< 1 John 3 >

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of YHWH! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
And ye see, how great is the love of the Father towards us, who hath called us sons, and made us such. Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it likewise knoweth him not.
2 Beloved, now we are children of YHWH; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
My beloved, now are we the sons of God; and hitherto, it hath not appeared what we are to be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be in his likeness, and we shall see him as he is.
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
And every one that hath this hope from him, purifieth himself, as he is pure.
4 Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.
And every one that practiseth sin, perpetrateth iniquity; for all sin is iniquity.
5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.
And ye know, that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him was no sin.
6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
And every one that abideth in him, sinneth not: and every one that sinneth, hath not seen him, nor hath known him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
My children, let no one deceive you: he that doeth righteousness, is righteous, as the Messiah also is righteous.
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of YHWH was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
And he that committeth sin, is of Satan; because Satan was a sinner from the beginning: and for this cause, the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of Satan.
9 Whoever has been born of YHWH does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of YHWH.
Every one that is born of God, doth not practise sin; because his seed is in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of YHWH and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of YHWH, nor is he who does not love his brother.
By this are the children of God discriminated from the children of Satan. Every one that practiseth not righteousness, and that loveth not his brother, is not of God:
11 For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,
because this is the commandment, which ye heard from the beginning, that ye should love one another.
12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.
Not like Cain, who was of the evil one, and slew his brother. And why did he slay him, but because his own works were evil, and those of his brother righteous?
13 Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.
And wonder not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
We know that we have turned from death unto life, by this, that we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother, remaineth in death.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. (aiōnios g166)
For every one that hateth his brother, is a man-slayer; and ye know, that no man-slayer can have eternal life abiding in him. (aiōnios g166)
16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
By this we know his love towards us, because he gave up his life for us: and we also ought to give up our lives for our brethren.
17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of YHWH abide in him?
But whoever hath worldly possessions, and seeth his brother in want, and shutteth up his bowels from him, how is the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
My children, let us not love one another in words and in tongue, but in acts and in truth.
19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
And by this, we recognize that we are of the truth; and, before he shall come, we make our hearts confident.
20 For if our heart condemns us, YHWH is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
But if our heart condemneth us, how much greater is God than our heart, and knowing all things?
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward YHWH.
My beloved, if our heart condemneth us not, we have open countenances before God.
22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
And whatever we ask, we receive from him; because we keep his commandments, and do acceptable things before him.
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Yahushua the Messiah and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus the Messiah, and that we love one another as he hath commanded us.
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
And he that keepeth his commandments, is kept by him, and he dwelleth in him: and by this we understand that he abideth in us, from his Spirit which he hath given to us.
