio, dirán en el país de Judá y en sus ciudades: «¡Te bendiga Yahvé, oh Morada de la justicia, oh Monte santo!»
24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.
Y habitarán allí Judá y todas sus ciudades juntamente, los labradores y los pastores de rebaños.
25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.
Porque saciaré al alma que desfallece y hartaré a toda alma decaída.”
26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
Con esto me desperté, y vi que me fue dulce mi sueño.
27 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
“He aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que sembraré la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá con simiente de hombres y con simiente de bestias.
28 And it shall come to pass, that like I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, says the LORD.
Y de la misma manera que velaba sobre ellos para arrancar y derribar, para destruir y arruinar y hacer daño, así velaré sobre ellos para edificar y plantar, dice Yahvé.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
En aquellos días no se dirá más: «Los padres comieron agraces, y los hijos sufren la dentera.»
30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eats the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Cada uno morirá por su propia maldad; y solo aquel que coma agraces sufrirá la dentera.
31 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
He aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que haré una nueva alianza con la casa de Israel, y con la casa de Judá;
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, says the LORD:
no como la alianza que hice con sus padres cuando los tomé de la mano para sacarlos de la tierra de Egipto. Ellos quebrantaron esa alianza, y Yo les hice sentir mi mano, dice Yahvé.
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Esta será la alianza que haré con la casa de Israel después de aquellos días, dice Yahvé: Pondré mi ley en sus entrañas, y la escribiré en sus corazones; y Yo seré su Dios, y ellos serán mi pueblo.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Y no tendrán ya que enseñar cada cual a su compañero y cada cual a su hermano, diciendo: «¡Conoced a Yahvé!» porque todos ellos me conocerán, desde el menor hasta el mayor, dice Yahvé; porque perdonaré su iniquidad, y no me acordaré más de sus pecados.”
35 Thus says the LORD, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Así dice Yahvé, el que ha establecido el sol para alumbrar el día, y leyes a la luna y a las estrellas para que alumbren de noche; el que alborota el mar, de modo que bramen sus olas, Yahvé de los ejércitos es su Nombre.
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, says the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
“Si cesan estas leyes ante Mí, dice Yahvé, entonces también el linaje de Israel para siempre cesará de ser nación delante de Mí.
37 Thus says the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD.
Así dice Yahvé: Si pueden medirse los cielos arriba, y escudriñarse los cimientos de la tierra abajo, también Yo desecharé a toda la raza de Israel, por todo lo que han hecho, dice Yahvé.
38 Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.
He aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que la ciudad será edificada para Yahvé desde la torre de Hananeel hasta la puerta del Ángulo;
39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth opposite to it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
y la cuerda de medir seguirá en línea recta hasta la colina de Gareb, dando vuelta después hacia Goa.
40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
Y todo el valle de los cadáveres y de las cenizas, y todos los campos hasta el torrente Cedrón, y hasta la esquina de la puerta de los Caballos, al oriente, serán consagrados a Yahvé; no serán arrancados ni destruidos jamás.
