< Psalms 6 >
1 O Yhwh, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David. LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy upon me, O Yhwh; for I am weak: O Yhwh, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint. LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Yhwh, how long?
My soul is also in great anguish. But you, LORD—how long?
4 Return, O Yhwh, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.
Return, LORD. Deliver my soul, and save me for your loving kindness’ sake.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? (Sheol )
For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks? (Sheol )
6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears.
7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.
8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for Yhwh hath heard the voice of my weeping.
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 Yhwh hath heard my supplication; Yhwh will receive my prayer.
The LORD has heard my supplication. The LORD accepts my prayer.
10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
