< Deuteronomy 5 >
1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that all of you may learn them, and keep, and do them.
Musa nĩetire andũ a Isiraeli othe, akĩmeera atĩrĩ: Inyuĩ Aisiraeli, ta kĩiguei irĩra cia watho wa kũrũmĩrĩrwo, na mawatho marĩa ngũmwĩra ũmũthĩ mũkĩiguaga. Mũmeerute na mũtigĩrĩre nĩ mwamarũmĩrĩra.
2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
Jehova Ngai witũ nĩarĩĩkanĩire kĩrĩkanĩro na ithuĩ kũu Horebu.
3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Jehova ndarĩĩkanĩire kĩrĩkanĩro gĩkĩ na maithe maitũ oiki, no nĩarĩĩkanĩire na ithuĩ, ithuothe arĩa tũrĩ muoyo ũmũthĩ.
4 The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
Jehova aaranĩirie na inyuĩ ũthiũ kwa ũthiũ arĩ thĩinĩ wa mwaki kĩrĩma igũrũ.
5 (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for all of you were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount; ) saying,
(Hĩndĩ ĩyo niĩ ndarũgamĩte gatagatĩ kanyu na Jehova nĩguo ndĩmwĩre ũhoro wa Jehova, nĩ tondũ nĩmwetigagĩra mwaki ũcio, na mũtiigana kwambata kĩrĩma igũrũ.) Nake akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ:
6 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
“Nĩ niĩ Jehova Ngai waku, ũrĩa wakũrutire bũrũri wa Misiri, kuuma bũrũri wa ũkombo.
7 You shall have no other gods before me.
“Ndũkanagĩe na ngai ĩngĩ tiga niĩ.
8 You shall not make you any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
“Ndũkanethondekere mũhianano mũicũhie wa mũhianĩre wa kĩndũ o gĩothe kĩrĩ kũũrĩa igũrũ, kana gũkũ thĩ, kana kĩrĩ maaĩ-inĩ marĩa marĩ mũhuro wa thĩ.
9 You shall not bow down yourself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
Ndũkanacinamĩrĩre kana ũcihooe, nĩgũkorwo niĩ Jehova Ngai waku ndĩ Ngai ũrĩ ũiru, herithagia ciana nĩ ũndũ wa mehia ma maithe mao nginya rũciaro rwa gatatũ na rwa kana rwa andũ arĩa maathũire,
10 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
no nĩ ngonania wendo kũrĩ njiarwa ngiri na ngiri cia andũ arĩa manyendete na magaathĩkĩra maathani makwa.
11 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
“Ndũkanagwete rĩĩtwa rĩa Jehova Ngai waku na itherũ, nĩgũkorwo Jehova ndagatua atĩ mũndũ ndehĩtie ũrĩa ũgwetaga rĩĩtwa rĩake na itherũ.
12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD your God has commanded you.
“Menyagĩrĩra mũthenya wa Thabatũ ũwamũrage, o ta ũrĩa Jehova Ngai waku agwathĩte.
13 Six days you shall labour, and do all your work:
Rutaga wĩra waku wothe mĩthenya ĩtandatũ,
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.
no mũthenya wa mũgwanja nĩ Thabatũ ya Jehova Ngai waku. Mũthenya ũcio ndũkanarute wĩra o na ũrĩkũ, wee mwene, kana mũrũguo, kana mwarĩguo, kana ndungata yaku ya mũndũ mũrũme kana ya mũndũ-wa-nja, kana ndegwa yaku, kana ndigiri yaku kana nyamũ o na ĩrĩkũ yaku, kana mũgeni ũrĩ gwaku mũciĩ, nĩgeetha ndungata yaku ya mũndũ mũrũme o na ya mũndũ-wa-nja o nacio ihurũke o tawe.
15 And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.
Ririkanaga o nawe warĩ ngombo bũrũri wa Misiri, na atĩ nĩ Jehova Ngai waku wakũrutire kuo na njara ĩrĩ hinya na guoko kwa ũhoti gũtambũrũkĩtio. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehova Ngai waku agwathĩte ũmenyagĩrĩre mũthenya wa Thabatũ.
16 Honour your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
“Tĩĩa thoguo na nyũkwa o ta ũrĩa Jehova Ngai waku agwathĩte, nĩgeetha ũtũũre matukũ maingĩ, na maũndũ maku magĩrĩre bũrũri-inĩ ũrĩa Jehova Ngai waku egũkũhe.
