1 Samuel 15
1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint you to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken you unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
১আর শমূয়েল শৌলকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু তাঁর লোকদের উপরে, ইস্রায়েলীয়দের উপরে তোমাকে রাজপদে অভিষেক করবার জন্য আমাকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন; তাই এখন তুমি সদাপ্রভুর কথায় কান দাও।
2 Thus says the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
২বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি অমালেক যা করেছিল, মিশর থেকে আসবার দিনের সে পথের মধ্য তার বিরুদ্ধে যে ঘাঁটি বসিয়েছিল, আমি তা লক্ষ্য করেছি।
3 Now go and strike Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and nursing infant, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
৩এখন তুমি গিয়ে অমালেকীয়দের আক্রমণ কর ও তাদের যা কিছু আছে, সব সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করে ফেলবে; তাদের প্রতি দয়া করবে না; তাদের স্ত্রী পুরুষ, ছেলে মেয়ে, দুধ খাওয়া শিশু, গরু, ভেড়া, উট, গাধা সব মেরে ফেলবে’।”
4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
৪পরে শৌল লোকদের টলায়ীমে ডেকে গুনলেন; তাতে ইস্রায়েলের পদাতিক সৈন্যের সংখ্যা হল দুই লক্ষ এবং যিহূদা-গোষ্ঠীর সৈন্যের সংখ্যা হল দশ হাজার।
5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
৫শৌল অমালেকীয়দের শহরের কাছে গিয়ে সেখানকার উপত্যকার মধ্যে লুকিয়ে থাকলেন।
6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for all of you showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
৬আর শৌল কেনীয়দের বললেন, যাও, চলে যাও, অমালেকীয়দের মধ্য থেকে অন্য কোথাও চলে যাও, যাতে অমালেকীয়দের সঙ্গে আমি তোমাদেরও ধ্বংস করে না ফেলি; “যখন মিশর থেকে ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা বের হয়ে এসেছিল, তখন তোমরা তাদের প্রতি দয়া দেখিয়েছিলে।” তখন কেনীয়েরা অমালেকীয়দের মধ্য থেকে চলে গেল।
7 And Saul stroke the Amalekites from Havilah until you come to Shur, that is opposite to Egypt.
৭পরে শৌল হবীলা এলাকা থেকে মিশরের পূর্ব দিকে শূর মরু-এলাকা পর্যন্ত সমস্ত অমালেকীয়দের আঘাত করলেন।
8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
৮তিনি অমালেকীয়দের রাজা অগাগকে জীবিত অবস্থায় ধরলেন এবং সমস্ত লোকদের সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করলেন।
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
৯কিন্তু শৌল ও তাঁর সৈন্যেরা অগাগকে বাঁচিয়ে রাখলেন এবং অমালেকীয়দের ভাল ভাল গরু, ভেড়া, মোটাসোটা বাছুর এবং ভেড়ার বাচ্চাগুলির প্রতি ও সমস্ত ভালো জিনিসের উপর দয়া করলেন, সেগুলোকে সম্পূর্ণভাবে ধ্বংস করে দিতে চাইলেন না, কিন্তু যেগুলো অকেজো এবং রোগা, সেগুলিকেই একেবারে শেষ করলেন।
10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,
১০তখন শমূয়েলের কাছে সদাপ্রভুর এই বাক্য উপস্থিত হল,
11 It repents me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and has not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.
১১“আমি শৌলকে রাজা করেছি বলে আমার দুঃখ হচ্ছে, কারণ সে আমার কাছ থেকে সরে গেছে এবং আমার বাক্য পালন করে নি।” তখন শমূয়েল রেগে গেলেন এবং গোটা রাত তিনি সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কাঁদলেন।
12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
১২পরদিন ভোরে উঠে শমূয়েল শৌলের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন, সেখানে তাঁকে বলা হল যে, শৌল কর্মিল পাহাড়ে গিয়ে নিজের সম্মানের জন্য সেখানে একটা স্তম্ভ তৈরী করবার পর গিল্গলে চলে গেছেন।
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be you of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.
১৩আর শমূয়েল শৌলের কাছে এলে, শৌল তাঁকে বললেন, “আপনি সদাপ্রভুর আশীর্বাদের পাত্র; আমি সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ পালন করেছি।”
14 And Samuel said, What means then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
১৪শমূয়েল বললেন, “তবে ভেড়ার ডাক আমার কানে আসছে কেন? গরুর ডাকই বা আমি শুনতে পাচ্ছি কেন?”
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
১৫শৌল বললেন, “আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে বলিদান করবার জন্য লোকেরা ভাল ভাল ভেড়া ও গরুর প্রতি দয়া করেছে; কিন্তু আমরা বাকি সব লোকদের একেবারে শেষ করে দিয়েছি।”
16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell you what the LORD has said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
১৬শমূয়েল তখন শৌলকে বললেন, “চুপ কর, গত রাতে সদাপ্রভু আমাকে যা বলেছেন তা আমি তোমাকে বলি।” শৌল বললেন, “বলুন।”
17 And Samuel said, When you were little in your own sight, were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed you king over Israel?
