< John 4 >
1 WHEN therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
Àwọn Farisi sì gbọ́ pé, Jesu ni, ó sì ń ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn púpọ̀ ju Johanu lọ.
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples, )
Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé Jesu tìkára rẹ̀ kò ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi bí kò ṣe àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀,
3 He left Judæa, and departed again into Galilee.
Ó fi Judea sílẹ̀, ó sì tún lọ sí Galili.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
Òun sì ní láti kọjá láàrín Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Nígbà náà ni ó dé ìlú Samaria kan, tí a ń pè ní Sikari, tí ó súnmọ́ etí ilẹ̀ oko tí Jakọbu ti fi fún Josẹfu, ọmọ rẹ̀.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
Kànga Jakọbu sì wà níbẹ̀. Nítorí pé ó rẹ Jesu nítorí ìrìn rẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó jókòó létí kànga, ó sì jẹ́ ìwọ̀n wákàtí kẹfà ọjọ́.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
Obìnrin kan, ará Samaria sì wá láti fà omi, Jesu wí fún un pé ṣe ìwọ yóò fún mi ni omi mu.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
Nítorí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ti lọ sí ìlú láti lọ ra oúnjẹ.
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Jesu dáhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Ìbá ṣe pé ìwọ mọ ẹ̀bùn Ọlọ́run, àti ẹni tí ó wí fún ọ pé, ‘Fún mi ni omi mu’, ìwọ ìbá sì ti béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀, òun ìbá ti fi omi ìyè fún ọ.”
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Obìnrin náà wí fún un pé, “Alàgbà, ìwọ kò ní igbá-ìfami tí ìwọ ó fi fà omi, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kànga náà jì, Níbo ni ìwọ ó ti rí omi ìyè náà?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Ìwọ pọ̀ ju Jakọbu baba wa lọ bí, ẹni tí ó fún wa ní kànga náà, tí òun tìkára rẹ̀ si mu nínú rẹ̀, àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, àti àwọn ẹran ọ̀sìn rẹ̀?”
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Jesu dáhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá mu nínú omi yìí, òǹgbẹ yóò sì tún gbẹ ẹ́.
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá mu nínú omi tí èmi ó fi fún un, òǹgbẹ kì yóò gbẹ ẹ́ mọ́ láé; ṣùgbọ́n omi tí èmi ó fi fún un yóò di kànga omi nínú rẹ̀, tí yóò máa sun si ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun.” (aiōn , aiōnios )
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
Obìnrin náà sì wí fún u pé, “Alàgbà, fún mi ní omi yìí, kí òǹgbẹ kí ó má ṣe gbẹ mí, kí èmi kí ó má sì wá fa omi níbí mọ́.”
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
Jesu wí fún un pé, “Lọ pe ọkọ rẹ, kí ó sì padà wá sí ìhín yìí.”
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
Obìnrin náà dáhùn, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Èmi kò ní ọkọ.” Jesu wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ́ dáhùn dáradára pé, èmi kò ní ọkọ:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
Nítorí tí ìwọ ti ní ọkọ márùn-ún rí, ọkùnrin tí ìwọ sì ní báyìí kì í ṣe ọkọ rẹ. Ohun tí ó ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ sọ tán yìí, òtítọ́ ni.”
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
Obìnrin náà wí fún un pé, “Alàgbà, mo wòye pé, wòlíì ni ìwọ ń ṣe.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Àwọn baba wa sìn lórí òkè yìí; ẹ̀yin sì wí pé, Jerusalẹmu ni ibi tí ó yẹ tí à bá ti máa sìn.”
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Jesu wí fún un pé, “Gbà mí gbọ́ obìnrin yìí, àkókò náà ń bọ̀, nígbà tí kì yóò ṣe lórí òkè yìí tàbí ní Jerusalẹmu ni ẹ̀yin ó máa sin Baba.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
Ẹ̀yin ń sin ohun tí ẹ̀yin kò mọ̀, àwa ń sin ohun tí àwa mọ̀, nítorí ìgbàlà ti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn Júù wá.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
Ṣùgbọ́n àkókò ń bọ̀, ó sì dé tán nísinsin yìí, nígbà tí àwọn olùsìn tòótọ́ yóò máa sin Baba ní ẹ̀mí àti ní òtítọ́, nítorí irú wọn ni Baba ń wá kí ó máa sin òun.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Ẹ̀mí ni Ọlọ́run: àwọn ẹni tí ń sìn ín kò lè ṣe aláìsìn ín ní Ẹ̀mí àti ní òtítọ́.”
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
Obìnrin náà wí fún un pé, mo mọ̀ pé, “Messia ń bọ̀ wá, tí a ń pè ní Kristi, nígbà tí Òun bá dé, yóò sọ ohun gbogbo fún wa.”
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
Jesu sọ ọ́ di mí mọ̀ fún un pé, “Èmi ẹni tí ń bá ọ sọ̀rọ̀ yìí ni Òun.”
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
Lákokò yí ni àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ dé, ẹnu sì yà wọ́n pé ó ń bá obìnrin sọ̀rọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n kò sí ẹnìkan tí ó wí pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ń wá?” tàbí “Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi ń bá a sọ̀rọ̀?”
