1 Kings 8

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

পরে রাজা শলোমন জেরুশালেমে তাঁর কাছে দাউদ-নগর, অর্থাৎ সিয়োন থেকে সদাপ্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুকটি নিয়ে আসার জন্য ইস্রায়েলের প্রাচীনদের, সমস্ত গোষ্ঠীপতিকে ও ইস্রায়েলী পরিবারের প্রধানদের ডেকে পাঠালেন।

2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

ইস্রায়েলীরা সবাই বছরের সপ্তম মাস, এথানীম মাসে উৎসবের সময় রাজা শলোমনের কাছে একত্রিত হল।

3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

ইস্রায়েলের প্রাচীনেরা সবাই পৌঁছে যাওয়ার পর যাজকেরা সিন্দুকটি উঠিয়েছিলেন,

4 And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.

এবং তারা সদাপ্রভুর সেই সিন্দুকটি ও সমাগম তাঁবুটি এবং সেখানকার সব পবিত্র আসবাবপত্রাদি নিয়ে এলেন। যাজকেরা ও লেবীয়রা সেগুলি বহন করে এনেছিলেন,

5 And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.

আর রাজা শলোমন ও তাঁর কাছে একত্রিত হওয়া ইস্রায়েলের সমগ্র জনসমাজ সিন্দুকটির সামনে উপস্থিত হয়ে এত মেষ ও গবাদি পশুবলি দিলেন, যে সেগুলি নথিভুক্ত করে বা গুনে রাখা সম্ভব হয়নি।

6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.

যাজকেরা পরে সদাপ্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুকটি মন্দিরের ভিতরদিকের পীঠস্থানে, অর্থাৎ মহাপবিত্র স্থানে সেটির জন্য ঠিক করে রাখা স্থানে নিয়ে এলেন, এবং দুটি করূবের ডানার নিচে রেখে দিলেন।

7 For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

করূব দুটি সেই সিন্দুক রাখার স্থানের উপর তাদের ডানা মেলে ধরেছিল এবং সেই সিন্দুক ও সেটির হাতলগুলি আড়াল করে রেখেছিল।

8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.

সেই হাতলগুলি এত লম্বা ছিল যে বের হয়ে আসা হাতলের শেষপ্রান্তগুলি ভিতরদিকের পীঠস্থানের সামনে থেকে দেখা যেত, কিন্তু পবিত্রস্থানের বাইরে থেকে দেখা যেত না; আর সেগুলি আজও সেখানেই আছে।

9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

সেই সিন্দুকে পাথরের সেই দুটি পাথরের ফলক ছাড়া আর কিছুই ছিল না, যেগুলি ইস্রায়েলীরা মিশর দেশ থেকে বের হয়ে আসার পর সদাপ্রভু তাদের সাথে যেখানে এক নিয়ম স্থাপন করলেন, সেই হোরেবে মোশি সিন্দুকে ভরে রেখেছিলেন।

10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

যাজকেরা পবিত্রস্থান থেকে সরে যাওয়ার পর সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরটি মেঘে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে গেল।

11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

এবং সেই মেঘের কারণে যাজকেরা তাদের পরিচর্যা করে উঠতে পারেননি, যেহেতু সদাপ্রভুর প্রতাপে তাঁর মন্দিরটি পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে উঠেছিল।

12 Then spoke Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

তখন শলোমন বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু বলেছেন যে তিনি ঘন মেঘের মাঝে বসবাস করবেন;

13 I have surely built you an house to dwell in, a settled place for you to abide in for ever.

বাস্তবিকই আমি তোমার জন্য এক দর্শনীয় মন্দির তৈরি করেছি, সেটি এমন এক স্থান, যেখানে তুমি চিরকাল বসবাস করবে।”

14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood; )

ইস্রায়েলের সমগ্র জনসমাজ যখন সেখানে দাঁড়িয়েছিল, রাজামশাই তখন তাদের দিকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে তাদের আশীর্বাদ করলেন।

