Deuteronomy 14
1 Ye are the children of YHWH your Elohim: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
Vous êtes les enfants de Yahvé votre Dieu. Vous ne vous couperez pas, et vous ne ferez pas de calvitie entre vos yeux pour les morts.
2 For thou art an holy people unto YHWH thy Elohim, and YHWH hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
Car vous êtes un peuple saint pour l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et l'Éternel vous a choisis pour être un peuple qui lui appartienne en propre, par-dessus tous les peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
Vous ne mangerez aucune chose abominable.
4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
Voici les animaux que vous pourrez manger: le bœuf, le mouton, la chèvre,
5 The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.
le cerf, la gazelle, le chevreuil, la chèvre sauvage, le bouquetin, l'antilope et le chamois.
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
Vous pourrez manger de tous les animaux qui ont le sabot fendu en deux et qui ruminent.
7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
Mais vous ne mangerez pas de ceux qui ruminent, ni de ceux qui ont le sabot fendu: le chameau, le lièvre et le lapin. Parce qu'ils ruminent mais n'ont pas le sabot fendu, ils sont impurs pour vous.
8 And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.
Le porc, parce qu'il a le sabot fendu mais ne rumine pas, vous est impur. Vous ne mangerez pas de leur viande. Vous ne toucherez pas leurs carcasses.
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
Voici ce que vous pourrez manger de tout ce qui se trouve dans les eaux: vous pourrez manger tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles.
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.
Vous ne mangerez pas ce qui n'a pas de nageoires et d'écailles. C'est une impureté pour vous.
11 Of all clean birds ye shall eat.
Tu pourras manger de tous les oiseaux purs.
12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
Mais voici ceux dont tu ne mangeras pas: l'aigle, le vautour, le balbuzard pêcheur,
13 And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,
le milan royal, le faucon, le milan de toute espèce,
14 And every raven after his kind.
le corbeau de toute espèce,
15 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
l'autruche, le hibou, la mouette, le faucon de toute espèce,
16 The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,
la chouette, le hibou grand duc, le hibou des marais,
17 And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,
le pélican, le vautour, le cormoran,
18 And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
la cigogne, le héron selon son espèce, la huppe et la chauve-souris.
19 And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.
Tous les reptiles ailés sont impurs pour vous. Vous ne les mangerez pas.
20 But of all clean fowls ye may eat.
Vous pourrez manger de tous les oiseaux purs.
21 Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto YHWH thy Elohim. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
Tu ne mangeras pas de ce qui meurt de lui-même. Tu pourras le donner à l'étranger qui habite au milieu de toi et qui se trouve dans tes portes, pour qu'il en mange, ou tu pourras le vendre à un étranger, car tu es un peuple saint pour Yahvé ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas bouillir un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
Tu prélèveras la dîme de tout le produit de ta semence, de ce qui sort des champs année après année.
23 And thou shalt eat before YHWH thy Elohim, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear YHWH thy Elohim always.
Tu mangeras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu'il choisira pour faire résider son nom, la dîme de ton blé, de ton moût et de ton huile, et des premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton menu bétail, afin que tu apprennes à craindre toujours l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which YHWH thy Elohim shall choose to set his name there, when YHWH thy Elohim hath blessed thee:
Si le chemin est trop long pour toi, et que tu ne puisses pas le porter, parce que le lieu que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, choisira pour y fixer son nom est trop éloigné de toi, lorsque l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te bénira,
25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which YHWH thy Elohim shall choose:
tu le transformeras en argent, tu lieras l'argent dans ta main, et tu iras au lieu que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, choisira.
26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before YHWH thy Elohim, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
Tu échangeras cet argent contre tout ce que ton âme désirera: du bétail, des brebis, du vin, des boissons fortes, ou tout ce que ton âme te demandera. Tu y mangeras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et tu te réjouiras, toi et ta famille.
27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
Tu n'abandonneras pas le Lévite qui est dans tes portes, car il n'a ni part ni héritage avec toi.
28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
A la fin de chaque période de trois ans, tu apporteras toute la dîme de ton revenu de la même année, et tu la conserveras dans tes portes.
29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, ) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that YHWH thy Elohim may bless thee in all the work of thine hands which thou doest.
Le Lévite, parce qu'il n'a ni part ni héritage chez toi, ainsi que l'étranger qui habite au milieu de toi, l'orphelin et la veuve qui sont dans tes portes, viendront, mangeront et seront rassasiés, afin que Yahvé ton Dieu te bénisse dans tout le travail de tes mains que tu fais.
