1 When therefore Yahushua knew how the Pharisees had heard that Yahushua made and baptized more disciples than John,
yIzuH svayaM nAmajjayat kEvalaM tasya ziSyA amajjayat kintu yOhanO'dhikaziSyAn sa karOti majjayati ca,
2 (Though Yahushua himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
phirUzina imAM vArttAmazRNvan iti prabhuravagatya
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
yihUdIyadEzaM vihAya puna rgAlIlam Agat|
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
tataH zOmirONapradEzasya madyEna tEna gantavyE sati
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
yAkUb nijaputrAya yUSaphE yAM bhUmim adadAt tatsamIpasthAyi zOmirONapradEzasya sukhAr nAmnA vikhyAtasya nagarasya sannidhAvupAsthAt|
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Yahushua therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
tatra yAkUbaH prahirAsIt; tadA dvitIyayAmavElAyAM jAtAyAM sa mArgE zramApannastasya prahEH pArzvE upAvizat|
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Yahushua saith unto her, Give me to drink.
Etarhi kAcit zOmirONIyA yOSit tOyOttOlanArtham tatrAgamat
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
tadA ziSyAH khAdyadravyANi krEtuM nagaram agacchan|
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
yIzuH zOmirONIyAM tAM yOSitam vyAhArSIt mahyaM kinjcit pAnIyaM pAtuM dEhi| kintu zOmirONIyaiH sAkaM yihUdIyalOkA na vyavAharan tasmAddhEtOH sAkathayat zOmirONIyA yOSitadahaM tvaM yihUdIyOsi kathaM mattaH pAnIyaM pAtum icchasi?
10 Yahushua answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of Elohim, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
tatO yIzuravadad Izvarasya yaddAnaM tatkIdRk pAnIyaM pAtuM mahyaM dEhi ya itthaM tvAM yAcatE sa vA ka iti cEdajnjAsyathAstarhi tamayAciSyathAH sa ca tubhyamamRtaM tOyamadAsyat|
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
tadA sA sImantinI bhASitavati, hE mahEccha prahirgambhIrO bhavatO nIrOttOlanapAtraM nAstI ca tasmAt tadamRtaM kIlAlaM kutaH prApsyasi?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
yOsmabhyam imamandhUM dadau, yasya ca parijanA gOmESAdayazca sarvvE'sya prahEH pAnIyaM papurEtAdRzO yOsmAkaM pUrvvapuruSO yAkUb tasmAdapi bhavAn mahAn kiM?
13 Yahushua answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
tatO yIzurakathayad idaM pAnIyaM saH pivati sa punastRSArttO bhaviSyati,
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
kintu mayA dattaM pAnIyaM yaH pivati sa punaH kadApi tRSArttO na bhaviSyati| mayA dattam idaM tOyaM tasyAntaH prasravaNarUpaM bhUtvA anantAyuryAvat srOSyati| (aiōn , aiōnios )
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
tadA sA vanitAkathayat hE mahEccha tarhi mama punaH pIpAsA yathA na jAyatE tOyOttOlanAya yathAtrAgamanaM na bhavati ca tadarthaM mahyaM tattOyaM dEhI|
16 Yahushua saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
tatO yIzUravadadyAhi tava patimAhUya sthAnE'trAgaccha|
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Yahushua said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
sA vAmAvadat mama patirnAsti| yIzuravadat mama patirnAstIti vAkyaM bhadramavOcaH|
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
yatastava panjca patayObhavan adhunA tu tvayA sArddhaM yastiSThati sa tava bharttA na vAkyamidaM satyamavAdiH|
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
tadA sA mahilA gaditavati hE mahEccha bhavAn EkO bhaviSyadvAdIti buddhaM mayA|
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
asmAkaM pitRlOkA Etasmin zilOccayE'bhajanta, kintu bhavadbhirucyatE yirUzAlam nagarE bhajanayOgyaM sthAnamAstE|
21 Yahushua saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
yIzuravOcat hE yOSit mama vAkyE vizvasihi yadA yUyaM kEvalazailE'smin vA yirUzAlam nagarE piturbhajanaM na kariSyadhvE kAla EtAdRza AyAti|
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
yUyaM yaM bhajadhvE taM na jAnItha, kintu vayaM yaM bhajAmahE taM jAnImahE, yatO yihUdIyalOkAnAM madhyAt paritrANaM jAyatE|
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
kintu yadA satyabhaktA AtmanA satyarUpENa ca piturbhajanaM kariSyantE samaya EtAdRza AyAti, varam idAnImapi vidyatE; yata EtAdRzO bhatkAn pitA cESTatE|
24 Elohim is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Izvara AtmA; tatastasya yE bhaktAstaiH sa AtmanA satyarUpENa ca bhajanIyaH|
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that the Messiah cometh, when he is come, he will tell us all things.