15 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spoke with his mouth unto David my father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

পরে তিনি বললেন: “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সেই সদাপ্রভুর গৌরব হোক, যিনি নিজের হাতে তাঁর সেই প্রতিজ্ঞাটি পূরণ করেছেন, যেটি তিনি নিজের মুখে আমার বাবা দাউদের কাছে করলেন। কারণ তিনি বললেন,

16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

‘যেদিন আমি আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলকে মিশর থেকে বের করে এনেছিলাম, সেদিন থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত আমার নামের উদ্দেশে মন্দির নির্মাণের জন্য আমি ইস্রায়েলের গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত কোনও নগর মনোনীত করিনি, কিন্তু আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলকে শাসন করার জন্য আমি দাউদকে মনোনীত করেছিলাম।’

17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

“ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নামে একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করার বাসনা আমার বাবা দাউদের অন্তরে ছিল।

18 And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in your heart to build an house unto my name, you did well that it was in your heart.

কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু আমার বাবা দাউদকে বললেন, ‘আমার নামে একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করার কথা ভেবে তুমি ভালোই করেছ।

19 Nevertheless you shall not build the house; but your son that shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house unto my name.

তবে, তুমি সেই মন্দির নির্মাণ করবে না, কিন্তু তোমার সেই ছেলে, যে তোমারই রক্তমাংস—সেই আমার নামে একটি মন্দির নির্মাণ করবে।’

20 And the LORD has performed his word that he spoke, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

“সদাপ্রভু তাঁর করা প্রতিজ্ঞাটি পূরণ করেছেন: আমি আমার বাবা দাউদের স্থলাভিষিক্ত হয়েছি এবং সদাপ্রভুর প্রতিজ্ঞানুসারে এখন আমি ইস্রায়েলের সিংহাসনে বসেছি, এবং ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নামের উদ্দেশে আমি মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেছি।

21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

আমি সেখানে সেই সিন্দুকটির জন্য স্থান করে রেখেছি, যেখানে সদাপ্রভুর সেই নিয়মটি রাখা আছে, যা তিনি মিশর থেকে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের বের করে আনার সময় তাদের সঙ্গে স্থাপন করলেন।”

22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:

পরে শলোমন ইস্রায়েলের সমগ্র জনসমাজের সামনে সদাপ্রভুর উপস্থিতিতে উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে স্বর্গের দিকে তাঁর দু-হাত মেলে ধরলেন

23 And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keep covenant and mercy with your servants that walk before you with all their heart:

এবং বললেন: “হে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, উপরে স্বর্গে বা নিচে পৃথিবীতে তোমার মতো আর কোনও ঈশ্বর নেই—যারা সর্বান্তঃকরণে তোমার পথে চলতে থাকে, তোমার সেইসব দাসের প্রতি তুমি তোমার প্রেমের নিয়ম পালন করে থাকো।

24 Who have kept with your servant David my father that you promised him: you spoke also with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day.

আমার বাবা, তথা তোমার দাস দাউদের কাছে করা প্রতিজ্ঞাটি তুমি পূরণ করেছ; নিজের মুখেই তুমি সেই প্রতিজ্ঞাটি করলে এবং নিজের হাতেই তুমি তা রক্ষাও করেছ—যেমনটি কি না আজ দেখা যাচ্ছে।

25 Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that you promised him, saying, There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that your children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as you have walked before me.

“এখন হে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, তোমার দাস ও আমার বাবা দাউদের কাছে তোমার করা সেই প্রতিজ্ঞাটি পূরণ করো। যে প্রতিজ্ঞায় তুমি বললে, ‘শুধু যদি তোমার বংশধরেরা আমার সামনে চলার জন্য একটু সতর্ক হয়ে তোমার মতো বিশ্বস্ততাপূর্বক সবকিছু করে, তবে আমার সামনে ইস্রায়েলের সিংহাসনে বসার জন্য তোমার কোনও উত্তরাধিকারীর অভাব হবে না।’

26 And now, O God of Israel, let your word, I pray you, be verified, which you spoke unto your servant David my father.

আর এখন, হে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, আমার বাবা তোমার দাস দাউদের কাছে তুমি যে প্রতিজ্ঞা করলে, তা যেন সত্যি হয়।

27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built?

