Acts 12
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the assembly.
| در همین زمانها بود که هیرودیس پادشاه به آزار و شکنجهٔ عده‌ای از پیروان مسیح پرداخت. |
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
| به دستور او یعقوب برادر یوحنا با شمشیر کشته شد. |
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Kepha also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
| وقتی هیرودیس دید که این کارش موجب خرسندی سران یهود شده، پطرس را نیز در ایام عید پِسَح یهود دستگیر کرد، |
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Passover to bring him forth to the people.
| و او را به زندان انداخت و دستور داد شانزده سرباز، زندان او را نگهبانی کنند. هیرودیس قصد داشت بعد از عید پِسَح، پطرس را بیرون آورد تا در ملاء عام محاکمه شود. |
5 Kepha therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the assembly unto YHWH for him.
| ولی در تمام مدتی که پطرس در زندان بود، کلیسا با جدیّتِ تمام برای او دعا می‌کردند. |
6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Kepha was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
| شبِ قبل از روزی که قرار بود پطرس توسط هیرودیس محاکمه شود، او به دو زنجیر بسته و بین دو سرباز خوابیده بود. سربازان دیگر نیز کنار در زندان کشیک می‌دادند. |
7 And, behold, the angel of YHWH came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Kepha on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
| ناگهان محیط زندان نورانی شد و فرشتهٔ خداوند آمد و کنار پطرس ایستاد! سپس به پهلوی پطرس زد و او را بیدار کرد و گفت: «زود برخیز!» همان لحظه زنجیرها از مچ دستهایش باز شد و بر زمین فرو ریخت! |
8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
| فرشته به او گفت: «لباسها و کفشهایت را بپوش.» پطرس نیز پوشید. آنگاه فرشته به او گفت: «ردایت را بر دوش خود بینداز و به دنبال من بیا!» |
9 And he went out, and followed him; and knew not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.
| به این ترتیب، پطرس از زندان بیرون آمد و به دنبال فرشته به راه افتاد. ولی در تمام این مدت تصور می‌کرد که خواب می‌بیند و باور نمی‌کرد که بیدار باشد. |
10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.
| سپس از نگهبانان اول و دوم گذشتند تا به دروازهٔ آهنی زندان رسیدند که به کوچه‌ای باز می‌شد. این در نیز خودبه‌خود باز شد! پس، از آنجا هم رد شدند تا به آخر کوچه رسیدند، و ناگهان فرشته او را ترک کرد. |
11 And when Kepha was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that YHWH hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
| پطرس که تازه متوجهٔ ماجرا شده بود، به خود گفت: «پس حقیقت دارد که خداوند فرشتهٔ خود را فرستاده، مرا از چنگ هیرودیس و نقشه‌ای که رهبران یهود برای من کشیده بودند، رهانیده است!» |
12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
| آنگاه، پس از لحظه‌ای تأمل، به خانهٔ مریم مادر یوحنا معروف به مرقس رفت. در آنجا عدهٔ زیادی برای دعا گرد آمده بودند. |
13 And as Kepha knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
| پطرس در زد و خادمه‌ای به نام رُدا آمد تا در را باز کند. |
14 And when she knew Kepha's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Kepha stood before the gate.
| وقتی صدای پطرس را شنید، از فرط شادی، بدون اینکه در را باز کند، برگشت تا به همه مژده دهد که پطرس در می‌زند. |
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
| ولی آنان حرف او را باور نکردند و گفتند: «مگر دیوانه شده‌ای؟» اما وقتی دیدند اصرار می‌کند، گفتند: «لابد فرشتۀ اوست.» |
16 But Kepha continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
| ولی پطرس بی‌وقفه در می‌زد. سرانجام رفتند و در را باز کردند. وقتی دیدند خود پطرس است، مات و مبهوت ماندند. |
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how YHWH had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
| پطرس اشاره کرد که آرام باشند و تعریف کرد که چه اتفاقی افتاده و چطور خداوند او را از زندان بیرون آورده است. پیش از رفتن نیز از ایشان خواست تا یعقوب و سایر برادران را آگاه سازند. بعد به جای امن‌تری رفت. |
18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Kepha.
| صبح در زندان غوغایی بپا شد. همه پطرس را جستجو می‌کردند. |
19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode.
| وقتی هیرودیس به دنبال او فرستاد و آگاه شد که در زندان نیست، هر شانزده نگهبان را بازداشت کرده، حکم اعدامشان را صادر کرد. آنگاه یهودیه را ترک کرده، به قیصریه رفت و مدتی در آنجا ماند. |
20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.
| وقتی هیرودیس در قیصریه بود، گروهی از نمایندگان شهرهای صور و صیدون به دیدن او آمدند. هیرودیس نسبت به اهالی این دو شهر خصومت عمیقی داشت. پس ایشان حمایت بلاستوس وزیر دربار او را به دست آوردند و از هیرودیس تقاضای صلح کردند، زیرا اقتصاد شهرهای آنان به داد و ستد با سرزمین او بستگی داشت. |
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
| در روز مقرر، هیرودیس لباس شاهانه‌ای پوشید و بر تخت سلطنت نشست و نطقی ایراد کرد. |
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a mighty one, and not of a man.
| مردم فریاد برآوردند: «این صدای خداست، نه صدای انسان!» |
23 And immediately the angel of YHWH smote him, because he gave not YHWH the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the spirit.
| همان لحظه فرشتهٔ خداوند هیرودیس را چنان زد که بدنش پر از کرم شد و مرد، زیرا به جای اینکه خدا را تمجید کند، گذاشت مردم او را پرستش کنند. |
24 But the word of YHWH grew and multiplied.
| اما پیغام خدا به سرعت به همه می‌رسید و تعداد ایمانداران روز‌به‌روز بیشتر می‌شد. |
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
| برنابا و سولس نیز به اورشلیم رفتند و هدایای مسیحیان را به کلیسا دادند و بعد به شهر انطاکیه بازگشتند. در این سفر یوحنا معروف به مرقس را نیز با خود بردند. |