tadA sA mahilAvAdIt khrISTanAmnA vikhyAtO'bhiSiktaH puruSa AgamiSyatIti jAnAmi sa ca sarvvAH kathA asmAn jnjApayiSyati|
26 Yahushua saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
tatO yIzuravadat tvayA sArddhaM kathanaM karOmi yO'ham ahamEva sa puruSaH|
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
Etasmin samayE ziSyA Agatya tathA striyA sArddhaM tasya kathOpakathanE mahAzcaryyam amanyanta tathApi bhavAn kimicchati? yadvA kimartham EtayA sArddhaM kathAM kathayati? iti kOpi nApRcchat|
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
tataH paraM sA nArI kalazaM sthApayitvA nagaramadhyaM gatvA lOkEbhyOkathAyad
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Messiah?
ahaM yadyat karmmAkaravaM tatsarvvaM mahyamakathayad EtAdRzaM mAnavamEkam Agatya pazyata ru kim abhiSiktO na bhavati?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
tatastE nagarAd bahirAgatya tAtasya samIpam Ayan|
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
Etarhi ziSyAH sAdhayitvA taM vyAhArSuH hE gurO bhavAn kinjcid bhUktAM|
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
tataH sOvadad yuSmAbhiryanna jnjAyatE tAdRzaM bhakSyaM mamAstE|
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
tadA ziSyAH parasparaM praSTum Arambhanta, kimasmai kOpi kimapi bhakSyamAnIya dattavAn?
34 Yahushua saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
yIzuravOcat matprErakasyAbhimatAnurUpakaraNaM tasyaiva karmmasiddhikAraNanjca mama bhakSyaM|
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
mAsacatuSTayE jAtE zasyakarttanasamayO bhaviSyatIti vAkyaM yuSmAbhiH kiM nOdyatE? kintvahaM vadAmi, zira uttOlya kSEtrANi prati nirIkSya pazyata, idAnIM karttanayOgyAni zuklavarNAnyabhavan|
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
yazchinatti sa vEtanaM labhatE anantAyuHsvarUpaM zasyaM sa gRhlAti ca, tEnaiva vaptA chEttA ca yugapad AnandataH| (aiōnios )
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
itthaM sati vapatyEkazchinatyanya iti vacanaM siddhyati|
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
yatra yUyaM na paryyazrAmyata tAdRzaM zasyaM chEttuM yuSmAn prairayam anyE janAHparyyazrAmyan yUyaM tESAM zragasya phalam alabhadhvam|
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
yasmin kAlE yadyat karmmAkArSaM tatsarvvaM sa mahyam akathayat tasyA vanitAyA idaM sAkSyavAkyaM zrutvA tannagaranivAsinO bahavaH zOmirONIyalOkA vyazvasan|
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
tathA ca tasyAntikE samupasthAya svESAM sannidhau katicid dinAni sthAtuM tasmin vinayam akurvvAna tasmAt sa dinadvayaM tatsthAnE nyavaSTat
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
tatastasyOpadEzEna bahavO'parE vizvasya
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Messiah, the Saviour of the world.
tAM yOSAmavadan kEvalaM tava vAkyEna pratIma iti na, kintu sa jagatO'bhiSiktastrAtEti tasya kathAM zrutvA vayaM svayamEvAjnjAsamahi|
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
svadEzE bhaviSyadvaktuH satkArO nAstIti yadyapi yIzuH pramANaM datvAkathayat
44 For Yahushua himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
tathApi divasadvayAt paraM sa tasmAt sthAnAd gAlIlaM gatavAn|
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
anantaraM yE gAlIlI liyalOkA utsavE gatA utsavasamayE yirUzalam nagarE tasya sarvvAH kriyA apazyan tE gAlIlam AgataM tam AgRhlan|
46 So Yahushua came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
tataH param yIzu ryasmin kAnnAnagarE jalaM drAkSArasam AkarOt tat sthAnaM punaragAt| tasminnEva samayE kasyacid rAjasabhAstArasya putraH kapharnAhUmapurI rOgagrasta AsIt|
47 When he heard that Yahushua was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
sa yEhUdIyadEzAd yIzO rgAlIlAgamanavArttAM nizamya tasya samIpaM gatvA prArthya vyAhRtavAn mama putrasya prAyENa kAla AsannaH bhavAn Agatya taM svasthaM karOtu|
48 Then said Yahushua unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
tadA yIzurakathayad AzcaryyaM karmma citraM cihnaM ca na dRSTA yUyaM na pratyESyatha|
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
tataH sa sabhAsadavadat hE mahEccha mama putrE na mRtE bhavAnAgacchatu|
50 Yahushua saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Yahushua had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
yIzustamavadad gaccha tava putrO'jIvIt tadA yIzunOktavAkyE sa vizvasya gatavAn|
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
gamanakAlE mArgamadhyE dAsAstaM sAkSAtprApyAvadan bhavataH putrO'jIvIt|
52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
tataH kaM kAlamArabhya rOgapratIkArArambhO jAtA iti pRSTE tairuktaM hyaH sArddhadaNPadvayAdhikadvitIyayAmE tasya jvaratyAgO'bhavat|
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Yahushua said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
tadA yIzustasmin kSaNE prOktavAn tava putrO'jIvIt pitA tadbuddhvA saparivArO vyazvasIt|
54 This is again the second miracle that Yahushua did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
yihUdIyadEzAd Agatya gAlIli yIzurEtad dvitIyam AzcaryyakarmmAkarOt|
