Proverbs 22
1 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
१चांगले नाव विपुल धनापेक्षा आणि सोने व चांदीपेक्षा प्रीतीयुक्त कृपा निवडणे उत्तम आहे.
2 The rich and poor meet together: YHWH is the maker of them all.
२गरीब आणि श्रीमंत यांच्यात हे सामाईक आहे, त्या सर्वांचा निर्माणकर्ता परमेश्वर आहे.
3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
३शहाणा मनुष्य संकट येताना पाहून लपतो, पण भोळे पुढे जातात आणि त्यामुळे दुःख सोसतात.
4 By humility and the fear of YHWH are riches, and honour, and life.
४परमेश्वराचे भय नम्रता आणि संपत्ती, मान आणि जीवन आणते.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
५कुटिलाच्या मार्गात काटे आणि पाश असतात; जो कोणी आपल्या जिवाची काळजी करतो तो त्यापासून दूर राहतो.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
६मुलाने ज्या मार्गात चालावे त्याचे शिक्षण त्यास दे, आणि जेव्हा तो मोठा होईल तेव्हा त्या मार्गांपासून तो मागे फिरणार नाही.
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
७श्रीमंत गरीबावर अधिकार गाजवितो, आणि जो कोणी एक उसने घेतो तो कोणा एका उसने देणाऱ्यांचा गुलाम आहे.
8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
८जो कोणी वाईट पेरतो तो संकटाची कापणी करतो, आणि त्याच्या क्रोधाची काठी तूटून जाईल.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
९जो उदार दृष्टीचा आहे तो आशीर्वादित होईल कारण तो आपले अन्न गरिबांबरोबर वाटून खातो.
10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
१०निंदकाला घालवून दे म्हणजे भांडणे मिटतात, मतभेद आणि अप्रतिष्ठा संपून जातील.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the favour of his lips the king shall be his friend.
११ज्याला मनाची शुद्धता आवडते, आणि ज्याची वाणी कृपामय असते; अशांचा मित्र राजा असतो.
12 The eyes of YHWH preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
१२परमेश्वराचे नेत्र ज्ञानाचे रक्षक आहेत, परंतु तो विश्वासघातक्यांची वचने उलथून टाकतो.
13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
१३आळशी म्हणतो, “बाहेर रस्त्यावर सिंह आहे! मी उघड्या जागेवर ठार होईल.”
14 The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of YHWH shall fall therein.
१४व्यभिचारी स्त्रियांचे तोंड खोल खड्डा आहे; ज्या कोणाच्याविरूद्ध परमेश्वराचा कोप भडकतो तो त्यामध्ये पडतो.
15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
१५बालकाच्या हृदयात मूर्खता जखडलेली असते, पण शिक्षेची काठी ती त्याच्यापासून दूर करील.
16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
१६जो कोणी आपली संपत्ती वाढविण्यासाठी गरीबावर जुलूम करतो, किंवा जो धनवानाला भेटी देतो, तोही गरीब होईल.
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
१७ज्ञानाची वचने ऐकून घे आणि त्याकडे लक्ष दे, आणि आपले मन माझ्या ज्ञानाकडे लाव.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
१८कारण ती जर तू आपल्या अंतर्यामात ठेवशील, आणि ती सर्व तुझ्या ओठावर तयार राहतील. तर किती बरे होईल.
19 That thy trust may be in YHWH, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
१९परमेश्वरावर तुम्ही विश्वास ठेवावा, म्हणून मी तुला ती वचने आज शिकवली आहेत.
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
२०मी तुझ्यासाठी शिक्षण व ज्ञान ह्यातल्या तीस म्हणी लिहिल्या नाहीत काय?
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
२१या सत्याच्या वचनाचे विश्वासूपण तुला शिकवावे, ज्याने तुला पाठवले त्यास विश्वासाने उत्तरे द्यावीत म्हणून नाहीत काय?
22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
२२गरीब मनुष्यास लुटू नको, कारण तो गरीबच आहे, किंवा गरजवंतावर वेशीत जुलूम करू नकोस.
23 For YHWH will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
२३कारण परमेश्वर त्यांचा कैवार घेईल, आणि ज्या कोणी त्यांना लुटले त्यांचे जिवन तो लुटेल.
24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
२४जो कोणी एक व्यक्ती रागाने राज्य करतो त्याची मैत्री करू नकोस, आणि जो कोणी संतापी आहे त्याच्याबरोबर जाऊ नकोस.
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
२५तुम्ही त्याचे मार्ग शिकाल, आणि गेलात तर तुम्ही स्वतःला जाळ्यात अडकवून घ्याल.
26 Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
२६दुसऱ्याच्या कर्जाला जे जामीन होतात, आणि हातावर हात मारणारे त्यांच्यातला तू एक होऊ नको.
27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
२७जर तुझ्याकडे कर्ज फेडण्यास काही नसले, तर त्याने तुमच्या अंगाखालून तुझे अंथरुण का काढून घ्यावे?
28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
२८तुझ्या वडिलांनी जी प्राचीन सीमा घालून ठेवली आहे, तो दगड दूर करू नकोस.
29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
२९जो आपल्या कामात तरबेज अशा मनुष्यास तू पाहिले आहे का? तो राजासमोर उभा राहील; तो सामान्य लोकांसमोर उभा राहणार नाही.
