Isaiah 54
1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith Yhwh.
Réjouis-toi, femme stérile qui n'as point enfanté; éclate et crie de joie, toi qui n'as point souffert les douleurs de l'enfantement; parce que la femme délaissée a plus d'enfants que celle qui a un mari; car le Seigneur a dit:
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
Élargis l'espace de ta tente et de tes couvertures; enfonce-les autant que possible; allonge tes cordages, et affermis tes pieux.
3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Dilate-toi à droite et à gauche, et ta race aura les nations pour héritage, et tu repeupleras des villes désertes.
4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
Ne crains point parce que tu auras été humiliée; ne rougis point parce que tu auras été outragée; car tu ne te souviendras plus de tes longues humiliations, et tu oublieras l'opprobre de ton veuvage.
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; Yhwh of Armies is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Car c'est le Seigneur qui t'a créée; son nom est le Seigneur des armées; c'est le Dieu d'Israël qui t'a rachetée, et il sera invoqué par toute la terre.
6 For Yhwh hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
Le Seigneur ne t'a point appelée comme une femme abandonnée et sans courage, ni comme une femme haïe dès sa jeunesse; ton Dieu a dit:
7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
Je t'ai délaissée un peu de temps, mais je vais te traiter avec une grande miséricorde.
8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith Yhwh thy Redeemer.
J'ai détourné de toi mon visage avec une colère de peu de durée; mais je vais t'accorder ma miséricorde éternelle, a dit le Seigneur qui t'a rachetée.
9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
Depuis le déluge du temps de Noé, il me souvient, comme je le lui ai juré alors, de dire à la terre: Je ne veux plus être irrité contre toi,
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith Yhwh that hath mercy on thee.
Ni te menacer de transplanter tes montagnes, et d'ébranler tes collines. Ainsi ma miséricorde ne t'abandonnera point, et mon alliance de paix avec toi ne sera point altérée; car le Seigneur Dieu t'a parlé favorablement.
11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
Humble et désolée, nul ne te consolait. Et voilà que je prépare pour toi des escarboucles au lieu de pierres, et pour tes fondations des saphirs.
12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
Et je te ferai des créneaux de jaspe, des portes de cristal, et une enceinte de pierres précieuses;
13 And all thy children shall be taught of Yhwh; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
Et tous tes fils seront des disciples de Dieu, et tes enfants jouiront d'une paix abondante.
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
Et tu seras rebâtie selon la justice. Abstiens-toi de l'iniquité, et tu n'auras rien à craindre, et la frayeur ne s'approchera point de toi.
15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
Voilà que des prosélytes te viendront envoyés par moi; ils habiteront avec toi, et tu seras leur refuge.
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
Voilà que je t'ai créée, non comme le forgeron qui souffle sur les charbons et qui porte avec lui les instruments de son art; mais je t'ai créée non pour la destruction, qui ruine
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Yhwh, and their righteousness is of me, saith Yhwh.
Tout vase périssable. J'empêcherai qu'elle ne t'atteigne; toute voix qui s'élèvera contre toi en justice, tu en triompheras; et ceux qui t'auront accusée seront déclarés coupables. Tel est l'héritage de ceux qui servent le Seigneur, et vous l'aurez, vous qui êtes mes justes, dit le Seigneur.
