Matthew 4
1 Then was Yahushua led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
さて、イエスは、悪魔の試みを受けるため、御霊に導かれて荒野に上って行かれた。
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
そして、四十日四十夜断食したあとで、空腹を覚えられた。
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of Elohim, command that these stones be made bread.
すると、試みる者が近づいて来て言った。「あなたが神の子なら、この石がパンになるように、命じなさい。」
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of YHWH.
イエスは答えて言われた。「『人はパンだけで生きるのではなく、神の口から出る一つ一つのことばによる。』と書いてある。」
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
すると、悪魔はイエスを聖なる都に連れて行き、神殿の頂に立たせて、
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of Elohim, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
言った。「あなたが神の子なら、下に身を投げてみなさい。『神は御使いたちに命じて、その手にあなたをささえさせ、あなたの足が石に打ち当たることのないようにされる。』と書いてありますから。」
7 Yahushua said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt YHWH thy Elohim.
イエスは言われた。「『あなたの神である主を試みてはならない。』とも書いてある。」
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
今度は悪魔は、イエスを非常に高い山に連れて行き、この世のすべての国々とその栄華を見せて、
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
言った。「もしひれ伏して私を拝むなら、これを全部あなたに差し上げましょう。」
10 Then saith Yahushua unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship YHWH thy Elohim, and him only shalt thou serve.
イエスは言われた。「引き下がれ、サタン。『あなたの神である主を拝み、主にだけ仕えよ。』と書いてある。」
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
すると悪魔はイエスを離れて行き、見よ、御使いたちが近づいて来て仕えた。
12 Now when Yahushua had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
ヨハネが捕えられたと聞いてイエスは、ガリラヤへ立ちのかれた。
13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
そしてナザレを去って、カペナウムに来て住まわれた。ゼブルンとナフタリとの境にある、湖のほとりの町である。
14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
これは、預言者イザヤを通して言われた事が、成就するためであった。すなわち、
15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
「ゼブルンの地とナフタリの地、湖に向かう道、 ヨルダンの向こう岸、異邦人のガリラヤ。
16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
暗やみの中にすわっていた民は偉大な光を見、 死の地と死の陰にすわっていた人々に、 光が上った。」
17 From that time Yahushua began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
この時から、イエスは宣教を開始して、言われた。「悔い改めなさい。天の御国が近づいたから。」
18 And Yahushua, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Kepha, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
イエスがガリラヤ湖のほとりを歩いておられたとき、ふたりの兄弟、ペテロと呼ばれるシモンとその兄弟アンデレをご覧になった。彼らは湖で網を打っていた。漁師だったからである。
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
イエスは彼らに言われた。「わたしについて来なさい。あなたがたを、人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう。」
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
彼らはすぐに網を捨てて従った。
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
そこからなお行かれると、イエスは、別のふたりの兄弟、ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネが、父ゼベダイといっしょに舟の中で網を繕っているのをご覧になり、ふたりをお呼びになった。
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
彼らはすぐに舟も父も残してイエスに従った。
23 And Yahushua went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
イエスはガリラヤ全土を巡って、会堂で教え、御国の福音を宣べ伝え、民の中のあらゆる病気、あらゆるわずらいを直された。
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.
イエスのうわさはシリヤ全体に広まった。それで、人々は、さまざまの病気と痛みに苦しむ病人、悪霊につかれた人、てんかん持ちや、中風の者などをみな、みもとに連れて来た。イエスは彼らをお直しになった。
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
こうしてガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤおよびヨルダンの向こう岸から大ぜいの群衆がイエスにつき従った。