18 Neither shall you commit adultery.
“Ndũkanatharanie.
19 Neither shall you steal.
“Ndũkanaiye.
20 Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbour.
“Ndũkanaigĩrĩre mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ kĩgeenyo.
21 Neither shall you desire your neighbour's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is your neighbour's.
“Ndũkanacumĩkĩre mũtumia wa mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ. Ndũkanerirĩrie nyũmba ya mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ kana gĩthaka gĩake, kana ndungata yake ya mũndũ mũrũme kana ya mũndũ-wa-nja, kana ndegwa yake kana ndigiri yake, kana kĩndũ o nakĩ kĩa mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ.”
22 These words the LORD spoke unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
Macio nĩmo maathani marĩa Jehova aarĩirie ũngano wanyu wothe na mũgambo mũnene kĩrĩma-inĩ kĩu arĩ thĩinĩ wa mwaki, o na itu-inĩ, o na nduma ndumanu; na ndoongereire ũndũ ũngĩ. Agĩcooka akĩmaandĩka ihengere-inĩ igĩrĩ cia mahiga, akĩĩnengera.
23 And it came to pass, when all of you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire, ) that all of you came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
Rĩrĩa mwaiguire mũgambo ũkiuma nduma-inĩ ĩyo, na kĩrĩma gĩgĩakanaga mwaki, athuuri na atongoria a mĩhĩrĩga yanyu yothe nĩmookire kũrĩ niĩ.
24 And all of you said, Behold, the LORD our God has showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives.
Mũkiuga atĩrĩ, “Jehova Ngai witũ nĩatuonetie riiri wake na ũnene wake, na nĩtũiguĩte mũgambo wake ũkiuma mwaki-inĩ. Ũmũthĩ nĩtwonete atĩ mũndũ no atũũre muoyo o na Ngai aarĩtie nake.
25 Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
No rĩrĩ, tũgũkua nĩkĩ? Mwaki ũyũ mũnene ũũ nĩ ũgũtũniina, na nĩtũgũkua tũngĩigua mũgambo wa Jehova Ngai witũ hĩndĩ ĩngĩ.
26 For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
Nĩ ũndũ-rĩ, nĩ mũndũ ũrĩkũ ũrĩ muoyo ũrĩ waigua mũgambo wa Ngai ũrĩa ũtũũraga muoyo akĩaria arĩ thĩinĩ wa mwaki ta ũrĩa ithuĩ tũiguĩte, na agatũũra muoyo?
27 Go you near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak you unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto you; and we will hear it, and do it.
Wee thiĩ ũkuhĩrĩrie, ũigue ũrĩa wothe Jehova Ngai witũ ekuuga. Ũcooke ũũke ũtwĩre ũrĩa wothe Jehova Ngai witũ egũkwĩra. Nĩtũkũigua na twathĩke.”
28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when all of you spoke unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto you: they have well said all that they have spoken.
Jehova nĩamũiguire rĩrĩa mwanjaragĩria, nake Jehova akĩnjĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩnjiguĩte ũrĩa andũ aya makwĩrĩte. Ũhoro ũcio wothe maarĩtie nĩ mwega.
29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Naarĩ korwo magĩa na ngoro ya gũtũma meĩndigagĩre na matũũre marũmĩtie maathani makwa hĩndĩ ciothe, nĩguo matũũre monaga maũndũ mega o ene o na ciana ciao nginya tene!
30 Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
“Thiĩ ũmeere macooke hema-inĩ ciao.
31 But as for you, stand you here by me, and I will speak unto you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
No wee-rĩ, ikara haha harĩ niĩ nĩgeetha ngũhe ũhoro wa maathani mothe, na irĩra cia watho wa kũrũmĩrĩrwo, na mawatho marĩa ũrĩmarutaga nĩguo mamarũmagĩrĩre marĩ bũrũri ũrĩa ngũmahe mawĩgwatĩre ũtuĩke wao.”
32 All of you shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: all of you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, mwĩmenyererei nĩguo mwĩkage ũrĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu amwathĩte; mũtikarore na mwena wa ũrĩo kana wa ũmotho.
33 All of you shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that all of you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that all of you may prolong your days in the land which all of you shall possess.
Thiiagai na mĩthiĩre ĩrĩa yothe Jehova Ngai wanyu amwathĩte, nĩguo mũtũũre muoyo na mũgaacĩre, na nĩguo mũtũme matukũ manyu maingĩhe ma gũtũũra bũrũri ũcio mũkegwatĩra.
