Isaiah 37
1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Yhwh.
जब राजा हिज़किय्याह ने यह सब सुना, उसने अपने वस्त्र फाड़ दिए, टाट पहन लिया और याहवेह के भवन में चला गया.
2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
राजा ने गृह प्रबंधक एलियाकिम, सचिव शेबना, पुरनियों और पुरोहितों को, जो टाट धारण किए हुए थे, आमोज़ के पुत्र भविष्यद्वक्ता यशायाह के पास भेजा.
3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
उन्होंने जाकर यशायाह से विनती की, “हिज़किय्याह की यह विनती है, ‘आज का दिन संकट, फटकार और अपमान का दिन है. प्रसव का समय आ पहुंचा है मगर प्रसूता में प्रसव के लिए शक्ति ही नहीं रह गई.
4 It may be Yhwh thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which Yhwh thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.
संभव है याहवेह, आपके परमेश्वर राबशाकेह द्वारा कहे गए सभी शब्द सुन लें, जो उसके स्वामी, अश्शूर के राजा ने जीवित परमेश्वर की निंदा में उससे कहलवाए थे. संभव है इन शब्दों को सुनकर याहवेह, आपके परमेश्वर उसे फटकार लगाएं. इसलिये कृपा कर यहां प्रजा के बचे हुओं के लिए आकर प्रार्थना कीजिए.’”
5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
जब राजा हिज़किय्याह के सेवक यशायाह के पास पहुंचे,
6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith Yhwh, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
यशायाह ने उनसे कहा, “अपने स्वामी से कहना, ‘याहवेह का संदेश यह है, उन शब्दों के कारण जो तुमने सुने हैं, जिनके द्वारा अश्शूर के राजा के सेवकों ने मेरी निंदा की है, तुम डरना मत.
7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
तुम देख लेना मैं उसमें एक ऐसी आत्मा ड़ाल दूंगा कि उसे उड़ते-उड़ते समाचार सुनाई देने लगेंगे और वह अपने देश को लौट जाएगा और ऐसा कुछ करूंगा कि वह अपने ही देश में तलवार का कौर हो जाएगा.’”
8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
जब प्रमुख सेनापति अपने देश लौटा, उसने पाया कि अश्शूर राजा लाकीश छोड़कर जा चुका था और वह लिबनाह से युद्ध कर रहा था.
9 And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
जब सेनहेरीब ने कूश के राजा तिरहाकाह से यह सुना कि वह तुमसे युद्ध करने निकल पड़ा है तब उसने अपने दूत हिज़किय्याह के पास यह कहकर भेजा:
10 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“तुम यहूदिया के राजा हिज़किय्याह से यह कहना, ‘जिस परमेश्वर पर तुम भरोसा करते हो, वह तुमसे यह प्रतिज्ञा करते हुए छल न करने पाए, कि येरूशलेम अश्शूर के राजा के अधीन नहीं किया जाएगा.
11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?
तुम यह सुन ही चुके हो, कि अश्शूर के राजाओं ने सारे राष्ट्रों को कैसे नाश कर दिया है. क्या तुम बचकर सुरक्षित रह सकोगे?
12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?
जब मेरे पूर्वजों ने गोज़ान, हारान, रेत्सेफ़ और तेलास्सार में एदेन की प्रजा को खत्म कर डाला था, क्या उनके देवता उनको बचा सके थे?
13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?
कहां है हामाथ का राजा, अरपाद का राजा, सेफरवाइम नगर का राजा और हेना और इव्वाह के राजा?’”
14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Yhwh, and spread it before Yhwh.
इसके बाद हिज़किय्याह ने उन पत्र ले आनेवाले दूतों से वह पत्र लेकर उसे पढ़ा और याहवेह के भवन को चला गया और उस पत्र को खोलकर याहवेह के सामने रख दिया.
15 And Hezekiah prayed unto Yhwh, saying,
हिज़किय्याह ने याहवेह से यह प्रार्थना की:
16 O Yhwh of Armies, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.
“सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर, आप, जो करूबों से भी ऊपर सिंहासन पर विराजमान हैं. परमेश्वर आप ही ने स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी को बनाया.
17 Incline thine ear, O Yhwh, and hear; open thine eyes, O Yhwh, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.
अपने कान मेरी ओर कीजिए, याहवेह, मेरी प्रार्थना सुन लीजिए. अपनी आंखें खोल दीजिए और याहवेह, देख लीजिए और उन शब्दों को सुन लीजिए, जो सेनहेरीब ने जीवित परमेश्वर का मज़ाक उड़ाते हुए कहे हैं.
18 Of a truth, Yhwh, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,
“याहवेह, यह सच है कि अश्शूर के राजाओं ने राष्ट्रों को और उनकी भूमि को उजाड़ कर छोड़ा हैं.
19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
और उनके देवताओं को आग में डाल दिया है, सिर्फ इसलिये कि वे देवता थे ही नहीं, वे तो सिर्फ मनुष्य के बनाए हुए थे, सिर्फ लकड़ी और पत्थर. इसलिये वे नाश कर दिए गए.
20 Now therefore, O Yhwh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art Yhwh, even thou only.
अब, हे याहवेह, हमारे परमेश्वर, हमें उनके हाथ से बचा ताकि पूरी पृथ्वी को यह मालूम हो जाए कि याहवेह, केवल आप ही परमेश्वर हैं.”
