1 Kings 12
1 And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
ரெகொபெயாம் சீகேமுக்குப் போனான், ஏனெனில் இஸ்ரயேலர் எல்லோரும் அவனை அரசனாக்குவதற்காக அங்கே போயிருந்தார்கள்.
2 And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, ( for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt; )
அரசனாகிய சாலொமோனுக்குப் பயந்து எகிப்தில் அடைக்கலம் புகுந்து அங்கேயே இருந்த நேபாத்தின் மகன் யெரொபெயாம் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டான். அப்பொழுது அவன் எகிப்திலிருந்து திரும்பிவந்தான்.
3 That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
எனவே ஆள் அனுப்பி அவர்கள் யெரொபெயாமை வரவழைத்து, பின் அவனும் இஸ்ரயேல் சபையார் அனைவரும் ரெகொபெயாமிடம் வந்து,
4 Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
“உமது தகப்பன் எங்கள்மேல் பாரமான சுமையை வைத்தார். ஆனால் இப்பொழுது நீர் அவர் எங்கள்மேல் வைத்த கடினமான உழைப்பையும், பாரமான சுமையையும் இலகுவாக்கும். அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் உமக்குப் பணிந்திருப்போம்” என்றனர்.
5 And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
அதற்கு ரெகொபெயாம், “நீங்கள் போய் மூன்று நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு திரும்பி என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்” என்றான். எனவே மக்கள் போய்விட்டார்கள்.
6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
அதன்பின்பு, அரசன் ரெகொபெயாம் தன் தகப்பன் சாலொமோனின் காலத்தில் அவரிடம் பணிசெய்த முதியோருடன் கலந்து ஆலோசனை செய்தான். அவன் அவர்களிடம், “இந்த மக்களுக்கு நான் பதில்சொல்வதற்கு நீங்கள் என்ன ஆலோசனை சொல்கிறீர்கள்?” எனக் கேட்டான்.
7 And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
அதற்கு அவர்கள், “இன்று நீ அவர்களுக்கு பணியாளனாயிருந்து, அவர்களுக்குப் பணிசெய்து, அவர்களுக்கு சாதகமான பதிலைக் கொடுப்பீரானால் அவர்கள் எப்பொழுதும் உமது பணியாட்களாயிருப்பார்கள்” என்றார்கள்.
8 But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
ஆனால் ரெகொபெயாம் முதியோர் தனக்குக் கூறிய புத்திமதியை உதாசீனம் செய்துவிட்டு, தன்னுடன் வளர்ந்து தனக்குப் பணிசெய்த வாலிபரிடம் ஆலோசனை கேட்டான்.
9 And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
அவன் அவர்களிடம், “‘உமது தகப்பன் எங்கள்மேல் வைத்த பாரத்தை எளிதாக்கும்’ என்று கேட்கிற இந்த மக்களுக்கு நான் பதில் கொடுப்பதற்கு நீங்கள் எனக்கு என்ன ஆலோசனை தருவீர்கள்?” என்று கேட்டான்.
10 And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
அவனுடன் வளர்ந்த வாலிபர்கள், “உமது தகப்பன் எங்கள்மேல் பாரமான நுகத்தை வைத்தார், நீர் எங்கள் நுகத்தை இலகுவாக்கும் என உம்மிடம் சொல்கிற இந்த மக்களிடம், எனது சிறிய விரல் என் தகப்பனின் இடுப்பைவிடத் தடிமனானது என்று சொல்லும்.
11 And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
அத்துடன் என் தகப்பன் உங்கள்மேல் பாரமான சுமையைச் சுமத்தினார். நான் இதை இன்னும் பாரமாக்குவேன். என் தகப்பன் உங்களைச் சவுக்கினால் அடித்தார். நான் உங்களைத் தேள்களின் வேதனையைப்போன்ற சாட்டையினால் அடிப்பேன் என்று சொல்லும்” என்றார்கள்.
