John 4
1 When therefore Yahushua knew how the Pharisees had heard that Yahushua made and baptized more disciples than John,
Lors donc que le Seigneur sut que les pharisiens avaient appris que Jésus faisait et baptisait plus de disciples que Jean,
2 (Though Yahushua himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
(toutefois ce n'était pas Jésus lui-même qui baptisait, mais ses disciples),
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
il quitta la Judée, et se rendit en Galilée.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
Or il fallait qu'il traversât la Samarie.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Il arriva donc dans une ville de Samarie nommée Sichar, près du champ que Jacob avait donné à Joseph son fils;
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Yahushua therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
or là se trouvait la source de Jacob. Jésus donc fatigué du voyage s'était tout simplement assis près de la source; c'était environ la sixième heure;
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Yahushua saith unto her, Give me to drink.
survient une femme samaritaine pour puiser de l'eau; Jésus lui dit: « Donne-moi à boire. »
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
Car ses disciples étaient allés à la ville afin d'acheter des vivres.
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
La femme samaritaine lui dit donc: « Comment toi, qui es Juif, me demandes-tu à boire, à moi qui suis une femme samaritaine? » — Les Juifs en effet ne frayent pas avec les Samaritains. Jésus lui répliqua:
10 Yahushua answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of Elohim, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
« Si tu connaissais le don de Dieu, et quel est celui qui te dit: Donne-moi à boire, c'est toi qui l'aurais sollicité, et il t'aurait donné de l'eau vive. »
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Elle lui dit: « Seigneur, tu n'as rien pour puiser, et le puits est profond; d'où as-tu donc cette eau vive?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Es-tu plus grand que notre père Jacob qui nous a donné ce puits, et qui lui-même en a bu, ainsi que ses fils et ses troupeaux? »
13 Yahushua answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Jésus lui répliqua: « Quiconque boit de cette eau-là aura de nouveau soif;
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
La femme lui dit: « Seigneur, donne-moi cette eau-là, afin que je n'aie plus soif, et que je ne vienne plus puiser ici. »
16 Yahushua saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Il lui dit: « Va, appelle ton mari, et reviens ici. »
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Yahushua said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
La femme lui répliqua: « Je n'ai pas de mari. » Jésus lui dit: « Tu as eu raison de dire: je n'ai pas de mari;
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
car tu as eu cinq maris, et celui que tu as maintenant n'est pas ton mari; en cela tu as dit vrai. »
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
La femme lui dit: « Seigneur, je vois que tu es un prophète;
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
nos pères ont adoré sur cette montagne, et vous, vous dites que c'est à Jérusalem qu'est le lieu où il faut adorer. »
21 Yahushua saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Jésus lui dit: « Crois-moi, femme, l'heure vient où vous n'adorerez le Père, ni sur cette montagne, ni à Jérusalem.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
Pour vous, vous adorez ce que vous ne connaissez pas; nous, nous adorons ce que nous connaissons, car le salut vient des Juifs;
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
mais l'heure vient, et elle est maintenant arrivée, où les véritables adorateurs adoreront le Père en esprit et en vérité; ce sont en effet de tels adorateurs que demande aussi le Père;
24 Elohim is Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Dieu est Esprit, et il faut que ses adorateurs L'adorent en esprit et en vérité. »
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that the Messiah cometh, when he is come, he will tell us all things.
La femme lui dit: « Je sais que le Messie doit venir, celui qui est appelé Christ; lorsque celui-là sera venu, il nous apprendra toutes choses. »
26 Yahushua saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
« Jésus lui dit: « C'est moi qui le suis, moi qui te parle. »
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
Et là-dessus survinrent ses disciples, et ils s'étonnaient de ce qu'il parlait avec une femme. Nul cependant ne dit: « Que demandes-tu? » ou, « Pourquoi parles-tu avec elle? »
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
La femme laissa donc sa cruche et s'en fut à la ville, et elle dit aux gens:
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Messiah?
