< 1 Samuel 15 >

1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken you unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
Saul te Samuel loh, “Nang he A pilnam Israel soah manghai la koelh ham BOEIPA loh kai n'tueih coeng. Te dongah BOEIPA kah olthui ol he tahae ah hnatun laeh.
2 Thus says the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
Caempuei BOEIPA loh, “Israel Egypt lamkaha caeh uh vaengah Amalek loh longpueng aha mah tih a saii te ka cawh ni.
3 Now go and strike Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and nursing infant, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Te dongah tongpa lamloh huta khaw, camoe lamloh cahni hil khaw, vaito lamloh tu hil khaw, kalauk lamloh laak hil khaw ngawn,’ a ti,” a ti nah.
4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
Te dongah pilnam te Saul loh a yaak sak tih amih te rhalkap thawng yahnih neh Judah hlang thawng rha la Telaim aha soep.
5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
Saul tah Amalek khopuei la cet tih, soklong aha rhongngol thil.
6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for all of you showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
Te vaengah Keni te Saul loh, “Amalek lakli lamloh cet laeh, nong laeh, suntla laeh, nang te amih neh hmaih kam phae ve. Nang long tah Egypt lamkah aka pawk Israel ca boeih taengah sitlohnah na saii pah,” a ti nah. Te dongah Keni te Amalek lakli lamloh nong.
7 And Saul stroke the Amalekites from Havilah until you come to Shur, that is opposite to Egypt.
Te phoeiah Havilah lamkah Egypt imdan Shur la aka pha Amalek te Saul loh a tloek.
8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
Te vaengah Amalek manghai Agag tea hing la a tuuk tih pilnam boeih te cunghang ha neha thup.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
Tedae Saul neh pilnam loh Agag khaw, boiva neh saelhung then khaw, a toitup neh tuca khaw, a then boeih tah a hnaih tih amih te thup ham huem pawh. Te dongah hnopai boeih khuiah a hnawtkhoe neh a morhoe bueng te a thup.
10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,
Te vaengah BOEIPA ol loh Samuel taengla thoeng tih,
11 It repents me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.
“Saul manghai la ka manghai sak he damti coeng. Kai taeng lamloh hnukpoh tih ka ola thoh puei moenih,” a ti nah. Samuel taengaha sai dongah khoyin puet BOEIPA taengah pang.
12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be you of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
14 And Samuel said, What means then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
Tedae Samuel loh, “Ka hna dongkah tu ol he ta? Saelhung kah a ol khaw ka yaak,” a ti nah.
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
Te vaengah Saul loh, “Amalek taeng lamkah boiva then neh saelhung te pilnam loh a hnaih dongah BOEIPA na Pathen taengah nawn hamla hang khuen uh, tiha hoeikhang te tah ka thup uh,” a ti nah.
16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell you what the LORD has said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
Tedae Samuel loh Saul te, “Duem lamtah khoyin ah BOEIPA loh kai taengah a thui te nang taengah kan thui eh?,” a ti nah hatah, “Thui lah,” a ti nah.
17 And Samuel said, When you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed you king over Israel?
Samuel loh, “Na mikhmuh ah na noe cakhaw, nang he Israel koca kah a lu neh Israel manghai la BOEIPA loh nang ng'koelh moenih a?
18 And the LORD sent you on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
Nang he longpuei la BOEIPA loh n'tueih vaengah, “Cet lamtah Amalek hlangtholh rhoek te thup laeh, amih te boeih a thok duela vathoh thil,” a ti.
19 Wherefore then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but did fly upon the spoil, and did evil in the sight of the LORD?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
Samuel taengah Saul loh, “BOEIPA ol te ka hnatun tih BOEIPA loh kai n'tueih vanbangla, longpuei ah ka cet. Te dongah Amalek manghai Agag te kang khuen tih Amalek te ka thup.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God in Gilgal.
Tedae kutbuem khui lamloh boiva neh saelhung then tah Gilgal kah na Pathen BOEIPA taengah nawn hamla pilnam loh yaehtaboeih la a loh,” a ti nah.
22 And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Te dongah Samuel loh, “Hmueihhlutnah he BOEIPA ol hnatun bangla hmueihhlutnah neh hmueih dongah BOEIPA te hmae a? Olngai he hmueih lakah, hnatung ham he tutal kah a tha lakah then ngai.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.
24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and your words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
25 Now therefore, I pray you, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD.
Tedae tahae ah ka tholh he ng'rhen mai laeh. Kai taengah ha bal mai lamtah BOEIPA taengah tho ka thueng mai eh,” a ti nah.
26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with you: for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel.
27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
Samuel te caeh hama hooi uh vaengah a hnikul hmoi tea doek pah tiha phen pah.
28 And Samuel said unto him, The LORD has rent the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbour of yours, that is better than you.
Te vaengah anih te Samuel loh, “Israel ram he tihnin ah BOEIPA loh nang taeng lamkaha phen tih nang lakah aka then na hui taenglaa paek coeng.
29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
Israel kah yoeyah Pathen he rhi a lat moenih. A hal ham khaw anih tah hlang mailai pawt dongaha hal moenih,” a ti nah.
30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD your God.
Saul loh, “Ka tholh dae ka pilnam kah a hamca rhoek hmai neh Israel hmai ah kai he n'thangpom mai lamtah kai taengla ha mael mai. BOEIPA na Pathen te ka bawk tangloeng pawn eh,” a ti nah.
31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
Te dongah Samuel te Saul hnukla bal tih Saul loh BOEIPA tea bawk.
32 Then said Samuel, Bring all of you here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
Te vaengah Samuel loh, “Amalek manghai Agag te kai taengla han khuen,” a ti nah. Te dongah Agag te anih taengah phatphat cet. Te vaengah Agag loh, “Dueknah khahing he khum taktak coeng,” a ti.
33 And Samuel said, As the sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
Samuel loh, “Na cunghang loh huta rhoek a cakol sak vanbangla na nu kah tanu te cakol la om van saeh,” a ti nah tih Gilgal kah BOEIPA mikhmuh ah Samuel loh Agag te a petpet a sah.
34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
Samuel te Ramah la cet tih Saul te Gibeah kah amah im la cet.
35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
Te lamkah longtah Saul sawt ham te Samuel loh a dueknah hnin duela thoelh voel pawh. Tedae Saul ham te Samuel nguekcoi tih Israel soah Saula manghai sak te BOEIPA khaw damti coeng.
