Proverbs 23
1 When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee:
Quando você se senta para comer com uma régua, considere diligentemente o que está diante de você;
2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.
coloque uma faca em sua garganta se você é um homem dado ao apetite.
3 Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.
Não deseje suas delicadezas, uma vez que são alimentos enganosos.
4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Não se canse de ser rico. Em sua sabedoria, mostre contenção.
5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
Por que você põe seus olhos naquilo que não é? Pois certamente brota asas como uma águia e voa no céu.
6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
Não coma a comida daquele que tem um olho mesquinho, e não anseie por suas iguarias,
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
pois, como ele pensa sobre o custo, assim ele é. “Coma e beba!”, diz ele para você, mas seu coração não está com você.
8 The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
Você vai vomitar o bocado que comeu e desperdiçar suas palavras agradáveis.
9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
Não fale nos ouvidos de um tolo, pois ele desprezará a sabedoria de suas palavras.
10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
Não mova a antiga pedra limite. Não invadir os campos dos órfãos de pai,
11 For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
para seu Defensor é forte. Ele defenderá seu caso contra você.
12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
Aplique seu coração às instruções, e seus ouvidos às palavras do conhecimento.
13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Não reter a correção de uma criança. Se você o punir com a vara, ele não morrerá.
Punish ele com a haste, e salvar sua alma do Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
15 My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
Meu filho, se seu coração é sábio, então meu coração ficará contente, até mesmo o meu.
16 Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
Yes, meu coração se regozijará quando seus lábios falam o que é certo.
17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of Yhwh all the day long.
Não deixe que seu coração inveje os pecadores, mas sim temer Yahweh o dia todo.
18 For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.
De fato, certamente há uma esperança futura, e sua esperança não será cortada.
19 Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Ouça, meu filho, e seja sábio, e mantenha seu coração no caminho certo!
20 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:
Não esteja entre os que bebem vinho em demasia, ou aqueles que se empanturram de carne;
21 For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
para o bêbado e o glutão devem se tornar pobres; e sonolência os veste em trapos.
22 Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
Ouça seu pai que lhe deu a vida, e não despreze sua mãe quando ela for velha.
23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
Compre a verdade, e não a venda. Obtenha sabedoria, disciplina e compreensão.
24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.
O pai dos justos tem grande alegria. Quem quer que seja o pai de uma criança sábia se deleita com ele.
25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.
Deixe que seu pai e sua mãe fiquem felizes! Deixem que ela que os aborreceu se regozije!
26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Meu filho, dá-me o teu coração; e deixar que seus olhos se mantenham em meus caminhos.
27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
Para uma prostituta é um poço profundo; e uma esposa desobediente é um poço estreito.
28 She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.
Sim, ela está à espera como um ladrão, e aumenta os infiéis entre os homens.
29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Quem tem pesar? Quem tem tristeza? Quem tem problemas? Quem tem reclamações? Quem tem hematomas desnecessários? Quem tem olhos vermelhos?
30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Aqueles que ficam muito tempo no vinho; aqueles que vão em busca de vinho misto.
31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
Não olhe para o vinho quando ele está tinto, quando brilha no copo, quando a queda é suave.
32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
In o final, ele morde como uma cobra, e venenos como uma víbora.
33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
Seus olhos verão coisas estranhas, e sua mente vai imaginar coisas confusas.
34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
Yes, você será como aquele que se deita no meio do mar, ou como aquele que está em cima do cordame:
35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“Eles me bateram, e eu não fui ferido! Eles me bateram, e eu não sinto isso! Quando eu vou acordar? Posso fazer isso novamente. Vou procurar mais”.
