Job 14
1 MAN that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
“El hombre, que ha nacido de una mujer, es de pocos días, y llena de problemas.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Crece como una flor y se corta. También huye como una sombra, y no continúa.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
Abre los ojos en tal, y llevarme a juicio contigo?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
¿Quién puede sacar algo limpio de algo impuro? Ni uno.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Viendo que sus días están determinados, el número de sus meses está contigo, y has designado sus límites que no puede pasar.
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
Aparta la mirada de él, para que descanse, hasta que cumpla, como asalariado, su jornada.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
“Porque hay esperanza para un árbol si es cortado, que vuelva a brotar, que la rama tierna de la misma no cesará.
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Aunque su raíz envejece en la tierra, y sus acciones mueren en el suelo,
9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Sin embargo, a través del aroma del agua brotará, y brotan ramas como una planta.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
Pero el hombre muere, y es abatido. Sí, el hombre renuncia al espíritu, ¿y dónde está?
11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
Como las aguas se desprenden del mar, y el río se desperdicia y se seca,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
por lo que el hombre se acuesta y no se levanta. Hasta que los cielos no desaparezcan, no despertarán, ni ser despertado de su sueño.
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
“Oh, que me escondas en el Seol, que me mantendrías en secreto hasta que pase tu ira, que me designes una hora fija y te acuerdes de mí. (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Si un hombre muere, ¿volverá a vivir? Esperaría todos los días de mi guerra, hasta que llegue mi liberación.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
Tú llamabas y yo te respondía. Tendrías un deseo por el trabajo de tus manos.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Pero ahora cuentas mis pasos. ¿No vigilas mi pecado?
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
Mi desobediencia está sellada en una bolsa. Atascas mi iniquidad.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
“Pero la caída de la montaña queda en nada. La roca es removida de su lugar.
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Las aguas desgastan las piedras. Sus torrentes arrastran el polvo de la tierra. Así se destruye la esperanza del hombre.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Tú prevaleces para siempre contra él, y él se va. Le cambias la cara y lo mandas a paseo.
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
Sus hijos vienen a honrar, y él no lo sabe. Los traen abajo, pero él no lo percibe de ellos.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
Pero su carne en él tiene dolor, y su alma en su interior se lamenta”.