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
Nígbà náà ni obìnrin náà fi ládugbó rẹ̀ sílẹ̀, ó sì mú ọ̀nà rẹ̀ pọ̀n lọ sí ìlú, ó sì wí fún àwọn ènìyàn pé,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
“Ẹ wá wò ọkùnrin kan, ẹni tí ó sọ ohun gbogbo tí mo ti ṣe rí fún mi, èyí ha lè jẹ́ Kristi náà?”
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
Nígbà náà ni wọ́n ti ìlú jáde, wọ́n sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
Láàrín èyí, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ń rọ̀ ọ́ wí pé, “Rabbi, jẹun.”
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
Ṣùgbọ́n ó wí fún wọn pé, “Èmi ní oúnjẹ láti jẹ, tí ẹ̀yin kò mọ̀.”
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
Nítorí náà ni àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ń bi ara wọn lérè wí pé, “Ẹnìkan mú oúnjẹ fún un wá láti jẹ bí?”
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Oúnjẹ mi ni láti ṣe ìfẹ́ ẹni tí ó rán mi, àti láti parí iṣẹ́ rẹ̀.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
Ẹ̀yin kò ha wí pé, ‘Ó ku oṣù mẹ́rin, ìkórè yóò sì dé?’ wò ó, mo wí fún un yín, Ẹ ṣí ojú yín sókè, kí ẹ sì wo oko; nítorí tí wọn ti pọ́n fún ìkórè.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
Kódà báyìí, ẹni tí ó ń kórè ń gba owó ọ̀yà rẹ̀, ó si ń kó èso jọ sí ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun, kí ẹni tí ó ń fúnrúgbìn àti ẹni tí ń kórè lè jọ máa yọ̀ pọ̀. (aiōnios )
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
Nítorí nínú èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ náà fi jẹ́ òtítọ́, ‘Ẹnìkan ni ó fúnrúgbìn, ẹlòmíràn ni ó sì ń kórè jọ.’
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
Mo rán yín lọ kórè ohun tí ẹ kò ṣiṣẹ́ fún. Àwọn ẹlòmíràn ti ṣiṣẹ́, ẹ̀yin sì kórè èrè làálàá wọn.”
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
Ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ará Samaria láti ìlú náà wá sì gbà á gbọ́ nítorí ìjẹ́rìí obìnrin náà pé, “Ó sọ gbogbo ohun tí mo ti ṣe fún mi.”
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
Nítorí náà, nígbà tí àwọn ará Samaria wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n rọ̀ ọ́ pé, kí ó wà pẹ̀lú wọn, ó sì dúró fún ọjọ́ méjì.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
Àwọn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ sì gbàgbọ́ sí i nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀.
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Wọ́n sì wí fún obìnrin náà pé, “Kì í ṣe nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ nìkan ni àwa ṣe gbàgbọ́, nítorí tí àwa tìkára wa ti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀, àwa sì mọ̀ pé, nítòótọ́ èyí ni Kristi náà, Olùgbàlà aráyé.”
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
Lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ méjì ó sì ti ibẹ̀ kúrò, ó lọ sí Galili.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
Nítorí Jesu tìkára rẹ̀ ti jẹ́rìí wí pé, Wòlíì kì í ní ọlá ní ilẹ̀ òun tìkára rẹ̀.
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
Nítorí náà nígbà tí ó dé Galili, àwọn ará Galili gbà á, nítorí ti wọ́n ti rí ohun gbogbo tí ó ṣe ní Jerusalẹmu nígbà àjọ ìrékọjá; nítorí àwọn tìkára wọn lọ sí àjọ pẹ̀lú.
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Jesu tún wá sí Kana ti Galili, níbi tí ó gbé sọ omi di wáìnì. Ọkùnrin ọlọ́lá kan sì wá, ẹni tí ara ọmọ rẹ̀ kò dá ní Kapernaumu.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
Nígbà tí ó gbọ́ pé Jesu ti Judea wá sí Galili, ó tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó sì ń bẹ̀ ẹ́, kí ó lè sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá kí ó mú ọmọ òun láradá: nítorí tí ó wà ní ojú ikú.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún un pé, “Bí kò ṣe pé ẹ̀yin bá rí àmì àti iṣẹ́ ìyanu, ẹ̀yin kì yóò gbàgbọ́ láé.”
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
Ọkùnrin ọlọ́lá náà wí fún un pé, “Olúwa, sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá kí ọmọ mi tó kú.”
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
Jesu wí fún un pé, “Máa bá ọ̀nà rẹ lọ; ọmọ rẹ yóò yè.” Ọkùnrin náà sì gba ọ̀rọ̀ Jesu gbọ́, ó sì kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
Bí ó sì ti ń sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ, àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ pàdé rẹ̀, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, ọmọ rẹ ti yè.
52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Nígbà náà ni ó béèrè wákàtí tí ara rẹ̀ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í yá lọ́wọ́ wọn, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Ní àná, ní wákàtí keje ni ibà náà fi í sílẹ̀.”
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni baba náà mọ̀ pé ní wákàtí kan náà ni, nínú èyí tí Jesu wí fún un pé “Ọmọ rẹ̀ yè.” Òun tìkára rẹ̀ sì gbàgbọ́, àti gbogbo ilé rẹ̀.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.
Èyí ni iṣẹ́ àmì kejì tí Jesu ṣe nígbà tí ó ti Judea jáde wá sí Galili.
