Isaiah 47
1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for you shall no more be called tender and delicate.
Ven y toma tu asiento en el polvo, oh virgen hija de Babilonia; desciende de tu asiento de poder y ocupa tu lugar en la tierra, oh hija de los caldeos; nunca volverán a llamarte tierna y delicada.
2 Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover your locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
Toma la piedra de moler y muele el cereal; quítate el velo, quita la túnica, deja que tus piernas se descubran, atraviesa los ríos.
3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, your shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet you as a man.
Todos verán la vergüenza de tu condición sin ropa. Tomaré venganza; y no te encontraré como hombre.
4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Dice el Señor que nos redimió; el Señor de los ejércitos es su nombre, el Santo de Israel.
5 Sit you silent, and get you into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for you shall no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
Siéntate en la oscuridad sin decir palabra, hija de los caldeos; porque ya no serás nombrada Reina de los Reinos.
6 I was angry with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into your hand: you did show them no mercy; upon the ancient have you very heavily laid your yoke.
Me enojé con mi pueblo, profané mi heredad y los entregué en tus manos; no tuviste misericordia de ellos; y pusiste un yugo cruel a los viejos;
7 And you said, I shall be a lady for ever: so that you did not lay these things to your heart, neither did remember the latter end of it.
Y dijiste: Seré una reina para siempre; no prestaste atención a estas cosas, y no tuviste en cuenta lo que vendría después.
8 Therefore hear now this, you that are given to pleasures, that dwell carelessly, that say in your heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
Ahora, toma nota de esto, tú, que estás entregado al placer, viviendo sin temor al mal, diciendo en tu corazón: Yo soy, y no hay nadie como yo; Nunca seré viuda ni me quitarán a mis hijos.
9 But these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon you in their perfection for the multitude of your sorceries, and for the great abundance of your enchantments.
Pero estas dos cosas vendrán sobre ti de repente en un día, la pérdida de los hijos y del esposo; en toda medida vendrán sobre ti, a pesar de todas tus hechicerías todas tus encantamientos.
10 For you have trusted in your wickedness: you have said, None sees me. Your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you; and you have said in your heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Porque tuviste fe en tu maldad; Tú dijiste: Nadie me ve; por tu sabiduría y conocimiento has sido apartada del camino, y has dicho en tu corazón: Yo soy, y no hay otro.
11 Therefore shall evil come upon you; you shall not know from whence it rises: and mischief shall fall upon you; you shall not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon you suddenly, which you shall not know.
A causa de este mal vendrá sobre ti, que no puede ser rechazado por ningún precio; y los problemas te alcanzarán, de los cuales ningún dinero dará la salvación; la destrucción te llegará de repente, sin tu conocimiento.
12 Stand now with your enchantments, and with the multitude of your sorceries, wherein you have laboured from your youth; if so be you shall be able to profit, if so be you may prevail.
Continúa ahora con tus hechicerías todos tus encantamientos, a las que te has entregado desde tu juventud; puede ser que sean beneficiosos para ti, tal vez causarás temor.
13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly sign tellers, stand up, and save you from these things that shall come upon you.
Pero a tu mente le preocupa el número de tus guías: haz que vengan ahora por tu salvación: los medidores de los cielos, los observadores de las estrellas y los que pueden decir mes a mes qué cosas vienen sobre ti.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
En verdad, se han vuelto como paja, se han quemado en el fuego; no son capaces de mantenerse a salvo del poder de la llama; no habrá brasa para calentarse, o un fuego por el cual un hombre puede sentarse frente a él y calentarse.
15 Thus shall they be unto you with whom you have laboured, even your merchants, from your youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save you.
Así han venido a ser para ti aquellos con quienes has trabajado, desde los primeros días, que han negociado contigo desde tu juventud; han ido en vuelo, todos se han extraviado en su propio camino, y no habrá quien te salve.