“কিন্তু ঈশ্বর কি সত্যিই পৃথিবীতে বসবাস করবেন? স্বর্গ, এমন কী সর্বোচ্চ স্বর্গও তোমাকে ধারণ করতে পারে না। তবে আমার নির্মাণ করা এই মন্দিরই বা কীভাবে করবে!

28 Yet have you respect unto the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which your servant prays before you to day:

তবুও হে আমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, তোমার দাসের প্রার্থনায় ও দয়া লাভের জন্য তার করা আজকের দিনে এই অনুরোধের প্রতি মনোযোগ দাও। তোমার উপস্থিতিতে তোমার এই দাস যে ক্রন্দন ও প্রার্থনা করছে, তা তুমি শোনো।

29 That your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, My name shall be there: that you may hearken unto the prayer which your servant shall make toward this place.

এই মন্দিরের প্রতি যেন দিনরাত তোমার চোখ খোলা থাকে, যেখানকার বিষয়ে তুমি বললে, ‘আমার নাম সেখানে বজায় থাকবে,’ যেন এই স্থানটির দিকে চেয়ে তোমার দাস যে প্রার্থনা করবে তা তুমি শুনতে পাও।

30 And hearken you to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear you in heaven your dwelling place: and when you hear, forgive.

তোমার এই দাস ও তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েল যখন এই স্থানটির দিকে তাকিয়ে প্রার্থনা করবে তখন তুমি তাদের মিনতি শুনো। স্বর্গ থেকে, তোমার সেই বাসস্থান থেকে তুমি তা শুনো; এবং শুনে তাদের ক্ষমাও কোরো।

31 If any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before your altar in this house:

“যখন কেউ তার প্রতিবেশীর প্রতি কোনও অন্যায় করবে ও তাকে শপথ করতে বলা হবে এবং সে এই মন্দিরে রাখা তোমার এই যজ্ঞবেদির সামনে এসে শপথ করবে,

32 Then hear you in heaven, and do, and judge your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

তখন তুমি স্বর্গ থেকে তা শুনে সেইমতোই কাজ কোরো। তোমার দাসদের বিচার কোরো, দোষীকে শাস্তি দিয়ো ও তার কৃতকর্মের ফল তার মাথায় চাপিয়ে দিয়ো, এবং নিরপরাধের পক্ষসমর্থন করে, তার নিষ্কলুষতা অনুসারে তার প্রতি আচরণ কোরো।

33 When your people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall return to you, and confess your name, and pray, and make supplication unto you in this house:

“যখন তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েল তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করার কারণে শত্রুর কাছে পরাজিত হয়ে আবার তোমার কাছে ফিরে এসে তোমার নামের গৌরব করবে, ও এই মন্দিরে তোমার কাছে প্রার্থনা ও মিনতি করবে,

34 Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which you gave unto their fathers.

তখন স্বর্গ থেকে তুমি তা শুনো ও তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের পাপ ক্ষমা কোরো এবং তাদের সেই দেশে ফিরিয়ে এনো, যেটি তুমি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের দিয়েছিলে।

35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflict them:

“তোমার প্রজারা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করার কারণে যখন আকাশের দ্বার রুদ্ধ হয়ে যাবে ও বৃষ্টি হবে না, আর যখন তারা এই স্থানটির দিকে তাকিয়ে প্রার্থনা করবে ও তোমার নামের প্রশংসা করবে এবং তুমি যেহেতু তাদের কষ্ট দিয়েছ, তাই তারা তাদের পাপপথ থেকে ফিরে আসবে,

