Jeremiah 13
1 Thus says the LORD unto me, Go and get you a linen girdle, and put it upon your loins, and put it not in water.
So sprach Jahwe zu mir: Gehe hin und kaufe dir einen linnenen Gürtel und lege ihn um deine Hüften, aber in Wasser laß ihn nicht kommen!
2 So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.
Da kaufte ich den Gürtel, wie Jahwe geboten, und legte ihn um meine Hüften.
3 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,
Sodann erging das Wort Jahwes zum zweiten Mal an mich, also lautend:
4 Take the girdle that you have got, which is upon your loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
Nimm den Gürtel an deinen Hüften, den du gekauft hast, begieb dich nach dem Euphrat und verbirg ihn dort in einer Felsenspalte!
5 So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.
Da ging ich hin und verbarg ihn am Euphrat, wie mir Jahwe befohlen hatte.
6 And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded you to hide there.
Nach Verlauf einer geraumen Zeit aber sprach Jahwe zu mir: Begieb dich nach dem Euphrat und hole von dort den Gürtel, den ich dir dort zu verbergen befohlen habe!
7 Then I went to Euphrates, and dug, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was ruined, it was profitable for nothing.
Da ging ich nach dem Euphrat, grub nach und nahm den Gürtel von der Stelle, an der ich ihn verborgen hatte, aber siehe da - der Gürtel war verdorben, taugte zu nichts mehr.
8 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Da erging das Wort Jahwes an mich folgendermaßen:
9 Thus says the LORD, After this manner will I ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
So spricht Jahwe: Ebenso will ich den Hochmut Judas und den Hochmut Jerusalems, den gewaltigen, ins Verderben stürzen.
10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Diese ruchlosen Menschen, die sich weigern, meine Worte zu hören, die starrsinnig nach ihrem Sinne wandeln und andern Göttern nachfolgten, ihnen zu dienen und sich vor ihnen niederzuwerfen, - sie sollen wie dieser Gürtel werden, der zu nichts mehr taugt.
11 For as the girdle cleaves to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
Denn gleichwie sich der Gürtel an die Hüften eines Mannes anschmiegt, so hatte ich das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda sich an mich anschmiegen lassen - ist der Spruch Jahwes -, damit es mein Volk und mein Ruhm, mein Lobpreis und meine Zier sei, aber sie gehorchten nicht.
12 Therefore you shall speak unto them this word; Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
So sprich nun zu ihnen dieses Wort: So spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: Jeglicher Krug wird mit Wein gefüllt! Sagen sie dann zu dir: Sollten wir wirklich nicht wissen, daß jeglicher Krug mit Wein gefüllt wird?
13 Then shall you say unto them, Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
so sage zu ihnen: So spricht Jahwe: Fürwahr, ich will alle Bewohner dieses Landes und die Könige, die als Nachkommen Davids auf seinem Throne sitzen, und die Priester und die Propheten und alle Bewohner Jerusalems mit Trunkenheit füllen
14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
und will sie einen an dem andern zerschmettern, und zwar die Väter und die Söhne miteinander - ist der Spruch Jahwes; keine Schonung oder Mitleid will ich üben, noch will ich mich erbarmen, daß ich sie nicht verderben sollte.
15 Hear all of you, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD has spoken.
So hört doch und merkt auf! Seid nicht hochmütig, denn Jahwe hat geredet!
16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while all of you look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
Gebt Jahwe, eurem Gotte, die Ehre, bevor es finster wird, und bevor sich eure Füße an finstern Bergen stoßen; da werdet ihr freilich auf Licht harren, er aber wird's in tiefe Finsternis verwandeln und zu dichtem Dunkel gestalten.
17 But if all of you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.
Wenn ihr aber nicht darauf hört, so will ich im Verborgenen ob des Hochmuts weinen, und unaufhörlich thränen, ja in Thränen zerfließen soll mein Auge, weil die Herde Jahwes gefangen fortgeführt wird.
18 Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.
Sprich zum Könige und zur Herrin: Setzt euch tief herunter, denn herabgesunken ist euer Hauptschmuck, eure prächtige Krone!
19 The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.
Die Städte des Südlands sind verschlossen und niemand öffnet sie mehr, weggeführt wird Juda insgesamt, vollzählig weggeführt!
20 Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock?
Hebe deine Augen auf und sieh, wie sie vom Norden her kommen: Wo ist die Herde, die dir anvertraut war, deine prächtigen Schafe?
21 What will you say when he shall punish you? for you have taught them to be captains, and as chief over you: shall not sorrows take you, as a woman in travail?
Was wirst du sagen, wenn er dir deine Buhlen - du hast sie ja selbst an dich gewöhnt! - zum Oberhaupte setzen wird? Werden dich da nicht Wehen packen wie ein gebärendes Weib?
22 And if you say in your heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts discovered, and your heels made bare.
Und wenn du in deinem Innern sprechen wolltest: Warum hat mich solches betroffen? - ob der Größe deiner Verschuldung ist deine Schleppe aufgedeckt, sind deine Fersen mißhandelt!
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may all of you also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
Kann wohl ein Mohr seine Haut verwandeln oder ein Pardel seine Flecken? Dann würdet auch ihr gut zu handeln vermögen, die ihr gewohnt seid, Böses zu thun.
24 Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.
Und so will ich sie denn zerstreuen wie Stoppeln, die dahinfahren vor dem Wüstenwind.
25 This is your lot, the portion of your measures from me, says the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
Das ist dein Los, dein Anteil, den ich dir zugemessen, ist der Spruch Jahwes, weil du mich vergessen hast und auf Lüge vertrautest.
26 Therefore will I discover your skirts upon your face, that your shame may appear.
Darum auch decke ich dir vorne die Schleppe auf, daß deine Schande sichtbar werde!
27 I have seen your adulteries, and your neighings, the lewdness of your whoredom, and your abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto you, O Jerusalem! will you not be made clean? when shall it once be?
Deine Ehebrecherei und dein geiles Gewieher, deine schandbare Hurerei, - auf den Hügeln im freien Felde habe ich deine Greuel gesehen! Wehe dir, Jerusalem, du wirst nicht rein werden - nach wie lange noch?