21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Yhwh God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
तब आमोज़ के पुत्र यशायाह ने हिज़किय्याह को यह संदेश भेजा: “याहवेह, इस्राएल का परमेश्वर यों कहते हैं; इसलिये कि तुमने अश्शूर के राजा सेनहेरीब के संबंध में मुझसे विनती की.
22 This is the word which Yhwh hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
उसके विरुद्ध कहे गए याहवेह के शब्द ये है: “ज़ियोन की कुंवारी कन्या ने तुम्हें तुच्छ समझा है, तुम्हारा मज़ाक उड़ाया है. येरूशलेम की पुत्री तुम्हारी पीठ पीछे सिर हिलाती है.
23 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
तुमने किसका अपमान और निंदा की है? किसके विरुद्ध तुमने आवाज ऊंची की है? और किसके विरुद्ध तुम्हारी दृष्टि घमण्ड़ से उठी है? इस्राएल के महा पवित्र की ओर!
24 By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.
तुमने अपने दूतों के द्वारा याहवेह की निंदा की है. तुमने कहा, ‘अपने रथों की बड़ी संख्या लेकर मैं पहाड़ों की ऊंचाइयों पर चढ़ आया हूं, हां, लबानोन के दुर्गम, दूर के स्थानों तक; मैंने सबसे ऊंचे देवदार के पेड़ काट गिराए हैं, इसके सबसे उत्तम सनोवरों को भी; मैंने इसके दूर-दूर के घरों में प्रवेश किया, हां, इसके घने वनों में भी.
25 I have digged, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places.
मैंने कुएं खोदे और परदेश का जल पिया, अपने पांवों के तलवों से मैंने मिस्र की सभी नदियां सुखा दीं.’
26 Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps.
“‘क्या तुमने सुना नहीं? इसका निश्चय मैंने बहुत साल पहले कर लिया था? इसकी योजना मैंने बहुत पहले ही बना ली थी, जिसको मैं अब पूरा कर रहा हूं, कि तुम गढ़ नगरों को खंडहरों का ढेर बना दो.
27 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blasted before it be grown up.
तब जब नगरवासियों का बल जाता रहा, उनमें निराशा और लज्जा फैल गई. वे मैदान की वनस्पति और जड़ी-बूटी के समान हरे हो गए. वैसे ही, जैसे छत पर उग आई घास बढ़ने के पहले ही मुरझा जाती है.
28 But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
“‘मगर तुम्हारा उठना-बैठना मेरी दृष्टि में है, तुम्हारा भीतर आना और बाहर जाना भी और मेरे विरुद्ध तुम्हारा तेज गुस्सा भी!
29 Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
मेरे विरुद्ध तुम्हारे तेज गुस्से के कारण और इसलिये कि मैंने तुम्हारे घमण्ड़ के विषय में सुन लिया है, मैं तुम्हारी नाक में अपनी नकेल डालूंगा और तुम्हारे मुख में लगाम और तब मैं तुम्हें मोड़कर उसी मार्ग पर चलाऊंगा जिससे तुम आए थे.’
30 And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
“तब तुम्हारे लिए यह चिन्ह होगा: “इस साल तुम्हारा भोजन उस उपज का होगा, जो अपने आप उगती है; अगले साल वह, जो इसी से उपजेगी; तीसरे साल तुम बीज बोओगे, उपज काटोगे, अंगूर के बगीचे लगाओगे और उनके फल खाओगे.
31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:
तब यहूदाह गोत्र का बचा हुआ भाग दोबारा अपनी जड़ें भूमि में गहरे जा मजबूत करता जाएगा और ऊपर वृक्ष फलवंत होता जाएगा.
32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of Yhwh of Armies shall do this.
क्योंकि येरूशलेम से एक बचा हुआ भाग ही विकसित होगा, और ज़ियोन पर्वत से भागे हुए लोग. सेनाओं के याहवेह अपनी जलन के कारण ऐसा करेंगे.
33 Therefore thus saith Yhwh concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.
“इसलिये अश्शूर के राजा के बारे में याहवेह का यह संदेश है: “वह न तो इस नगर में प्रवेश करेगा, न वह वहां बाण चलाएगा. न वह इसके सामने ढाल लेकर आएगा और न ही वह इसकी घेराबंदी के लिए ढलान ही बना पाएगा.
34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith Yhwh.
वह तो उसी मार्ग से लौट जाएगा जिससे वह आया था. वह इस नगर में प्रवेश ही न करेगा.” यह याहवेह का संदेश है.
35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
“क्योंकि अपनी और अपने सेवक दावीद की महिमा के लिए मैं इसके नगर की रक्षा करूंगा!”
36 Then the angel of Yhwh went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
उसी रात ऐसा हुआ कि याहवेह के एक स्वर्गदूत ने अश्शूरी सेना के शिविर में जाकर एक लाख पचासी हज़ार सैनिकों को मार दिया. सुबह जागने पर लोगों ने पाया कि सारे सैनिक मर चुके थे.
37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
यह होने पर अश्शूर का राजा सेनहेरीब अपने देश लौट गया और नीनवेह नगर में रहने लगा.
38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esar–haddon his son reigned in his stead.
एक बार, जब वह अपने देवता निसरोक के भवन में उसकी उपासना कर रहा था, उसी के पुत्रों, अद्राम्मेलेख और शारेज़र ने तलवार से उस पर वार किया और वे अरारात प्रदेश में जाकर छिप गए. उसके स्थान पर उसके पुत्र एसारहद्दन ने शासन करना शुरू किया.
