Acts 18
1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
૧પછી (પાઉલ) આથેન્સથી નીકળીને કરિંથમાં આવ્યો.
2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome: ) and came unto them.
૨પોન્તસનો વતની, આકુલા નામે એક યહૂદી, જે થોડા સમય માટે ઇટાલીથી આવેલો હતો, તે તથા તેની પત્ની પ્રિસ્કીલા તેને મળ્યાં, કેમ કે બધા યહૂદીઓને રોમમાંથી નીકળી જવાની ક્લોડિયસે (કાઈસાર) આજ્ઞા આપી હતી; પાઉલ તેઓને ત્યાં ગયો;
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
૩પાઉલ તેઓના જેવો જ વ્યવસાય કરતો હતો, માટે તે તેઓને ઘરે રહ્યો, અને તેઓ સાથે કામ કરતા હતા; કેમ કે તેઓનો વ્યવસાય પણ તંબુ બનાવવાનો (તંબુ ના વસ્ત્રો વણવાનો) હતો.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
૪દરેક વિશ્રામવારે પાઉલ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં વાતચીત કરતો, યહૂદીઓને તથા ગ્રીકોને (વચનમાંથી) સમજાવતો હતો.
5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Yahushua was the Messiah.
૫પણ જયારે સિલાસ તથા તિમોથી મકદોનિયાથી આવ્યા, ત્યારે પાઉલે ઉત્સાહથી (ઈસુની) વાત પ્રગટ કરતા યહૂદીઓને સાક્ષી આપી કે, ‘ઈસુ તે જ ખ્રિસ્ત છે.’”
6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
૬પણ યહૂદીઓ તેની વિરુદ્ધ થઈને દુર્ભાષણ કરવા લાગ્યા ત્યારે પાઉલે પોતાના વસ્ત્ર ખંખેરીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, તમારું લોહી તમારે માથે; હું તો નિર્દોષ છું, હવેથી હું બિનયહૂદીઓ પાસે જઈશ.
7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped YHWH, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.
૭પછી ત્યાંથી જઈને તે તિતસ યુસ્તસ નામે એક ઈશ્વરભક્ત હતો તેને ઘરે ગયો; તેનું ઘર ભક્તિસ્થાનની તદ્દન પાસે હતું.
8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on Yahushua with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
૮અને સભાસ્થાનના અધિકારી ક્રિસ્પસે અને તેના ઘરના માણસોએ પ્રભુ પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો; અને ઘણા કરિંથીઓએ પણ વચન સાંભળીને વિશ્વાસ કર્યો, અને તેઓ બાપ્તિસ્મા પામ્યા.
9 Then spake Yahushua to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
૯પ્રભુએ રાત્રે પાઉલને દર્શનમાં કહ્યું કે, તું બીશ નહીં, પણ બોલજે, શાંત ન રહેતો;
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
૧૦કેમ કે હું તારી સાથે છું, અને તને ઈજા થાય એવો હુમલો કોઈ તારા પર કરશે નહિ, કારણ કે આ શહેરમાં મારા ઘણા લોક છે.
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of YHWH among them.
૧૧તે (પાઉલ) તેઓને ઈશ્વરના વચનોનો બોધ કરતો રહીને દોઢ વરસ સુધી (ત્યાં) રહ્યો.
12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,
૧૨પણ ગાલિયો અખાયાનો અધિકારી હતો, ત્યારે યહૂદીઓ (સંપ કરીને) પાઉલની સામે ઊભા થયા, અને તેઓએ તેને (પાઉલને) ન્યાયાસન આગળ લાવીને કહ્યું કે,
13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship Elohim contrary to the law.
૧૩આ માણસ ઈશ્વરનું ભજન નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી વિપરીત રીતે કરવાનું લોકોને સમજાવે છે.
14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:
૧૪પાઉલ બોલવા જતો હતો, એટલામાં ગાલિયોએ યહૂદીઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ યહૂદીઓ. જો અન્યાયની અથવા દુરાચારણની વાત હોત, તો તમારું સાંભળવું વાજબી ગણાત;
15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.
૧૫પણ જો શબ્દો, નામો, અથવા તમારા પોતાના નિયમશાસ્ત્ર વિષેની એ તકરાર હોય તો, તમે પોતે તે વિષે ન્યાય કરો, કેમ કે એવી વાતોનો ન્યાય ચૂકવવા હું ઇચ્છતો નથી.’”
