Matthew 11
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
E, aconteceu que, acabando Jesus de dar seus preceitos aos seus doze discipulos, partiu d'ali a ensinar e a prégar nas cidades d'elles.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
E João, ouvindo, no carcere, fallar dos feitos de Christo, enviou dois dos seus discipulos,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
Dizendo-lhe: És tu aquelle que havia de vir, ou esperamos outro?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
E Jesus, respondendo, disse-lhes: Ide, e annunciae a João as coisas que ouvis e vêdes:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Os cegos vêem, e os coxos andam; os leprosos são purificados, e os surdos ouvem; os mortos são resuscitados, e o evangelho é annunciado aos pobres.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
E bemaventurado é aquelle que se não escandalizar em mim.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
E, partindo elles, começou Jesus a dizer ás turbas, a respeito de João: Que fostes vêr no deserto? uma canna agitada pelo vento?
8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
Ou que fostes vêr? um homem ricamente vestido? Os que trajam ricamente estão nas casas dos reis.
9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
Ou então que fostes vêr? um propheta? sim, vos digo eu, e muito mais do que propheta:
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Porque é este de quem está escripto: Eis que adiante da tua face envio o meu anjo, que preparará adiante de ti o teu caminho.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Em verdade vos digo que, entre os que de mulheres teem nascido, não appareceu alguem maior do que João Baptista; mas aquelle que é o menor no reino dos céus é maior do que elle
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
E, desde os dias de João Baptista até agora, se faz violencia ao reino dos céus, e os violentos se apoderam d'elle.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Porque todos os prophetas e a lei prophetizaram até João.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come.
E, se quereis dar credito, é este o Elias que havia de vir.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir oiça.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
Mas, a quem assimilharei esta geração? É similhante aos meninos que se assentam nas praças, e clamam aos seus companheiros,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
E dizem: Tocámos-vos flauta, e não dançastes: cantámos-vos lamentações, e não chorastes.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
Pois veiu João, não comendo nem bebendo, e dizem: Tem demonio.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
Veiu o Filho do homem, comendo e bebendo, e dizem: Eis ahi um homem comilão e beberrão, amigo de publicanos e peccadores. Mas a sabedoria é justificada por seus filhos.
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
Então começou elle a lançar em rosto ás cidades onde se operou a maior parte dos seus prodigios o não se haverem arrependido, dizendo:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
Ai de ti, Corazin! ai de ti, Bethsaida! porque, se em Tyro e em Sidon fossem feitos os prodigios que em vós se fizeram, ha muito que se teriam arrependido, com sacco e com cinza.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
Porém eu vos digo que haverá menos rigor para Tyro e Sidon, no dia do juizo, do que para vós.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs g86)
E tu, Capernaum, que te ergues até aos céus, serás abatida até aos infernos; porque, se entre os de Sodoma fossem feitos os prodigios que em ti se fizeram, teriam permanecido até hoje (Hadēs g86)
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Porém eu vos digo que haverá menos rigor para os de Sodoma, no dia do juizo, do que para ti.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
N'aquelle tempo, respondendo Jesus, disse: Graças te dou, ó Pae, Senhor do céu e da terra, que occultaste estas coisas aos sabios e intelligentes, e as revelaste aos meninos.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Sim, ó Pae, porque assim te aprouve.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
Todas as coisas me foram entregues por meu Pae: e ninguem conhece o Filho, senão o Pae; e ninguem conhece o Pae, senão o Filho, e aquelle a quem o Filho o quizer revelar.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Vinde a mim, todos os que estaes cançados e opprimidos, e eu vos alliviarei.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Tomae sobre vós o meu jugo, e aprendei de mim, que sou manso e humilde de coração; e encontrareis descanço para as vossas almas.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Porque o meu jugo é suave e o meu fardo é leve.
