Ecclesiastes 11
1 Cast your bread upon the waters: for you shall find it after many days.
Hãy rải bánh con trên mặt nước, rồi sau này, con sẽ thu lại.
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for you know not what evil shall be upon the earth.
Khi bố thí, nên phân phát rộng rãi cho nhiều người, vì biết đâu sẽ có ngày mình gặp tai nạn.
3 If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall be.
Khi mây ngưng đọng, nước mưa rơi xuống. Khi cây ngã về hướng bắc hay nam, nó sẽ nằm ngay nơi đã ngã.
4 He that observes the wind shall not sow; and he that regards the clouds shall not reap.
Ai lo xem gió sẽ không bao giờ gieo. Ai mãi ngắm mây sẽ không bao giờ gặt.
5 As you know not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so you know not the works of God who makes all.
Con không thể hiểu hướng bay của gió hay sự huyền nhiệm của bào thai lớn lên trong lòng mẹ, thì cũng vậy, con không thể hiểu được công việc của Đức Chúa Trời, Đấng sáng tạo muôn loài vạn vật.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening withhold not your hand: for you know not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
Con hãy đi gieo giống vào buổi sáng và tiếp tục công việc buổi chiều, vì con không biết hạt giống gieo buổi sáng hay buổi chiều sẽ mọc lên—hoặc có thể cả hai.
7 Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:
Ánh sáng thật ngọt ngào; thật vui thỏa khi được nhìn thấy một ngày mới!
8 But if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.
Nếu một người được sống lâu, cứ vui hưởng những ngày còn sống. Nhưng hãy nhớ sẽ có nhiều ngày đen tối, mọi việc xảy đến đều là vô nghĩa.
9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know you, that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
Hỡi các bạn trẻ, cứ vui trong tuổi thanh xuân! Hãy hân hoan trong từng giây phút. Hãy làm những gì lòng ao ước; và những gì mắt ưa thích. Nhưng phải nhớ rằng Đức Chúa Trời sẽ phán xét mọi việc các con làm.
10 Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.
Vậy đừng lo âu, và giữ thân thể con khỏe mạnh. Nên nhớ rằng tuổi trẻ và thời xuân xanh là vô nghĩa.