12 So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
“மூன்று நாட்களுக்குப்பின் என்னிடம் திரும்பிவாருங்கள்” என்று அரசன் கூறியபடியே நாட்களுக்குப்பின் யெரொபெயாமும் எல்லா மக்களும் ரெகொபெயாமிடம் திரும்பி வந்தார்கள்.
13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him;
அப்போது அரசன், மக்களுக்குக் கடுமையாகப் பதிலளித்தான். முதியோர் அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்த புத்திமதியைத் தள்ளிவிட்டு,
14 And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
வாலிபரின் ஆலோசனையைப் பின்பற்றி மக்களிடம், “என் தகப்பன் உங்கள்மேல் பாரமான சுமையைச் சுமத்தினார். நான் இதை இன்னும் பாரமாக்குவேன். என் தகப்பன் உங்களைச் சவுக்கினால் அடித்தார். நான் உங்களைத் தேள்களின் வேதனையைப்போன்ற சாட்டையினால் அடிப்பேன்” என்றான்.
15 Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from Yhwh, that he might perform his saying, which Yhwh spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
இப்படியாக அரசன் மக்களின் வேண்டுகோளைக் கவனிக்கவில்லை. நேபாத்தின் மகனான யெரொபெயாமுக்கு சீலோவைச் சேர்ந்த அகியா என்ற இறைவாக்கினன் மூலம் கூறிய யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படி, இந்த மாறுதலான நிகழ்வுகள் யெகோவாவிடமிருந்தே வந்தன.
16 So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
அரசன் தங்களுக்கு செவிகொடுக்க மறுத்ததைக் கண்ட எல்லா இஸ்ரயேலரும் அரசனிடம் சொன்னதாவது: “தாவீதிடம் எங்களுக்கு என்ன பங்குண்டு? ஈசாயின் மகனிடம் எங்களுக்கு என்ன பாகமுண்டு? இஸ்ரயேலரே உங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்குப் போங்கள்! தாவீதே, உன் சொந்த வீட்டைக் கவனித்துக்கொள்!” எனவே இஸ்ரயேலர்கள் தங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குப் போய்விட்டார்கள்.
17 But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
ஆனால் யூதாவில் பட்டணங்களில் குடியிருந்த இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் அவர்கள் எல்லோர்மேலும் இன்னும் ரெகொபெயாம் ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.
18 Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
அரசன் ரெகொபெயாம் கட்டாய வேலைக்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருந்த அதோராமை மக்களிடம் அனுப்பினான். ஆனால் எல்லா இஸ்ரயேலரும் அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து கொன்றுவிட்டார்கள். அரசன் ரெகொபெயாம் எப்படியோ ஒருவழியாகத் தனது தேரில் ஏறி எருசலேமுக்குத் தப்பி ஓடினான்.
19 So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
இவ்வாறு இஸ்ரயேலர் தாவீதின் வீட்டாருக்கெதிராக இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் கலகம் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.
20 And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
யெரொபெயாம் திரும்பிவந்தான் என்று இஸ்ரயேலர் எல்லோரும் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, தங்கள் சபைக்கு அவனை வரும்படி அழைத்து எல்லா இஸ்ரயேலருக்கும் அவனை அரசனாக்கினார்கள். யூதா கோத்திரம் மட்டுமே தாவீதின் குடும்பத்துக்கு உண்மையாயிருந்தது.
21 And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
ரெகொபெயாம் எருசலேமை வந்தடைந்தபோது, யூதா முழுவதிலும் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்திலும் 1,80,000 போர்வீரரை ஒன்றுகூட்டினான். இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு எதிராகப் போரிட்டு முழு அரசையும் சாலொமோனின் மகன் ரெகொபெயாமின் ஆட்சிக்குட்படுத்தவே அவர்கள் திரட்டப்பட்டனர். ஆனால் இறைவனின் மனிதன் செமாயாவுக்கு இந்த யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை வந்தது:
22 But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
ஆனால் இறைவனுடைய மனிதனான செமாயாவுக்கு இறைவனின் வார்த்தை வந்தது.
