Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from Yhwh.
१मनात योजना करणे मनुष्याच्या हातचे आहे, पण त्याच्या जिव्हेचे उत्तर देणे परमेश्वराकडचे आहे.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Yhwh weigheth the spirits.
२मनुष्याच्या दृष्टीने त्याचे सर्व मार्ग शुद्ध असतात, पण परमेश्वर आत्मे तोलून पाहतो.
3 Commit thy works unto Yhwh, and thy thoughts shall be established.
३आपली कामे परमेश्वराच्या स्वाधीन करा, आणि म्हणजे तुमच्या योजना यशस्वी होतील.
4 Yhwh hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
४परमेश्वराने सर्वकाही त्याच्या उद्देशासाठी बनवलेले आहे, दुर्जनदेखील अरिष्टाच्या दिवसासाठी केलेला आहे.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Yhwh: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
५प्रत्येक गर्विष्ठ मनाच्या मनुष्याचा परमेश्वरास वीट आहे, जरी ते हातात हात घालून उभे राहिले, तरी त्यांना शिक्षा झाल्यावाचून राहणार नाही.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of Yhwh men depart from evil.
६कराराचा प्रामाणिकपणा व विश्वसनीयता ह्यांच्या योगाने पापांचे प्रायश्चित होते, आणि परमेश्वराचे भय धरल्याने, लोक वाईटापासून वळून दूर राहतील.
7 When a man’s ways please Yhwh, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
७मनुष्याचे मार्ग परमेश्वरास आवडले म्हणजे, त्या मनुष्याच्या शत्रूलाही त्याच्याशी समेट करण्यास भाग पाडतो.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
८अन्यायाने मिळवलेल्या मोठ्या मिळकतीपेक्षा, न्यायाने कमावलेले थोडेसे चांगले आहे.
9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: But Yhwh directeth his steps.
९मनुष्याचे मन त्याच्या मार्गाची योजना करते, पण परमेश्वर त्याच्या पावलांना वाट दाखवतो.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
१०दैवी निर्णय राजाच्या ओठात असतात, न्याय करताना त्याच्या मुखाने कपटाने बोलू नये.
11 A just weight and balance are Yhwh's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
११परमेश्वराकडून प्रामाणिक मोजमाप येते; पिशवीतील सर्व वजने त्याचे कार्य आहे.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
१२जेव्हा राजा वाईट गोष्टी करतो, त्या गोष्टी त्यास तिरस्कारणीय आहेत, कारण राजासन नीतिमत्तेनेच स्थापित होते.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
१३नीतिमत्तेने बोलणाऱ्या ओठाने राजाला आनंद होतो, आणि जे कोणी सरळ बोलतात ते त्यास प्रिय आहेत.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
१४राजाचा क्रोध मृत्यू दूतांसारखा आहे. पण सुज्ञ मनुष्य त्याचा राग शांत करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो.
15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
१५राजाच्या मुखतेजात जीवन आहे, आणि त्याचा अनुग्रह शेवटल्या पावसाच्या मेघासारखा आहे.
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
१६सोन्यापेक्षा ज्ञान प्राप्त करून घेणे किती तरी उत्तम आहे. रुप्यापेक्षा समजुतदारपणा निवडून घ्यावा.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
१७दुष्कर्मापासून वळणे हा सरळांचा राजमार्ग आहे, जो आपल्या मार्गाकडे लक्ष ठेवतो तो आपला जीव राखतो.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
१८नाशापूर्वी गर्व येतो, आणि मनाचा ताठा अधःपाताचे मूळ आहे.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
१९गर्विष्ठांबरोबर राहून लूट वाटून घेण्यापेक्षा दीनांबरोबर विनम्र असणे चांगले.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in Yhwh, happy is he.
२०जो कोणी जे काही चांगले आहे ते शोधतो, त्यास शिकवीले त्याचे निरीक्षण करतो, आणि जो परमेश्वरावर विश्वास ठेवतो तो आनंदीत होतो.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
२१जो मनाचा सुज्ञ त्यास समंजस म्हणतात, आणि मधुर वाणीने शिकवण्यची क्षमता वाढते.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
२२ज्यांच्याकडे सुज्ञान आहे त्यास ती जीवनाचा झरा आहे, पण मूर्खाचे मूर्खपण त्याची शिक्षा आहे.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
२३सुज्ञ मनुष्याच्या हृदयापासून त्याच्या मुखास शिक्षण मिळते; आणि त्याच्या वाणीत विद्येची भर घालते.
24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
२४आनंदी शब्द मधाचे पोळ अशी आहेत, ती जिवाला गोड व हाडांस आरोग्य आहेत.
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
२५मनुष्यास एक मार्ग सरळ दिसतो, पण त्याचा शेवट मृत्यूमार्गाकडे आहे.
26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
२६कामगाराची भूक त्याच्यासाठी काम करते; त्याची भूक त्यास ते करायला लावते.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
२७नालायक मनुष्य खोड्या उकरून काढतो, आणि त्याची वाणी होरपळणाऱ्या अग्नीसारखी आहे.
28 A perverse man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
२८कुटिल मनुष्य संघर्ष निर्माण करतो, आणि निंदा करणाऱ्या जवळच्या मित्रांना वेगळे करतो.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
२९जुलमी मनुष्य आपल्या शेजाऱ्याशी लबाड बोलतो, आणि जो मार्ग चांगला नाही अशात त्यास नेतो.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise perverse things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
३०जो कोणी मनुष्य कुटिल गोष्टीच्या योजणेला डोळे मिचकावतो; जो आपले ओठ आवळून धरतो तो दुष्कर्म घडून आणतो.
31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
३१पिकलेले केस वैभवाचा मुकुट आहे; नीतिमत्तेच्या मार्गाने चालण्याने तो प्राप्त होतो.
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
३२ज्याला लवकर राग येत नाही तो योद्धापेक्षा, आणि जो आत्म्यावर अधिकार चालवतो तो नगर जिंकऱ्यापेक्षा उत्तम आहे.
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of Yhwh.
३३पदरात चिठ्ठ्या टाकतात, पण त्यांचा निर्णय सर्वस्वी परमेश्वराकडून आहे.
