< Psalms 41 >
1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: YHWH will deliver him in time of trouble.
Unto the end, a psalm for David himself. Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the evil day.
2 YHWH will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth: and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies.
3 YHWH will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow: thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.
4 I said, YHWH, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me: heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee.
5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?
My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish?
6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
And if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things: his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose.
7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
All my enemies whispered together against me: they devised evils to me.
8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.
They determined against me an unjust word: shall he that sleepeth rise again no more?
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
For even the man of peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, hath greatly supplanted me.
10 But thou, O YHWH, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
But thou, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again: and I will requite them.
11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
By this I know, that thou hast had a good will for me: because my enemy shall not rejoice over me.
12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
But thou hast upheld me by reason of my innocence: and hast established me in thy sight for ever.
13 Blessed be YHWH Elohim of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
Blessed by the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity. So be it. So be it.
