Joshua 24
1 And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
Y juntando Josué todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem, llamó a los ancianos de Israel, y a sus príncipes, a sus jueces, y sus alcaldes, y presentáronse delante de Dios:
2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith Yhwh God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the River in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.
Y dijo Josué a todo el pueblo: Así dice Jehová, Dios de Israel: Vuestros padres habitaron antiguamente de esotra parte del río, es a saber, Tare padre de Abraham y de Nacor; y servían a dioses extraños.
3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
Y yo tomé a vuestro padre Abraham de la otra parte del río, y trájele por toda la tierra de Canaán, y aumenté su generación, y díle a Isaac.
4 And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
Y a Isaac di a Jacob, y a Esaú: y a Esaú di el monte de Seir, que lo poseyese; mas Jacob y sus hijos descendieron en Egipto.
5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.
Y yo envié a Moisés, y a Aarón, y herí a Egipto, como lo hice en medio de él, y después os saqué.
6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.
Y saqué a vuestros padres de Egipto: y como llegaron a la mar, los Egipcios siguieron a vuestros padres hasta el mar Bermejo con carros y caballería:
7 And when they cried unto Yhwh, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
Y como ellos clamasen a Jehová, él puso una oscuridad entre vosotros y los Egipcios: e hizo venir sobre ellos la mar, la cual los cubrió. Y vuestros ojos vieron lo que hice en Egipto: y estuvisteis muchos días en el desierto.
8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
Y os metí en la tierra de los Amorreos que habitaban de la otra parte del Jordán: los cuales pelearon contra vosotros, mas yo los entregué en vuestra mano: y poseisteis su tierra, y yo los destruí de delante de vosotros.
9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:
Levantóse después Balac hijo de Sefor rey de los Moabitas, y peleó contra Israel: y envió a llamar a Balaam hijo de Beor, para que os maldijese.
10 But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
Mas yo no quise escuchar a Balaam, antes os bendijo de bendición, y yo os libré de sus manos.
11 And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
Y pasado el Jordán vinisteis a Jericó, y los señores de Jericó pelearon contra vosotros: los Amorreos, Ferezeos, Cananeos, Jetteos, Gergeseos, Heveos, y Jebuseos, y yo los entregué en vuestras manos.
12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
Y envié tábanos delante de vosotros que los echaron de delante de vosotros, es a saber, a los dos reyes de los Amorreos: no con tu espada, ni con tu arco.
13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
Y os di la tierra en la cual nada trabajasteis; y las ciudades, que no edificasteis, en las cuales moráis: y las viñas y olivares, que no plantasteis, de las cuales coméis.
14 Now therefore fear Yhwh, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye Yhwh.
Ahora pues teméd a Jehová y servídle con perfección y con verdad: y quitád los dioses a los cuales sirvieron vuestros padres de esotra parte del río, y en Egipto; y servíd a Jehová.
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yhwh, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yhwh.
Y si mal os parece servir a Jehová, escogéos hoy a quien sirváis: o a los dioses, a quien sirvieron vuestros padres: cuando estuvieron de esotra parte del río, o a los dioses de los Amorreos, en cuya tierra habitáis: que yo y mi casa serviremos a Jehová.
16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake Yhwh, to serve other gods;
Entonces el pueblo respondió, y dijo: Nunca tal nos acontezca, que dejemos a Jehová por servir a otros dioses:
17 For Yhwh our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
Porque Jehová nuestro Dios, es el que nos sacó a nosotros, y a nuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre: el cual delante de nuestros ojos ha hecho estas grandes señales, y nos ha guardado por todo camino por donde hemos andado, y en todos los pueblos entre los cuales hemos pasado.
18 And Yhwh drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve Yhwh; for he is our God.
Y Jehová echó de delante de nosotros a todos los pueblos: y al Amorreo que habitaba en la tierra. Por tanto nosotros también serviremos a Jehová, porque él es nuestro Dios.
19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve Yhwh: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
Entonces Josué dijo al pueblo: No podréis servir a Jehová: porque él es Dios santo, y Dios celoso: no sufrirá vuestras rebeliones, y vuestros pecados.
20 If ye forsake Yhwh, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
Si dejareis a Jehová, y sirviereis a dioses ajenos, volverse ha y maltrataros ha, y consumiros ha después que os ha hecho bien.
21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve Yhwh.
El pueblo entonces dijo a Josué: No, antes a Jehová serviremos.
22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you Yhwh, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
Y Josué respondió al pueblo: Vosotros seréis testigos contra vosotros mismos, que vosotros os habéis elegido a Jehová para que le sirváis. Y ellos respondieron: Testigos seremos.
23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Yhwh God of Israel.
Quitád pues ahora los dioses ajenos que están entre vosotros: e inclinád vuestro corazón a Jehová Dios de Israel.
24 And the people said unto Joshua, Yhwh our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
Y el pueblo respondió a Josué: A Jehová nuestro Dios serviremos; y a su voz obedeceremos.
25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
Entonces Josué hizo alianza con el pueblo el mismo día: y púsole ordenanzas y leyes en Siquem.
26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of Yhwh.
Y escribió Josué estas palabras en el libro de la ley de Dios: y tomando una grande piedra levantóla en el mismo lugar debajo de un alcornoque que estaba en el santuario de Jehová.
27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of Yhwh which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
Y dijo Josué a todo el pueblo: He aquí, esta piedra será entre nosotros por testigo, la cual ha oído todas las palabras de Jehová que él ha hablado con nosotros: y será testigo contra vosotros, porque no mintáis contra vuestro Dios.
28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
Y envió Josué el pueblo, cada uno a su heredad.
29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Yhwh, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
Y después de estas cosas Josué hijo de Nun siervo de Jehová, murió, siendo de ciento y diez años.
30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath–serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
Y enterráronle en el término de su posesión en Tamnat-sera, que es en el monte de Efraím al norte del monte de Gaas.
31 And Israel served Yhwh all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of Yhwh, that he had done for Israel.
E Israel sirvió a Jehová todo el tiempo de Josué y todo el tiempo de los ancianos que vivieron después de Josué, y que sabían todas las obras de Jehová, que había hecho con Israel.
32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
Y también enterraron en Siquem los huesos de José que los hijos de Israel habían traído de Egipto, en la parte del campo que Jacob compró de los hijos de Jemor padre de Siquem, por cien monedas de plata, y fueron en posesión a los hijos de José.
33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
También murió Eleazar hijo de Aarón: al cual enterraron en el collado de Finees su hijo, que le fue dado en el monte de Efraím.
