Hosea 12
1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Éphraïm se repaît de vent, et poursuit le vent d'est, toujours il entasse mensonge et violence, avec l'Assyrie ils font alliance et l'huile est portée en Egypte.
2 YHWH hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
Aussi l'Éternel est en procès avec Juda, et va punir Jacob de sa conduite, selon ses œuvres Il le rétribuera.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with Elohim:
Dans le sein maternel Jacob saisit son frère au talon, et par sa force il lutta avec Dieu;
4 Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;
il lutta avec l'ange, et eut l'avantage; il pleura et le supplia, à Béthel il le trouva, et là il nous parla.
5 Even YHWH Elohim of hosts; YHWH is his memorial.
Et l'Éternel est le Dieu des armées, son nom est l'Éternel.
6 Therefore turn thou to thy Elohim: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy Elohim continually.
Toi donc, reviens à ton Dieu, garde la piété et la justice, et espère dans ton Dieu constamment.
7 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
Cananéen, dans sa main il a une balance fausse; il aime à frauder.
8 And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
Ainsi parle Éphraïm: Oui, je me suis enrichi, j'ai acquis de l'opulence! dans tous mes gains on ne trouvera rien d'inique, rien qui soit un péché.
9 And I that am YHWH thy Elohim from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
Mais moi, l'Éternel, ton Dieu depuis le pays d'Egypte, je te laisse encore habiter sous tes tentes comme aux jours de tes fêtes;
10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
et je parle aux prophètes et je multiplie les révélations, et par les prophètes je propose des paraboles.
11 Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
A Galaad règne l'idolâtrie; c'est méchanceté pure; à Guilgal ils sacrifient des taureaux; eux aussi ont autant d'autels qu'il y a de monceaux de pierres sur les sillons des champs.
12 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Et Jacob s'enfuit aux campagnes d'Aram, et Israël fut serviteur pour une femme, et pour une femme il fut gardien.
13 And by a prophet YHWH brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Et par un prophète l'Éternel ramena Israël de l'Egypte, et par un prophète il fut gardé.
14 Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his master return unto him.
Mais Éphraïm a fait [à l'Éternel] une offense amère; aussi laissera-t-Il ses meurtres peser sur lui, et son Seigneur lui rendra l'opprobre qu'il a reçu de lui.
