Genesis 11
1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
És volt az egész föld egy nyelvű és egyforma beszédű.
2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
És történt, midőn elvonultak keletről, találtak egy völgyet Sineor országában és letelepedtek ott.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and bitumen had they for mortar.
És mondta egyik a másiknak: Nosza! vessünk téglát és égessük azt égetett téglává; és lett számukra a tégla kő gyanánt és a gyanta volt számukra vakolat gyanánt.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
És mondták: Nosza! építsünk magunknak várost és tornyot, csúcsa az eget érje, hogy szerezzünk magunknak nevet, hogy el ne széledjünk az egész föld színén.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
És leszállott az Örökkévaló, hogy megnézze a várost és a tornyot, melyet építettek az ember fiai.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
És mondta az Örökkévaló: Íme, egy nép és egy nyelve van mindnyájuknak s ez az, amit ők tenni kezdtek és most nem lesz megvonható tőlük semmi, amit tenni szándékoznak.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
Nosza! szálljunk le és zavarjuk el legott nyelvüket, hogy ne értse meg egyik a másik nyelvét.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
És elszórta őket onnan az Örökkévaló az egész föld színére és abbahagyták a város építését.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Azért nevezték Bábelnek, mert ott zavarta meg az Örökkévaló az egész föld nyelvét és onnan szórta el őket az Örökkévaló az egész föld színére.
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and brings forth Arphaxad two years after the flood:
Ezek nemzetségei Sémnek; Sém száz éves volt, midőn nemzette Árpáchsodot, két évvel az özönvíz után.
11 And Shem lived after he brings forth Arphaxad five hundred years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Sém, miután Árpáchsodot nemzette, ötszáz évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
12 And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and brings forth Salah:
Árpáchsod pedig élt harmincöt évet, és nemzette Seláchot.
13 And Arphaxad lived after he brings forth Salah four hundred and three years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Árpáchsod, miután Seláchot nemzette négyszázhárom évet és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
14 And Salah lived thirty years, and brings forth Eber:
Sélách pedig élt harminc évet, midőn nemzette Évert.
15 And Salah lived after he brings forth Eber four hundred and three years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Selách, miután Évert nemzette, négyszázhárom évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
16 And Eber lived four and thirty years, and brings forth Peleg:
Éver pedig élt harmincnégy évet, midőn nemzette Peleget.
17 And Eber lived after he brings forth Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Éver, miután Peleget nemzette, négyszázharminc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and brings forth Reu:
Peleg pedig élt harminc évet, midőn nemzette Reút.
19 And Peleg lived after he brings forth Reu two hundred and nine years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Peleg, miután Reút nemzette, kétszázkilenc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
20 And Reu lived two and thirty years, and brings forth Serug:
Reú pedig élt harminckét évet, midőn nemzette Szerúgot.
21 And Reu lived after he brings forth Serug two hundred and seven years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Reú, miután Szerúgot nemzette, kétszázhét évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
22 And Serug lived thirty years, and brings forth Nahor:
Szerúg pedig élt harminc évet és nemzette Nóchórt.
23 And Serug lived after he brings forth Nahor two hundred years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Szerúg, miután Nóchórt nemzette, kétszáz évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
24 And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and brings forth Terah:
Nóchór pedig élt huszonkilenc évet, midőn nemzette Teráchot.
25 And Nahor lived after he brings forth Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and brings forth sons and daughters.
És élt Nóchór, miután Teráchot nemzette, száztizenkilenc évet; és nemzett fiakat meg lányokat.
26 And Terah lived seventy years, and brings forth Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
Terách pedig élt hetven évet, midőn nemzette Ávromot, Nóchórt és Hóront.
27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah brings forth Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran brings forth Lot.
És ezek nemzetségei Teráchnak; Terách nemzette Ávromot, Nóchórt és Hóront. És Hóron nemzette Lótot.
28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
De Hóron meghalt Teráchnak, az ő atyjának színe előtt, szülőföldjén, Ur-Kászdimban.
29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
Ávrom pedig és Nóchór vettek maguknak feleséget: Ávrom feleségének neve: Szóráj és Nóchór feleségének neve Milkó, Hóron leánya, aki atyja volt Milkónak és atyja Jiszkónak.
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
Szóráj azonban magtalan volt, nem volt neki gyermeke.
31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
És vette Terách Ávromot, az ő fiát, és Lótot, Chóron fiát, az ő unokáját és Szórájt, az ő menyét, az ő fiának, Ávromnak feleségét és elmentek velük UrKászdimból, hogy menjenek Kánaán országába; elérkeztek Chóronig és letelepedtek ott.
32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
Voltak pedig Terách napjai kétszázöt év; és meghalt Terách Chóronban.
