< Psalms 3 >
1 Yhwh, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
A psalm of David concerning the time he had to flee from his son Absalom. Lord, my enemies have become so many; so many are rebelling against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. (Selah)
So many are telling me, “God can't save you!” (Selah)
3 But thou, O Yhwh, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
But you, Lord, are a shield protecting me. You give me victory; you hold my head high.
4 I cried unto Yhwh with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. (Selah)
I cry out to the Lord for help, and he answers me from his holy mountain. (Selah)
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for Yhwh sustained me.
I lie down to sleep, and in the morning I wake up because the Lord takes care of me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I'm not afraid of tens of thousands who surround me, people who are against me.
7 Arise, O Yhwh; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Stand up for me, Lord! Save me, my God! Hit all my enemies on the cheek; break the teeth of the wicked!
8 Salvation belongeth unto Yhwh: thy blessing is upon thy people. (Selah)
Salvation belongs to you, Lord; may you be a blessing to your people. (Selah)
