Ezra 4
1 NOW when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the Lord God of Israel;
Şi, când potrivnicii lui Iuda şi Beniamin au auzit că copiii captivităţii au început să construiască templul pentru DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel;
2 Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
Atunci au venit la Zorobabel şi la mai marele părinţilor şi le-au spus: Lăsaţi-ne să construim cu voi, căci noi căutăm pe Dumnezeul vostru, ca şi voi; şi îi sacrificăm din zilele lui Esar-Hadon, împăratul Asiriei, care ne-a adus aici.
3 But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
Dar Zorobabel şi Ieşua şi ceilalţi mai mari dintre părinţi ai lui Israel, le-au spus: Voi nu aveţi nimic a face cu noi pentru a construi o casă Dumnezeului nostru; ci noi înşine împreună vom construi DOMNULUI Dumnezeului lui Israel, precum ne-a poruncit împăratul Cirus, împăratul Persiei.
4 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
Atunci poporul ţării a slăbit mâinile poporului lui Iuda şi i-a tulburat la construire.
5 And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
Şi au angajat sfătuitori împotriva lor, pentru a le zădărnici scopul, în toate zilele lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, chiar până la împărăţia lui Darius, împăratul Persiei.
6 And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
Şi sub domnia lui Ahaşveroş, la începutul domniei lui, au scris o acuzaţie împotriva locuitorilor lui Iuda şi ai Ierusalimului.
7 And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.
Şi în zilele lui Artaxerxes au scris Bişlam, Mitredat, Tabeel şi restul tovarăşilor lor, lui Artaxerxes, împăratul Persiei; şi scrierea din scrisoare era scrisă în limba siriană şi tradusă în limba siriană.
8 Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
Rehum, cancelarul, şi Şimşai, scribul, au scris o scrisoare împotriva Ierusalimului lui Artaxerxes, împăratul, în acest fel;
9 Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,
Atunci au scris Rehum, cancelarul, şi Şimşai, scribul, şi restul tovarăşilor lor; dinaiţii, afarsatchiţii, tarpeliţii, afarsiţii, archeviţii, babilonienii, susanchiţii, dehaviţii şi elamiţii,
10 And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnappar brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
Şi restul naţiunilor pe care marele şi nobilul Osnapar le-a adus şi le-a aşezat în cetăţile Samariei şi restul care sunt de partea aceasta a râului, în acest timp.
11 This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.
Aceasta este copia scrisorii pe care i-au trimis-o, lui Artaxerxes, împăratul; Servitorii tăi, bărbaţii de această parte a râului, în acest timp.
12 Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
Să fie cunoscut împăratului, că iudeii care s-au urcat de la tine la noi, au venit la Ierusalim, construind cetatea cea răzvrătită şi rea şi au ridicat zidurile ei şi repară temeliile.
13 Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
Să fie cunoscut acum împăratului, că, dacă această cetate este construită şi zidurile sunt ridicate din nou, atunci ei nu vor plăti taxă, tribut şi vamă şi astfel tu vei păgubi veniturile împăraţilor.
14 Now because we have maintenance from the king’s palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
Acum, deoarece avem întreţinere de la palatul împăratului şi nu a fost cuvenit pentru noi să privim dezonorarea împăratului, de aceea am trimis şi am făcut aceasta cunoscută împăratului;
15 That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
Ca să se cerceteze în cartea cronicilor părinţilor tăi: astfel vei găsi tu în cartea cronicilor şi vei şti că această cetate este o cetate răzvrătită şi vătămătoare împăraţilor şi provinciilor şi că au făcut răscoală în ea din timpuri vechi; din această cauză a fost această cetate distrusă.
16 We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
Facem cunoscut împăratului că, dacă această cetate este construită din nou și zidurile ei sunt ridicate, prin aceasta nu vei avea nicio parte dincoace de râu.
17 Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
Atunci împăratul a trimis un răspuns lui Rehum, cancelarul, şi lui Şimşai, scribul, şi restului tovarăşilor lor care locuiau în Samaria şi în restul locurilor de dincoace de râu: Pace, mai ales în acest timp.
18 The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
Scrisoarea pe care ne-aţi trimis-o a fost clar citită înaintea mea.
19 And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
Şi am poruncit şi s-a făcut cercetare şi s-a găsit că această cetate din timpurile vechi a făcut insurecţie împotriva împăraţilor şi că s-a făcut în ea răzvrătire şi răscoală.
20 There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
Au fost împăraţi puternici de asemenea peste Ierusalim, care au domnit peste toate ţinuturile de dincoace de râu; şi li s-a plătit taxă, tribut şi vamă.
21 Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
Daţi acum poruncă să facă pe aceşti oameni să înceteze şi această cetate să nu fie construită, până va fi dată o altă poruncă din partea mea.
22 Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
Luaţi seama acum să nu greşiţi în a face aceasta: de ce să crească paguba spre vătămarea împăraţilor?
23 Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
Şi, când copia scrisorii împăratului Artaxerxes a fost citită înaintea lui Rehum şi a lui Şimşai, scribul, şi a tovarăşilor lor, ei s-au urcat în grabă la Ierusalim la iudei, şi i-au făcut să înceteze, prin forţă şi putere.
24 Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
Atunci a încetat lucrarea casei lui Dumnezeu care este în Ierusalim. Astfel, a încetat până în anul al doilea al domniei lui Darius împăratul Persiei.
