Genesis 49
1 AND Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
Et Jacob fit venir ses fils et dit: Rassemblez-vous, je vais vous découvrir ce qui vous arrivera dans les temps à venir!
2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
Réunissez-vous, et écoutez, fils de Jacob, écoutez Israël, votre père.
3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
Ruben, tu es mon premier-né, ma vigueur, et les prémices de ma virilité; tu as la prééminence du rang, la prééminence de la force.
4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
Toi qui bous comme les eaux, tu perdras ton rang! car tu es monté au lit de ton père, tu l'as profané!… c'est dans ma couche qu'il est monté!
5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
Siméon et Lévi sont des frères; leurs glaives furent instruments de violence.
6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
Que mon âme n'entre point en leur conseil, que ma personne ne se joigne point à leur ligue! Dans leur courroux ils ont tué des hommes, et dans leur passion coupé les nerfs des taureaux.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
Maudit soit leur courroux, car il fut violent, et leur fureur, car elle fut cruelle! Je les distribuerai dans Jacob et les disséminerai dans Israël.
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
Juda, c'est toi que tes frères loueront; ta main saisit le col de tes ennemis, les fils de ton père s'inclineront devant toi.
9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
Juda est un jeune lion, après la capture, tu reviens, mon fils! il se replie, il se rase comme le lion, comme la lionne, qui le fera lever?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
Le sceptre ne se retire point de Juda, ni le bâton de l'empire d'entre ses pieds, jusqu'à ce qu'il entre à Silo, et que les peuples lui rendent obéissance.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
Il attache son âne à la vigne, et au noble cep le poulain de son ânesse; il baigne son habit dans le vin, et son manteau dans le sang du raisin;
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
le vin fait étinceler ses yeux, et le lait blanchit ses dents.
13 Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
Zabulon habite la plage de la mer, il habite la plage des navires, et ses confins atteignent à Sidon.
14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
Issaschar, âne robuste, repose entre les parcs,
15 And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
et voyant la beauté de son lieu de son repos, et les agréments de la contrée, il présente son épaule au fardeau, et fait le service des corvées.
16 Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
Dan juge son peuple, comme chacune des tribus d'Israël.
17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
Dan est un serpent sur le chemin, un céraste sur le sentier, il mord les pâturons des chevaux, et le cavalier tombe à la renverse.
18 I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.
C'est ton salut que j'attends, Éternel!…
19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
Gad est assailli par des escadrons, mais il assaille l'arrière-garde.
20 Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
D'Asser sort le pain savoureux, il fournit les friandises des rois.
21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
Nephthali est une biche élancée: il prononce des discours élégants.
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
Joseph est le rameau d'un arbre fécond, le rameau d'un arbre fécond près d'une source, ses jets franchissent la muraille.
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
On le provoque, on tire, et les archers le poursuivent;
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel: )
mais son arc reste ferme et ses mains ont force et souplesse. Que la main du Héros de Jacob, du lieu où réside le Berger et le Rocher d'Israël,
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
la main du Dieu de ton père, qui fut ton aide, du Tout-Puissant qui t'a béni, répande les bénédictions du ciel exhaussé, les bénédictions des ondes de la couche inférieure, les bénédictions des mamelles et de la maternité.
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
La bénédiction de ton père est supérieure à la bénédiction des monts élevés, aux attraits des coteaux éternels: qu'elle repose sur la tête de Joseph, sur le front du prince de ses frères!
27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
Benjamin est le loup qui déchire; le matin il dévore une proie, et le soir il partage le butin.
28 All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
Tels sont tous ceux qui forment les tribus d'Israël, douze en nombre, et telles sont les paroles que leur adressa leur père; et c'est ainsi qu'il les bénit, leur donnant à chacun une bénédiction particulière.
29 And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
Et il leur laissa ses instructions en ces termes: Je vais être recueilli auprès de mon peuple; vous me donnerez la sépulture à côté de mes pères dans la grotte du champ de Ephron le Héthien,
30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
dans la grotte du champ de Macpéla à l'orient de Mamré au pays de Canaan, qu'Abraham a achetée de Ephron le Héthien, avec le champ comme propriété sépulcrale;
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
c'est là qu'ont reçu la sépulture Abraham et Sarah, sa femme; c'est là qu'ont reçu la sépulture Isaac et Rebecca, sa femme, et c'est là que j'ai donné la sépulture à Léa,
32 The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
dans le champ acheté des enfants de Heth, et dans la grotte qui s'y trouve.
33 And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
Et lorsque Jacob eut achevé de donner ses ordres à ses fils, il assembla ses pieds sur le lit, et il expira et fut recueilli auprès de ses pères.
