1 Thessalonians 5
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, all of you have no need that I write unto you.
O časih pa in prilikah, bratje, ni treba da se vam piše;
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
Kajti sami veste na tanko, da dan Gospodov, kakor tat ponoči, tako pride;
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Ko namreč pravijo: Mir in varnost, tedaj jih mahoma doleti poguba, kakor porodne bolečine nosečo, in ušli ne bodo.
4 But all of you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Vi pa, bratje, niste v temi, da vas dan zagrabi kakor tat;
5 All of you are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Vi vsi ste luči sinovi in sinovi dneva; nismo od noči ali temé.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Torej ne spimo kakor tudi drugi, nego čujmo in trezni bodimo.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
Kajti speči spé ponoči, in upijanjajoči se upijanjajo se ponoči;
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; (agape) and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Mi pa, ki smo od dneva, bodimo trezni, ter oblecimo oklep vere in ljubezni, in za šlem upanje blaginje;
9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Kajti ni nas Bog pripravil za jezo, nego za zadobljenje blaginje po Gospodu našem Jezusu Kristusu,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Kateri je umrl za nas, da, naj čujemo ali spimo, z njem vred živimo.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also all of you do.
Zato opominjajte se med seboj in izpodbujajte drug druzega, kakor tudi delate.
12 And we plead to you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
Prosimo pa vas, bratje, da znate nje, ki se trudijo med vami, in so vam predpostavljeni v Gospodu in vas svaré,
13 And to esteem them very highly in love (agape) for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
In da jih visoko čislate v ljubezni za njih delo. Mirujte med seboj.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
Opominjamo pa vas, bratje, svarite neredne, prigovarjajte malodušnim, skrbite za slabotne, potrpežljivi boditi z vsemi.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Glejte, da ne vrne kdo komu hudega za hudo, nego vedno za dobrim hodite med seboj in proti vsem.
16 Rejoice evermore.
Radujte se vedno!
17 Pray without ceasing.
Molite neprestano!
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Hvaležni bodite v vsem; kajti to je volja Božja v Kristusu Jezusu za vas.
19 Quench not the Spirit. (pneuma)
Duha ne gasite.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
Prerokovanj ne zaničujte.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Poskusite vse, dobro ohranite.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Vsakoršnega hudega se zdržujte.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit (pneuma) and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
On pa, Bog mirú, posvéti vas cele, in duh vaš popoln, in duša in telo naj se ohrani brez krivice o prihodu Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa.
24 Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.
Zvest je, ki vaš kliče, kateri bode tudi storil.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
Bratje, molite za nas.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
Pozdravite brate vse v svetem poljubu.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
Rotim vas pri Gospodu, da se naj list bere vsem svetim bratom.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Milost Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa z vami! Amen. Tesaloničanom list prvi pisan iz Atén.