১৭শমূয়েল বললেন, “যদিও তুমি নিজের চোখে খুবই সামান্য ছিলে, তবুও তোমাকে কি ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সমস্ত বংশের মাথা করা হয়নি? সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে ইস্রায়েল দেশের উপরে রাজপদে অভিষেক করেছেন।
18 And the LORD sent you on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
১৮পরে সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে তোমার রাস্তায় পাঠিয়েছিলেন, বলেছিলেন, ‘যাও, সেই পাপীদের অর্থাৎ অমালেকীয়দের একেবারে ধ্বংস করবে। এবং যে পর্যন্ত না তারা ধ্বংস হয়, ততক্ষণ তাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করবে।’
19 Wherefore then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but did fly upon the spoil, and did evil in the sight of the LORD?
১৯তবে তুমি সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ পালন না করে কেন লুটের উপর পড়ে সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা খারাপ তাই করলে?”
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
২০শৌল শমূয়েলকে বললেন, “আমি তো সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ পালন করেছি, যে পথে সদাপ্রভু আমাকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন আমি সেই পথে গিয়েছি, আমি অমালেকীয়দের রাজা অগাগকে ধরেছি ও অমালেকীয়দের একেবারে শেষ করে দিয়েছি।
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD your God in Gilgal.
২১কিন্তু গিল্গলে আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে বলিদান করার জন্য লোকেরা রাখা জিনিস থেকে কতগুলো ভাল ভাল ভেড়া ও গরু এনেছে।”
22 And Samuel said, Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
২২শমূয়েল বললেন, “সদাপ্রভুর কথা শুনলে তিনি যত খুশী হন, তেমনকি হোমে ও বলিদানে কি সদাপ্রভু তত খুশী হন? দেখ, বলিদানের থেকে আদেশ পালন করা ভাল এবং ভেড়ার চর্বির থেকে কথা শোনা অনেক ভাল।
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king.
২৩কারণ আদেশ অগ্রাহ্য করা আর মন্ত্রপাঠ করা একই পাপ এবং অবাধ্যতা, প্রতিমাপূজা ও অধার্মিকতার সমান। তুমি সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ অগ্রাহ্য করেছ, তাই তিনিও তোমাকে রাজা হিসাবে অগ্রাহ্য করেছেন।”
24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and your words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
২৪শৌল তখন শমূয়েলকে বললেন, “আমি পাপ করেছি; সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ আর আপনার নির্দেশ আমি সত্যিই অমান্য করেছি, কারণ আমি লোকদের ভয়ে তাদের কথামতই কাজ করেছি।
25 Now therefore, I pray you, pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD.
২৫এখন অনুরোধ করি আমার পাপ ক্ষমা করে দিন, আর আমার সঙ্গে চলুন, আমি সদাপ্রভুর উপাসনা করব।”
26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with you: for you have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you from being king over Israel.
২৬শমূয়েল শৌলকে বললেন, “আমি তোমার সঙ্গে ফিরে যাব না; কারণ তুমি সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ অগ্রাহ্য করেছ, আর তাই সদাপ্রভুও তোমাকে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের রাজা হিসাবে অগ্রাহ্য করেছেন।”
27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
২৭এই বলে শমূয়েল চলে যাবার জন্য ঘুরে দাঁড়াতেই, শৌল তাঁর কাপড়ের একটা অংশ টেনে ধরলেন; তাতে তা ছিঁড়ে গেল।
28 And Samuel said unto him, The LORD has rent the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to a neighbour of yours, that is better than you.
২৮তখন শমূয়েল তাঁকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু আজ তোমার কাছ থেকে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের রাজ্য টেনে ছিঁড়লেন এবং তোমার চেয়ে ভাল তোমার এক প্রতিবেশীকে তা দিলেন।
29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
২৯আবার ইস্রায়েলের বিশ্বাসভূমি মিথ্যা কথা বলেন না ও অনুশোচনা করেন না; কারণ তিনি মানুষ নন যে, অনুশোচনা করবেন।”
30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray you, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and return with me, that I may worship the LORD your God.
৩০তখন শৌল বললেন, “আমি পাপ করেছি; তবুও অনুরোধ করি, এখন আমার জাতির প্রাচীন নেতাদের ও ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সামনে আমার সম্মান রাখুন, আমার সঙ্গে চলুন; আমি আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর উপাসনা করব।”
31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.
৩১তাতে শমূয়েল শৌলের সঙ্গে গেলেন আর শৌল সদাপ্রভুর উপাসনা করলেন।
32 Then said Samuel, Bring all of you here to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
৩২পরে শমূয়েল বললেন, “তোমরা অমালেকীয়দের রাজা অগাগকে আমার কাছে নিয়ে এস।” তাতে অগাগ আনন্দ মনে শমূয়েলের কাছে আসলেন, তিনি ভাবলেন মৃত্যুর যন্ত্রণা এখন আর নেই।
33 And Samuel said, As the sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.
৩৩কিন্তু শমূয়েল বললেন, “তোমার তলোয়ারে যেমন অনেক স্ত্রীলোক সন্তানহারা হয়েছে, তেমনি সেই সব স্ত্রীলোকদের মধ্যে তোমার মাও সন্তানহারা হবে।” তখন শমূয়েল গিল্গলে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে অগাগকে টুকরো টুকরো করে কেটে ফেললেন।
34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
৩৪তারপর শমূয়েল রামায় চলে গেলেন আর শৌল শৌলের গিবিয়ায় তাঁর নিজের বাড়িতে গেলেন।
35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
৩৫শমূয়েল যতদিন বেঁচে ছিলেন ততদিন তিনি শৌলের সঙ্গে আর দেখা করলেন না। শমূয়েল শৌলের জন্য দুঃখ করতেন। আর সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলীয়দের উপর শৌলকে রাজা করেছিলেন বলে অনুশোচনা করলেন।
