Revelation 1
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
イエス・キリストの黙示。これは、すぐに起こるはずの事をそのしもべたちに示すため、神がキリストにお与えになったものである。そしてキリストは、その御使いを遣わして、これをしもべヨハネにお告げになった。
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
ヨハネは、神のことばとイエス・キリストのあかし、すなわち、彼の見たすべての事をあかしした。
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
この預言のことばを朗読する者と、それを聞いて、そこに書かれていることを心に留める人々は幸いである。時が近づいているからである。
4 John to the seven Assemblies which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
ヨハネから、アジヤにある七つの教会へ。常にいまし、昔いまし、後に来られる方から、また、その御座の前におられる七つの御霊から、
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
また、忠実な証人、死者の中から最初によみがえられた方、地上の王たちの支配者であるイエス・キリストから、恵みと平安が、あなたがたにあるように。イエス・キリストは私たちを愛して、その血によって私たちを罪から解き放ち、
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
また、私たちを王国とし、ご自分の父である神のために祭司としてくださった方である。キリストに栄光と力とが、とこしえにあるように。アーメン。 (aiōn g165)
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
見よ、彼が、雲に乗って来られる。すべての目、ことに彼を突き刺した者たちが、彼を見る。地上の諸族はみな、彼のゆえに嘆く。しかり。アーメン。
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
神である主、常にいまし、昔いまし、後に来られる方、万物の支配者がこう言われる。「わたしはアルファであり、オメガである。」
9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
私ヨハネは、あなたがたの兄弟であり、あなたがたとともにイエスにある苦難と御国と忍耐とにあずかっている者であって、神のことばとイエスのあかしとのゆえに、パトモスという島にいた。
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
私は、主の日に御霊に感じ、私のうしろにラッパの音のような大きな声を聞いた。
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven Assemblies which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
その声はこう言った。「あなたの見ることを巻き物にしるして、七つの教会、すなわち、エペソ、スミルナ、ペルガモ、テアテラ、サルデス、フィラデルフィヤ、ラオデキヤに送りなさい。」
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden lampstands;
そこで私は、私に語りかける声を見ようとして振り向いた。振り向くと、七つの金の燭台が見えた。
13 And in the midst of the seven lampstands one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
それらの燭台の真中には、足までたれた衣を着て、胸に金の帯を締めた、人の子のような方が見えた。
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
その頭と髪の毛は、白い羊毛のように、また雪のように白く、その目は、燃える炎のようであった。
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
その足は、炉で精練されて光り輝くしんちゅうのようであり、その声は大水の音のようであった。
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
また、右手に七つの星を持ち、口からは鋭い両刃の剣が出ており、顔は強く照り輝く太陽のようであった。
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
それで私は、この方を見たとき、その足もとに倒れて死者のようになった。しかし彼は右手を私の上に置いてこう言われた。「恐れるな。わたしは、最初であり、最後であり、
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
そこで、あなたの見た事、今ある事、この後に起こる事を書きしるせ。
20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands. The seven stars are the angels of the seven Assemblies: and the seven lampstands which thou sawest are the seven Assemblies.
わたしの右の手の中に見えた七つの星と、七つの金の燭台について、その秘められた意味を言えば、七つの星は七つの教会の御使いたち、七つの燭台は七つの教会である。
