< Psalms 20 >
1 Yhwh hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
For the music director. A psalm of David. May the Lord answer you when you are in trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
May the Lord send you help from the sanctuary, and may he support you from Zion.
3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; (Selah)
May the Lord remember all your offerings, and accept all your burnt sacrifices. (Selah)
4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
May the Lord give you whatever you really want; may he make all your plans successful.
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: Yhwh fulfil all thy petitions.
May we shout for joy over your victory, and set up banners in the name of our God. May the Lord answer all your requests.
6 Now know I that Yhwh saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
Now I know that the Lord saves the one he has anointed. He will answer him from his holy heaven, and save his anointed by his powerful right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of Yhwh our God.
Some trust in chariots and some in war horses, but we trust in who the Lord our God is.
8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
They collapse and fall down, but we rise and stand up.
9 Save, Yhwh: let the king hear us when we call.
May the Lord save the king! Please answer us when we call for help!