23 Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
“நீ யூதாவின் அரசனான சாலொமோனின் மகன் ரெகொபெயாமையும், யூதாவின், பென்யமீன் முழு குடும்பத்தையும், மீதியான மக்களையும் நோக்கி,
24 Thus saith Yhwh, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of Yhwh, and returned to depart, according to the word of Yhwh.
‘உங்கள் சகோதரர்களாகிய இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு எதிராக யுத்தம்செய்யப் போகவேண்டாம். இது எனது செயல்; நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்புங்கள் என்று யெகோவா சொல்கிறார்’” என்றான். எனவே அவர்கள் யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தைக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, அவர் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே மீண்டும் வீட்டிற்கு போனார்கள்.
25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
பின்பு யெரொபெயாம் எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டிலுள்ள சீகேமை அரண் செய்து, அங்கே வாழ்ந்தான். அங்கிருந்துபோய் பெனியேலைக் கட்டி எழுப்பினான்.
26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
யெரொபெயாம் தனக்குள், “அரசாட்சி ஒருவேளை தாவீதின் சந்ததிக்கே திரும்பவும் போகக்கூடும்.
27 If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of Yhwh at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
இந்த மக்கள் எருசலேமில் உள்ள யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்துக்குப் பலி செலுத்துவதற்குப் போனால், அவர்கள் தங்கள் தலைவனான யூதாவின் அரசன் ரெகொபெயாமின் பக்கம் சாயக்கூடும். அவர்கள் என்னைக் கொலைசெய்து அவனிடமே திரும்புவார்கள்” என்று நினைத்தான்.
28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
அரசன் இதைக்குறித்து ஆலோசனை பெற்றபின்பு இரண்டு தங்கக் கன்றுக்குட்டிகளைச் செய்தான். அவன் மக்களைப் பார்த்து, “நீங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வழிபடப்போவது உங்களுக்கு மிகவும் கஷ்டம். இஸ்ரயேலின் எகிப்திலிருந்து உங்களைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்த தெய்வங்கள் இங்கே இருக்கின்றன” என்று சொன்னான்.
29 And he set the one in Beth–el, and the other put he in Dan.
அவன் ஒன்றைப் பெத்தேலிலும், மற்றதைத் தாணிலும் வைத்தான்.
30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
இது பாவமாகியது. மக்கள் அதில் ஒன்றை வழிபடுவதற்குத் தாண்வரைக்கும் போனார்கள்.
31 And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.
யெரொபெயாம் மேட்டு இடங்களில் வழிபாட்டு இடங்களைக் கட்டி, எல்லாவித மனிதர்களிலுமிருந்து அவர்கள் லேவியர்கள் இல்லாதிருந்தபோதிலும் ஆசாரியர்களை நியமித்தான்.
32 And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Beth–el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth–el the priests of the high places which he had made.
யெரொபெயாம் எட்டாம் மாதம் பதினைந்தாம் நாளில் யூதாவில் நடக்கும் ஒரு பண்டிகையைப்போல தானும் ஒரு பண்டிகையை நியமித்து, பலிபீடத்தில் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தினான். இப்படி அவன் தான் பெத்தேலில் செய்த கன்றுக்குட்டிக்குப் பலியிட்டான். பெத்தேலில் தான் செய்த மேடைகளில் பூசாரிகளையும் நியமித்தான்.
33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Beth–el the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
எட்டாம் மாதம், பதினைந்தாம் தேதியை தன் விருப்பப்படி தெரிந்தெடுத்து, பெத்தேலில் தான் கட்டிய பலிபீடத்தில் பலிகளைச் செலுத்தினான். இப்படியாக இஸ்ரயேலருக்கான பண்டிகைகளை தானும் நியமித்து பலிகளைச் செலுத்தும்படி பலிபீடத்திற்குப் போனான்.
