< Psalms 30 >

1 I will extol thee, O YHWH; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
A psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the Temple. I will extol you, O Lord, because you have lifted me up, and not suffered my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O YHWH my Elohim, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
I cried to you for help, O Lord my God, and you healed me.
3 O YHWH, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Sheol h7585)
You have brought me up, Lord, from Sheol, from my way to the pit back to life you have called me. (Sheol h7585)
4 Sing unto YHWH, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Sing praise to the Lord, faithful people; give thanks to his holy name.
5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
For his anger lasts only a moment, his favor endures for a lifetime. Weeping may lodge for the night, but the morning brings shouts of joy.
6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
When all went well, I imagined that never should I be shaken.
7 YHWH, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
For by your favor, O Lord, you had set me on mountains strong: but you hide your face, and I was confounded.
8 I cried to thee, O YHWH; and unto YHWH I made supplication.
Then to you, Lord, I cried, to the Lord I begged for mercy,
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
“What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Can you be praised by dust? Can it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O YHWH, and have mercy upon me: YHWH, be thou my helper.
Hear, Lord, and show me your favor, Lord be a helper to me.”
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
You have turned my mourning to dancing; my sackcloth you have unloosed, and clothed me with joy:
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O YHWH my Elohim, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
that unceasingly I should sing your praise, and give thanks to you, Lord my God, forever.
