< Proverbs 6 >
1 My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
na dei e lawk dawk letlang na kâman toe. Na dei e lawk hoi la lah na o toe.
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
Ip hanh, ngam takhai hanh.
5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Moi ka me e koehoi sakhi ni a yawng takhai e patetlah, yawng takhai haw, tangkam dawk hoi kahlout e tava patetlah kamleng takhai haw.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Nange tami ka pangak, lungkhi koe cet nateh, a oangnae lahoi lungangnae kamtu haw.
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Ahnimouh teh, kahrawikung, karipkung, kaukkung, tawn awh hoeh eiteh,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
kawmpoi vah rawca a pâtung awh teh, canga tue nah rawca a pâtung awh.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Oe, tami ka pangak, nâtotouh maw na i han. Nâtuek maw na kâhlaw han.
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Ka ip ei haw pawiteh, dongdeng ka yan ei haw pawiteh, kut kâtapam hoi dongdeng kâhat ei haw pawiteh, na ti lahun nah,
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a perverse mouth.
Tami cungkeihoeh e, tami kahawihoehe teh, tamthoe hoi a kâhlai.
13 He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
A mit a kaluek teh, a khok hoi mitnout a poe teh, a kutdawn hoi a takhi teh a pâtu.
14 Perverseness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
A lungpouk a longkawi teh, pout laipalah, hawihoehnae dueng a pouk teh, kâyuenae cati doeh ouk a tu.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16 These six things doth Yhwh hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Hete hno taruk touh heh, BAWIPA ni a hmuhma. Bokheiyah, a panuet e hno sari touh a pha.
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Kâoupnae mit, laithoe ka deinae lai, yon ka tawn hoeh e tami theinae kut,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Hawihoehnae meng ka pouk e lungthin, kahawihoehe sak nahanelah a hue ka rang e khok,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Laithoe ouk ka dei e kapanuekkhaikung kaphawk hoi, hmaunawngha rahak kâpohoehnae cati ka patuekungnaw doeh.
20 My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
Ka capa, na pa e kâpoelawk hah tarawi nateh, na manu e kâlawk hah cettakhai hanh.
21 Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
Na lungthung pâkuem nateh, na lahuen dawk awi haw.
22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Bangtelah tetpawiteh, kâpoe e teh, hmaiim lah ao teh, kâlawk teh angnae lah ao. Cingthuilasak e teh hringnae lamthung doeh.
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Napui kathout hoi pasawtpanepnae koehoi na hlout sak han.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Na lungthin hoi a meihawinae nôe hanh lah a, a mit padainae ni na man hanh naseh.
26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
Bangkongtetpawiteh, kâyawt e napui kecu dawk, tongpatang heh vaiyei tangen lah a coung teh, ayâ yu ka yonkhai e ni, ka sungren e a hringnae hah a raphoe.
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Tami ni a khok kang laipalah, hmaisaan van a cei thai han na maw.
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
Hot patetvanlah, a imri yu ka ipkhai e tami hai hot patetlah doeh ao. Ayâ yu ka ipkhai e tami teh, yonnae hoi hlout hoeh.
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
A vonhlam dawk tami ni parawt pawiteh, hote tamru teh tami ni pacekpahlek hoeh.
31 But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Hmu lah awm pawiteh, let sari touh hoi a patho roeroe hanelah ao. A im dawk kaawm e hno pueng a rawng hanelah ao.
32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
Ayâ yu hoi ka uicuk e tami pueng teh, panuenae ka tawn hoeh e tami doeh. Ama hringnae ka raphoekung lah ao.
33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Hmâtan cat vaiteh, min mathoe a kâhmo han. A kayanae teh roum thai mahoeh.
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
Bangkongtetpawiteh, dipmanae ni vanaw puenghoi a lung ouk a khuek sak. Moipathungnae hnin navah hlout thai mahoeh
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
Rawng e hno nâyittouh hai banglah noutna mahoeh. Hno moikapap ka poe nakunghai a lung roum sak thai mahoeh.
