2 Samuel 16
1 And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
Et David s'était un peu avancé au delà du sommet, lorsque voilà que Tsiba, valet de Mephiboseth, arrive à sa rencontre avec une couple d'ânes sellés et chargés de deux cents pains et de cent gâteaux de raisins secs et de cent bols de figues et d'une outre de vin.
2 And the king said unto Ziba, What mean you by these? And Ziba said, The asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.
Et le Roi dit à Tsiba: Que veux-tu faire de cela? Et Tsiba dit: Les ânes serviront de montures à la maison du Roi, et le pain et les figues, d'aliments aux valets, et le vin, de breuvage, dans le désert, aux altérés.
3 And the king said, And where is your master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abides at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
Et le Roi dit: Et où est le fils de ton maître? Et Tsiba dit au Roi: il se tient à Jérusalem, car il s'est dit: Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël va me restituer le royaume de mon père.
4 Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, your are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly plead to you that I may find grace in your sight, my lord, O king.
Et le Roi dit à Tsiba: Voici, tout ce que possède Mephiboseth, est à toi. Et Tsiba dit: Je m'incline! Puissé-je trouver grâce à tes yeux, Seigneur Roi!
5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
Et le Roi David ayant atteint Bahurim, voilà que en sortit un homme issu de la souche de la maison de Saül; et il se nommait Siméï, fils de Géra; il s'avança et maudit
6 And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
et assaillit David à coups de pierres, tandis que tous les serviteurs du Roi David et toute la troupe et tous les braves étaient à sa droite et à sa gauche.
7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, you bloody man, and you man of Belial:
Et ainsi parlait Siméï en maudissant: Pars, pars, homme sanguinaire, homme de rien!
8 The LORD has returned upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose position you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son: and, behold, you are taken in your mischief, because you are a bloody man.
l'Éternel reverse sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül de qui tu as usurpé la souveraineté, et Il met la royauté dans la main d'Absalom, ton fils, et te voilà dans ton malheur, parce que tu es un homme sanguinaire.
9 Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray you, and take off his head.
Alors Abisaï, fils de Tseruïa, dit au Roi: Pourquoi faut-il que ce chien mort maudisse mon Seigneur le Roi? Laisse-moi donc aller lui détacher la tête!
10 And the king said, What have I to do with you, all of you sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore have you done so?
Mais le Roi dit: Quel rapport ai-je avec vous, fils de Tseruïa? il n'a qu'à maudire! car c'est l'Éternel qui lui a dit: Maudis David! Et qui osera dire: Pourquoi en agis-Tu ainsi?
11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came out of my bowels, seeks my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD has bidden him.
Et David dit à Abisaï et à tous ses serviteurs: Voilà que mon fils, qui est sorti de mes entrailles, attente à ma vie! A plus forte raison ce Benjaminite. Laissez-le et qu'il maudisse!
12 It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.
Car l'Éternel le lui a dit. Peut-être l'Éternel considérant ma misère, me dispensera-t-Il aujourd'hui le bien en retour de ses malédictions.
13 And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side opposite to him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
Et David et ses hommes continuèrent leur marche; mais Siméï suivit le flanc de la montagne en regard de lui, et en cheminant il maudissait et l'assaillait à coups de pierres et soulevait la poussière.
14 And the king, and all the people that were with him, came weary, and refreshed themselves there.
Et le Roi et toute la troupe qui l'accompagnait, atteignirent Hajephim (les Lassitudes) et là il reprit haleine.
15 And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
Or Absalom et toute la troupe des hommes d'Israël entrèrent dans Jérusalem, et Achitophel avec lui.
16 And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come unto Absalom, that Hushai said unto Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
Et lorsque Husaï d'Erech, ami de David, se présenta chez Absalom, Husaï dit à Absalom: Vive le Roi! Vive le Roi!
17 And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? why went you not with your friend?
Et Absalom dit à Husaï: Telle étant ton affection pour ton ami, pourquoi n'as-tu pas accompagné ton ami?
18 And Hushai said unto Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
Et Husaï dit à Absalom: Non, parce que c'est à celui qu'a choisi l'Éternel et ce peuple et tout Israël, que je veux être, et auprès de lui que je resterai.
19 And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in your father's presence, so will I be in your presence.
Et en second lieu au service de qui entrerai-je? n'est-ce pas à celui de son fils? De même que j'ai servi chez ton père, de même je servirai chez toi.
20 Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
Et Absalom dit à Achitophel: Avisez-vous de ce que nous avons à faire!
21 And Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Go in unto your father's concubines, which he has left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that you are abhorred of your father: then shall the hands of all that are with you be strong.
Et Achitophel dit à Absalom: Habite avec les concubines de ton père, laissées par lui pour garder la maison; et tout Israël comprendra que tu es en mauvaise odeur auprès de ton père, et tous les hommes de ton bord en auront les mains plus fortes.
22 So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
Alors on dressa pour Absalom le pavillon de David sur la terrasse, et Absalom habita avec les concubines de son père à la face de tout Israël.
23 And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
Or les conseils que donnait Achitophel à cette époque avaient autant de crédit que la parole de Dieu consultée; tel était le crédit de tout conseil d'Achitophel et auprès de David et auprès d'Absalom.