« Venez voir un homme qui m'a dit tout ce que j'ai fait; n'est-ce point lui qui est le Christ? »
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
Ils sortirent de la ville, et ils venaient vers lui.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
Dans l'intervalle les disciples le sollicitaient en disant: « Rabbi, mange. »
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
Mais il leur dit: « J'ai à manger un aliment que vous ne connaissez pas. »
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
Les disciples se disaient donc les uns aux autres: « Est-ce que quelqu'un lui a apporté à manger? »
34 Yahushua saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Jésus leur dit: « Ma nourriture est de faire la volonté de Celui qui m'a envoyé et d'achever Son œuvre.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Ne dites-vous pas vous-mêmes: Encore quatre mois et la moisson arrive? Voici, je vous dis: Levez vos yeux, et voyez comme les campagnes blanchissent déjà pour la moisson.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
Le moissonneur reçoit un salaire, et il serre sa récolte pour la vie éternelle, afin que le semeur se réjouisse aussi bien que le moissonneur; (aiōnios g166)
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
car c'est ici que s'applique avec vérité la parole qui dit: « Autre est le semeur, et autre le moissonneur. »
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
C'est moi qui vous ai envoyés moissonner ce que vous n'avez pas travaillé; d'autres ont travaillé, et vous, vous êtes entrés dans leur travail. »
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
Or de cette ville-là il y eut plusieurs Samaritains qui crurent en lui, à cause de cette déclaration de la femme: « Il m'a dit tout ce que j'ai fait. »
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
Lors donc que les Samaritains furent venus vers lui, ils le sollicitaient de demeurer auprès d'eux; et il demeura là deux jours.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
Et un beaucoup plus grand nombre crurent à cause de sa prédication,
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Messiah, the Saviour of the world.
et ils disaient à la femme: « Ce n'est plus à cause de tes discours, que nous croyons, car nous avons ouï nous-mêmes, et nous savons que celui-ci est vraiment le sauveur du monde, le Christ. »
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
Au bout de ces deux jours il sortit de là pour se rendre en Galilée.
44 For Yahushua himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
En effet Jésus lui-même avait déclaré qu'un prophète n'est point honoré dans sa propre patrie;
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
lors donc qu'il arriva en Galilée, les Galiléens l'accueillirent parce qu'ils avaient vu tout ce qu'il avait fait à Jérusalem pendant la fête; car eux-mêmes aussi étaient venus à la fête.
46 So Yahushua came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
Il vint donc derechef à Cana de Galilée, où il avait de l'eau fait du vin. Et il y avait à Capharnaoum un officier royal, dont le fils était malade;
47 When he heard that Yahushua was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
cet homme, ayant appris que Jésus était arrivé de Judée en Galilée, se rendit auprès de lui, et il le sollicitait de venir guérir son fils; car il était sur le point de mourir.
48 Then said Yahushua unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Jésus lui dit donc: « Si vous ne voyez des miracles et des prodiges, vous ne croyez absolument point. »
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
L'officier royal lui dit: « Seigneur, descend avant que mon enfant ne meure. »
50 Yahushua saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Yahushua had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
Jésus lui dit: « Va, ton fils vit. » L'homme crut la parole que Jésus lui avait dite, et il s'acheminait;
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
mais comme déjà il descendait, ses esclaves vinrent à sa rencontre en disant que son enfant vivait.
52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Il s'informa donc de l'heure précise à laquelle il s'était trouvé mieux; ils lui dirent donc: « C'est hier, à la septième heure, que la fièvre l'a quitté. »
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Yahushua said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Le père reconnut donc que c'était à cette heure-là que Jésus lui avait dit: « Ton fils vit; » et il crut, lui, et toute sa famille.
54 This is again the second miracle that Yahushua did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Or ce fut là le second miracle que fit encore Jésus lorsqu'il fut venu de Judée en Galilée.
