Exodus 15
1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto YHWH, and spake, saying, I will sing unto YHWH, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
Alors Moïse et les enfants d'Israël chantèrent un hymne à l'Éternel et ils dirent: Je chante l'Éternel qui a paru dans sa grandeur; Il a jeté dans la mer le cheval et son cavalier.
2 YAH is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my El, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's Elohim, and I will exalt him.
Que l'Éternel soit ma gloire et l'objet de mes chants, car Il a été mon sauveur. C'est lui qui est mon Dieu, je le célèbre, le Dieu de mon père, je l'exalte.
3 YHWH is a man of war: YHWH is his name.
L'Éternel est un guerrier, son nom est l'Éternel.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
Il a jeté dans la mer les chars de Pharaon, et son armée; ses champions d'élite sont plongés dans la Mer des algues;
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
les flots les ont couverts: ils ont enfoncé dans l'abîme comme la pierre.
6 Thy right hand, O YHWH, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O YHWH, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
Ta droite, O Éternel, que la puissance illustre, ta droite, ô Éternel, met tes ennemis en pièces.
7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
Par ta souveraine majesté tu abats ceux qui te résistent, tu donnes cours à ta colère; et elle les consume comme la balle.
8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
Au souffle de tes narines les eaux s'accumulèrent, comme une digue les courants s'arrêtèrent, les flots se contractèrent au sein de la mer.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
L'ennemi disait: Je vais poursuivre, atteindre, partager le butin, mon âme s'assouvira sur eux, je tirerai l'épée, ma main les détruira;
10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.
tu exhalas ton souffle, la mer les couvrit, comme le plomb ils s'abîmèrent dans les ondes puissantes.
11 Who is like unto thee, O YHWH, among the mighty ones? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Qui t'égale parmi les dieux, Éternel? Lequel est comme toi illustre en sainteté, auguste en gloire, auteur de merveilles?
12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
Tu étendis ta main, la terre les engloutit.
13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
Tu conduis par ta grâce le peuple que tu as sauvé, tu le mènes par ta puissance au séjour de ta sainteté.
14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
A cette nouvelle les peuples tremblent, l'effroi saisit les habitants de la Philistie;
15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.
alors les princes d'Édom sont éperdus, la terreur s'empare des héros de Moab, les habitants de Canaan s'épouvantent;
16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O YHWH, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
la frayeur et l'alarme fond sur eux, la grandeur de ton bras les rend muets comme la pierre, jusqu'à ce que ton peuple soit passé, Éternel, jusqu'à ce que soit passé le peuple que tu t'es acquis.
17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O YHWH, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O YHWH, which thy hands have established.
Tu les fais arriver et tu les plantes sur la montagne qui est ton héritage, dans le séjour dont tu as fait ta résidence, Éternel, dans le sanctuaire, Seigneur, qu'ont préparé tes mains.
18 YHWH shall reign for ever and ever.
L'Éternel est roi, éternellement, à jamais;
19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and YHWH brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
car les coursiers de Pharaon avec ses chars et sa cavalerie s'avancèrent dans la mer, et l'Éternel ramena sur eux les flots de la mer, et les enfants d'Israël passèrent à sec au milieu de la mer.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
Alors Marie, la prophétesse, sœur d'Aaron, prit dans sa main le tambourin, et toutes les femmes sortirent à sa suite avec des tambourins et en formant des chœurs. Et Marie leur répondait:
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to YHWH, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
Chantez l'Éternel, car Il a montré sa grandeur, Il a jeté dans la mer les chevaux et les chars.
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Et Moïse fit partir les Israélites de la Mer aux algues, et ils s'avancèrent dans le désert de Sur et ils marchèrent trois journées dans le désert sans trouver d'eau.
23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
Et ils parvinrent à Mara, mais ils ne purent boire les eaux de Mara, car elles étaient amères; c'est pourquoi on appelle ce lieu Mara (amertume).
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
Alors le peuple murmura contre Moïse et dit: Que boirons-nous?
25 And he cried unto YHWH; and YHWH shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
Et il éleva ses cris vers l'Éternel, et l'Éternel lui indiqua un bois qu'il jeta dans l'eau; et l'eau devint douce. Là Il leur prescrivit des statuts et des lois, et là Il les mit à l'épreuve.
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of YHWH thy Elohim, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am YHWH that healeth thee.
Et Il dit: Si tu es docile à la voix de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et que tu fasses ce qui est droit à ses yeux, et que tu écoutes ses ordres, et que tu observes tous ses statuts, je ne te ferai subir aucune des maladies que j'ai fait subir aux Égyptiens; car je suis l'Éternel, ton médecin.
27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
Et ils arrivèrent à Elim, et là il y avait douze fontaines et soixante-dix palmiers, et ils y campèrent près des eaux.