36 Then hear you in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, and of your people Israel, that you teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

তখন স্বর্গ থেকে তুমি তা শুনো ও তোমার দাসদের, তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের পাপ ক্ষমা কোরো। সঠিক জীবনযাপনের পথ তুমি তাদের শিক্ষা দিয়ো, এবং যে দেশটি তুমি তোমার প্রজাদের এক উত্তরাধিকাররূপে দিয়েছ, সেই দেশে তুমি বৃষ্টি পাঠিয়ো।

37 If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;

“যখন দেশে দুর্ভিক্ষ বা মহামারি দেখা দেবে, অথবা ফসল ক্ষেতে মড়ক লাগবে বা ছাতারোগ লাগবে, পঙ্গপাল বা ফড়িং হানা দেবে, অথবা শত্রুরা তাদের যে কোনো নগরে তাদের যখন অবরুদ্ধ করে রাখবে, যখন এরকম কোনও বিপত্তি বা রোগজ্বালার প্রকোপ পড়বে,

38 What prayer and supplication whatsoever be made by any man, or by all your people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে কেউ যদি প্রার্থনা বা মিনতি উৎসর্গ করে—তাদের নিজেদের অন্তরের দুর্দশা অনুভব করে এই মন্দিরের দিকে হাত বাড়িয়ে দেয়—

39 Then hear you in heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart you know; (for you, even you only, know the hearts of all the children of men; )

তবে তখন তুমি স্বর্গ থেকে, তোমার বাসস্থান থেকে তা শুনো। তাদের ক্ষমা কোরো, ও প্রত্যেকের সাথে তাদের কৃতকর্মানুসারে আচরণ কোরো, যেহেতু তুমি তো তাদের অন্তর জানো (কারণ একমাত্র তুমিই প্রত্যেক মানুষের হৃদয়ের খবর রাখো),

40 That they may fear you all the days that they live in the land which you gave unto our fathers.

যে দেশটি তুমি আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের দিয়েছিলে, সেখানে যতদিন তারা বেঁচে থাকবে, যেন তোমাকে ভয় করে চলতে পারে।

41 Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of your people Israel, but comes out of a far country for your name's sake;

“যে তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের অন্তর্ভুক্ত নয়, এমন কোনও বিদেশি

42 (For they shall hear of your great name, and of your strong hand, and of your stretched out arm; ) when he shall come and pray toward this house;

তোমার মহানামের ও তোমার পরাক্রমী হাতের এবং তোমার প্রসারিত বাহুর কথা শুনে যখন দূরদেশ থেকে আসবে—তারা যখন এসে এই মন্দিরের দিকে তাকিয়ে প্রার্থনা করবে,

43 Hear you in heaven your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for: that all people of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have built, is called by your name.

তখন তুমি স্বর্গ থেকে, তোমার সেই বাসস্থান থেকে তা শুনো। সেই বিদেশি তোমার কাছে যা চাইবে, তা তাকে দিয়ো, যেন পৃথিবীর সব মানুষজন তোমার নাম জানতে পারে ও তোমাকে ভয় করে, ঠিক যেভাবে তোমার নিজস্ব প্রজা ইস্রায়েল করে এসেছে, এবং তারা যেন এও জানতে পারে যে এই যে ভবনটি আমি তৈরি করেছি, তা তোমার নাম বহন করে চলেছে।

44 If your people go out to battle against their enemy, anywhere you shall send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house that I have built for your name:

“তোমার প্রজারা যখন তাদের শত্রুদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধযাত্রা করবে, তুমি তাদের যেখানেই পাঠাও না কেন, ও এই যে নগর ও মন্দিরটি আমি তোমার নামের উদ্দেশে নির্মাণ করেছি, সেদিকে চেয়ে তারা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করবে,

45 Then hear you in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

তখন তুমি স্বর্গ থেকে তাদের প্রার্থনা ও মিনতি শুনো, এবং তাদের পক্ষসমর্থন কোরো।

46 If they sin against you, (for there is no man that sins not, ) and you be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