16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.
૧૬એમ કહીને તેણે તેઓને ન્યાયાસન આગળથી કાઢી મૂક્યા.
17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.
૧૭ત્યારે તેઓ સર્વએ સભાસ્થાનના અધિકારી સોસ્થેનેસને પકડીને ન્યાયાસન આગળ માર માર્યો, પણ ગાલિયોએ તે વાત વિષે કંઈ પરવા કરી નહિ.
18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
૧૮ત્યાર પછી ઘણા દિવસ ત્યાં રહ્યા બાદ પાઉલે ભાઈઓથી વિદાય લીધી, અને પ્રિસ્કીલા તથા આકુલાની સાથે વહાણમાં બેસીને સિરિયા જવા ઊપડ્યો; (તે પહેલાં) તેણે કેંખ્રિયામાં પોતાના વાળ ઉતારી નાખ્યાં, કેમ કે પાઉલે શપથ લીધી હતી.
19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
૧૯તેઓ એફેસસમાં પહોંચ્યાં ત્યારે તેણે (પાઉલે) તેઓને ત્યાં મૂક્યાં, ને પોતે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં જઈને યહૂદીઓની સાથે વાદવિવાદ કર્યો.
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
૨૦પોતાની સાથે વધારે સમય રહેવાની તેઓએ તેને વિનંતી કરી, પણ તેણે માન્યું નહિ.
21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if YHWH will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
૨૧પણ ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા હશે તો હું તમારી પાસે પાછો આવીશ, એમ કહીને તેણે તેઓથી વિદાય લીધી, અને એફેસસથી જવા સારુ વહાણમાં બેઠો.
22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the assembly, he went down to Antioch.
૨૨કાઈસારિયા પહોંચ્યા પછી, તેણે યરુશાલેમ જઈને મંડળીના માણસો સાથે મુલાકાત કરી, અને પછી અંત્યોખમાં ગયો.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
૨૩થોડા સમય સુધી ત્યાં રહ્યા પછી તે નીકળ્યો, અને સર્વ શિષ્યોને દૃઢ કરતો કરતો ગલાતિયા પ્રાંત તથા ફ્રુગિયામાં ફર્યો.
24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
૨૪આપોલસ નામનો એક વિદ્વાન યહૂદી જે ધર્મલેખોમાં પ્રવીણ હતો, અને આલેકસાંદ્રિયાનો વતની હતો, તે એફેસસ આવ્યો.
25 This man was instructed in the way of YHWH; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of YHWH, knowing only the baptism of John.
૨૫એ માણસ પ્રભુના માર્ગ વિષેનું શિક્ષણ પામેલો હતો, અને પવિત્ર આત્મામાં ઘણો આતુર હોવાથી તે કાળજીથી ઈસુ વિષેની વાતો પ્રગટ કરતો તથા શીખવતો હતો, પણ તે એકલું યોહાનનું બાપ્તિસ્મા જાણતો હતો;
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of YHWH more perfectly.
૨૬તે હિંમતથી સભાસ્થાનમાં બોલવા લાગ્યો, પણ પ્રિસ્કીલાએ તથા આકુલાએ તેની વાત સાંભળી ત્યારે તેઓએ તેને પોતાને ઘરે લઈ જઈને ઈશ્વરના માર્ગનો વધારે ચોકસાઈથી ખુલાસો આપ્યો.
27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through favour:
૨૭પછી તે અખાયા જવાને ઇચ્છતો હતો, ત્યારે ભાઈઓએ તેને ઉત્તેજન આપીને શિષ્યો પર લખી મોકલ્યું કે તેઓ તેનો (આપોલસનો) આવકાર કરે; તે ત્યાં આવ્યો ત્યારે જેઓએ (પ્રભુની) કૃપાથી વિશ્વાસ કર્યો હતો, તેઓને તેણે ઘણી સહાય કરી;
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Yahushua was the Messiah.
૨૮કેમ કે ઈસુ તે જ ખ્રિસ્ત છે, એવું ધર્મશાસ્ત્ર દ્વારા પુરવાર કરીને તેણે જાહેર (વાદવિવાદ) માં યહૂદીઓને સંપૂર્ણ રીતે હરાવ્યા.
