Nahum 1
1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
Prédiction à Ninive, livre de la vision de Nahum, Elcéséen.
2 God is jealous, And Yhwh revengeth; Yhwh revengeth, and is furious; Yhwh will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
Dieu est jaloux, le Seigneur Se venge, le Seigneur Se venge avec colère, le Seigneur tire vengeance de ceux qui Lui sont opposés; Il extermine Ses ennemis.
3 Yhwh is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: Yhwh hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
Le Seigneur est longanime, Sa force est grande; mais le Seigneur ne laissera pas impuni celui qu'Il n'a pas encore puni; Sa voie est dans la destruction et les ébranlements; et les nuages sont la poussière de Ses pieds.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
C'est Lui qui menace la mer et qui la dessèche; c'est Lui qui change en désert tous les fleuves. Basan et le Carmel ont défailli, et les fleurs du Liban se sont fanées.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
Par Lui, les montagnes ont tressailli et les collines ont tremblé; devant Sa face toute la terre a reculé, et ceux qui l'habitent
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
Qui soutiendra le regard de Sa fureur? Qui résistera aux transports de Son courroux? Sa colère ronge les fondations; les rochers se fendent devant Lui.
7 Yhwh is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
Le Seigneur est doux pour ceux qui L'attendent au jour de la tribulation; Il connaît ceux qui Le révèrent.
8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Il détruira votre voie par une inondation; les ténèbres poursuivent ceux qui se lèvent contre Lui et Le haïssent.
9 What do ye imagine against Yhwh? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
Pourquoi vos pensées sont-elles contre le Seigneur? Lui seul mène toutes choses à leur fin; Il ne S'y prendra pas à deux fois pour vous briser.
10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Et celui-là sera dévasté jusqu'aux fondations, il sera dévoré par la flamme comme l'if aux rameaux entrelacés, comme le chaume tout à fait desséché.
11 There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against Yhwh, a wicked counsellor.
De toi, ô Ninive, sortira contre le Seigneur une pensée méchante et ennemie.
12 Thus saith Yhwh; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
Or voici ce que dit le Seigneur, souverain Maître des grandes eaux. Ils seront séparés pareillement, et l'on n'entendra plus parler de toi.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Et maintenant, Mon peuple, Je vais briser loin de toi sa verge, et rompre tes liens.
14 And Yhwh hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
Voici ce que sur toi, Ninive, a prescrit le Seigneur: Ta renommée ne sera plus semée au loin; Je détruirai dans le temple de ton dieu les images sculptées ou jetées en fonte; Je vais comme en courant préparer ton sépulcre.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Voici sur les montagnes les pieds de Celui qui apporte la bonne nouvelle et qui annonce la paix. Juda, célèbre tes fêtes, accomplis tes vœux, car tes ennemis ne passeront plus sur ta terre, encouragés par ta décrépitude. Tout est fini pour eux, ils ont été retranchés.