“তারা যখন তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করবে—কারণ এমন কেউ নেই যে পাপ করে না—আর তুমি তাদের প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ হবে ও তাদেরকে তাদের সেই শত্রুদের হাতে তুলে দেবে, যারা তাদের নিজেদের দেশে বন্দি করে নিয়ে যাবে, তা সে বহুদূরে অথবা কাছেও হতে পারে;

47 Yet if they shall call to reflect themselves in the land where they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto you in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

এবং সেই দেশে বন্দি জীবন কাটাতে কাটাতে যদি তাদের মন পরিবর্তন হয়, ও তারা অনুতাপ করে ও তাদের সেই বন্দিদশার দেশে থাকতে থাকতেই যদি তারা তোমাকে অনুরোধ জানিয়ে বলে, ‘আমরা পাপ করেছি, আমরা অন্যায় করেছি, দুষ্টতামূলক আচরণ করেছি’;

48 And so return unto you with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto you toward their land, which you gave unto their fathers, the city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name:

এবং তাদের যে শত্রুরা তাদের বন্দি করল, তাদের সেই দেশে যদি তারা তাদের সব মনপ্রাণ ঢেলে দিয়ে তোমার কাছে ফিরে আসে ও তুমি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের যে দেশটি দিয়েছিলে, সেই দেশের ও তুমি যে নগরটি মনোনীত করলে, সেই নগরটির তথা আমি তোমার নামের উদ্দেশে যে মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করেছি তার দিকে তাকিয়ে যদি তারা তোমার কাছে প্রার্থনা করে;

49 Then hear you their prayer and their supplication in heaven your dwelling place, and maintain their cause,

তবে তুমি তোমার বাসস্থান সেই স্বর্গ থেকে তাদের প্রার্থনা ও মিনতি শুনো, ও তাদের প্রতি সুবিচার কোরো,

50 And forgive your people that have sinned against you, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against you, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:

এবং তোমার সেই প্রজাদের ক্ষমা কোরো, যারা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছে; তোমার বিরুদ্ধে করা তাদের সব অপরাধ ক্ষমা কোরো, এবং তাদের বন্দিকারীদের মনে এমন ভাব উৎপন্ন কোরো, যেন তারা তাদের প্রতি দয়া দেখায়;

51 For they be your people, and your inheritance, which you brought forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:

কারণ তারা যে তোমার সেই প্রজা ও উত্তরাধিকার, যাদের তুমি মিশর থেকে, সেই লোহা গলানো চুল্লি থেকে বের করে নিয়ে এসেছিলে।

52 That your eyes may be open unto the supplication of your servant, and unto the supplication of your people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto you.

“তোমার চোখ তোমার দাসের মিনতির প্রতি ও তোমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের মিনতির প্রতিও খোলা থাকুক, এবং তারা যখনই তোমার কাছে কেঁদে উঠবে, তুমি যেন তা শুনতে পাও।

53 For you did separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be your inheritance, as you spoke by the hand of Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.

কারণ তুমি তাদের তোমার নিজস্ব উত্তরাধিকার হওয়ার জন্য জগতের সব জাতির মধ্যে থেকে আলাদা করে বেছে নিয়েছ, ঠিক যেভাবে তুমি, হে সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু, আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মিশর থেকে বের করে আনার সময় তোমার দাস মোশির মাধ্যমে ঘোষণা করলে।”

54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

সদাপ্রভুর কাছে এইসব প্রার্থনা ও মিনতি উৎসর্গ করা সমাপ্ত হয়ে যাওয়ার পর শলোমন সদাপ্রভুর সেই যজ্ঞবেদির সামনে থেকে উঠে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন, যেখানে তিনি নতজানু হয়ে স্বর্গের দিকে দু-হাত প্রসারিত করে রেখেছিলেন।

