< Psalms 16 >
1 Preserve me, O El: for in thee do I put my trust.
A Precious Psalm of David. Preserve me, O GOD, for I have sought refuge in thee.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto YHWH, Thou art YHWH: my virtue is not without thee;
Thou hast said unto Yahweh, My Lord, art thou! My goodness, mounteth not unto thee.
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
It belongeth unto the holy ones, whom, in his own land, Yahweh, ennobleth, In whom is all his delight
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another elohim: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
They multiply their idols—another, have they purchased! I will not pour out their drink-offerings of blood, nor will I take up their names on my lips.
5 YHWH is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
Yahweh, is mine allotted portion and my cup, Thou, art maintaining my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
The lines, have fallen unto me, in pleasant places, Verily an inheritance that delighteth me.
7 I will bless YHWH, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
I will bless Yahweh, who hath counselled me, —Surely, by night, shall mine impulses admonish me.
8 I have set YHWH always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I have set Yahweh before me continually, because he is on my right hand, I shall not be shaken!
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
Therefore, hath my heart rejoiced, and mine honour exulted, Yea, my flesh, shall settle down securely;
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol )
For thou wilt not abandon my soul to hades, neither wilt thou suffer thy man of lovingkindness, to see corruption: (Sheol )
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Thou wilt cause me to know, the path of life, —Fulness of joys before thee, Pleasures at thy right hand evermore.