55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

তিনি উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে জোর গলায় সমগ্র ইস্রায়েলী জনতাকে আশীর্বাদ করে বললেন:

56 Blessed be the LORD, that has given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

“সেই সদাপ্রভুর গৌরব হোক, যিনি তাঁর প্রতিজ্ঞানুসারে তাঁর প্রজা ইস্রায়েলকে বিশ্রাম দিয়েছেন। তিনি তাঁর দাস মোশির মাধ্যমে যত ভালো ভালো প্রতিজ্ঞা করলেন, তার একটিও ব্যর্থ হয়নি।

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:

আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু যেমন আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ছিলেন, তেমনি তিনি আমাদেরও সঙ্গে সঙ্গে থাকুন; তিনি যেন আমাদের না ছাড়েন বা আমাদের পরিত্যাগ না করেন।

58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

তাঁর প্রতি বাধ্যতায় চলার জন্য ও তিনি আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের যে যে আদেশ, বিধিবিধান ও নিয়মকানুন দিলেন, সেগুলি পালন করার জন্য তিনি যেন আমাদের অন্তর তাঁর প্রতি ফিরিয়ে আনেন।

59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

আর আমি সদাপ্রভুর সামনে যে প্রার্থনাটি করেছি তার এক-একটি কথা যেন দিনরাত আমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর কাছাকাছি থাকে, যেন তিনি প্রতিদিনের চাহিদা অনুসারে তাঁর দাসের ও তাঁর প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি সুবিচার করলেন,

60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

যেন পৃথিবীর সব লোকজন জানতে পারে যে সদাপ্রভুই ঈশ্বর ও তিনি ছাড়া আর কেউ ঈশ্বর নয়।

61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

আর তোমাদের অন্তর যেন আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর বিধিবিধান অনুসারে চলার ও তাঁর আদেশের বাধ্য হওয়ার জন্য তাঁর প্রতি পুরোপুরি সমর্পিত থাকে, যেমনটি এসময় হয়েছে।”

62 And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.

পরে রাজামশাই ও তাঁর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ইস্রায়েলীরা সবাই সদাপ্রভুর সামনে বলি উৎসর্গ করলেন।

63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.

শলোমন সদাপ্রভুর কাছে এই মঙ্গলার্থক-নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করলেন: 22,000-টি গবাদি পশু ও 1,20,000-টি মেষ ও ছাগল। এইভাবে রাজা ও ইস্রায়েলী সবাই সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরটি উৎসর্গ করলেন।

64 The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and food offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brazen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and food offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.

সেদিনই রাজামশাই সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের সামনের দিকের প্রাঙ্গণের মাঝের অংশটুকুও উৎসর্গ করে দিলেন, এবং সেখানে তিনি হোমবলি, শষ্য-বলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক-নৈবেদ্যের চর্বি উৎসর্গ করলেন, কারণ সদাপ্রভুর সামনে রাখা ব্রোঞ্জের যজ্ঞবেদিটি হোমবলি, শষ্য-বলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক-নৈবেদ্যের চর্বি ধারণ করার পক্ষে বড়োই ছোটো হয়ে গেল।

65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

অতএব শলোমন সেই সময় উৎসব পালন করলেন, এবং তাঁর সাথে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলও পালন করল—সে এক বিশাল জনতা, হমাতের প্রবেশদ্বার থেকে মিশরের নির্ঝরিণী পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত এলাকার লোকজন সেখানে উপস্থিত হল। আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সামনে তারা সাত দিন ও আরও সাত দিন, মোট চোদ্দো দিন ধরে উৎসব উদ্‌যাপন করল।

66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

পরদিন তিনি লোকজনকে ফেরত পাঠিয়ে দিলেন। তারা রাজামশাইকে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে ও সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দাস দাউদ ও তাঁর প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি যেসব মঙ্গল করেছেন, তার জন্য খুশিমনে আনন্দ করতে করতে যে যার ঘরে ফিরে গেল।
